Easter Resurrection.
This time, the bright holiday of Easter coincided with my bright holiday, my birthday. It was hoped that this significant coincidence would be sanctified by the sacrament of Christ's Resurrection and Divine Grace. And my soul longed for something truly ancient, primitive and mysterious. I started looking for options and found an interesting Easter tour to the ancient city of Chernihiv and Kyiv in our Kherson company.
So, day one: Pre-Easter Saturday.
We left Kherson at 5 am, of course early, but who gets up early, so God forbid. At 1 pm they were already in the capital, first a lunch was organized in the Budmo restaurant, a very decent place, the lunch was arranged entirely in the style of national Ukrainian cuisine.
Well, then we went to Theophany, to watch St. Panteleimon Cathedral and drink water from holy springs. The cathedral looks beautiful, but, in my opinion, a little pathetic.
It was built in 1905 on the site of a men's hermitage.
Located in the park area of Theophany, but since nature is just beginning to wake up, the greenery and beauty we have not seen, except for black tree trunks and thickets. I think that summer and autumn are very beautiful here.
The park has three springs with healing water: beauty, health and once again beauty - in general, decorated there and took with you to wash on Sunday morning before the consecration of Easter, in the evening be sure to immerse in water any silver thing.
The next issue of our program was a visit to the oceanarium" Sea Tale ". The aquarium is beautiful, and there is something to tell, but this is not appropriate in the story of the Resurrection, so about him after.
Well, let's go to Chernihiv!
We arrived in Chernihiv in the evening, stayed at the Uyut Hotel, a good new hotel, though on the outskirts, but very clean, large spacious rooms and delicious breakfasts.
And we were greeted by the ancient symbol of Chernihiv - the Church of St. Catherine . It was built in the Ukrainian Baroque style at the expense of the Lyzogub brothers.

Day Two: Easter Resurrection or Chernihiv Treasures
The morning began with an Easter conspiracy to attract brides and marry.
In the morning, when the sun rises, you should knock on the window glass and say the following words… (but I didn't need it, so I didn't remember the words).
I held a ceremony of beauty and prosperity. Before breakfast, everyone went through another rite of "christening" and early in the morning, went to church for the rite of consecration. Strictly according to the rite, they consecrated everything that could be consecrated, including themselves, in the oldest Savior Transfiguration Cathedral . This is the oldest monument of architecture of Kievan Rus, founded in 1030 by Prince Mstislav Vladimirovich of Chernihiv.
It is clear that the temple is ancient and needs reconstruction, at least on the outside, and inside even preserved a stunning iconostasis of the 18th century. You can see the remains of frescoes, carved choir slabs, which indicates its former rich decoration. And characteristically, it looks like Easter cakes (Easter cakes).

I liked the place, the view from the bastion is beautiful, the panorama is directly on St. Catherine's Church.
This is where the desire arose to unravel, because God himself commanded, and there was a reason, even two reasons.
After the opening ceremony, we went to another unique place - Yelets Assumption Monastery , where according to legend, during the reign of Prince Svyatoslav in 1060 on the spruce tree was found an icon of the Blessed Virgin. The Virgin. The prince believed that this was a great sign and ordered to build a temple on this site. The icon of the Mother of God is one of the most popular and amazing monuments of the temple. The monastery seemed to me an oasis of peace and tranquility, where, despite the holiday, it was surprisingly quiet, and I enjoyed its atmosphere.

Another unique church in Chernihiv is the Trinity Cathedral .

It was founded by one of the founders of the Kiev - Pechersk Lavra, Anthony of Pechersk in the 11th century. But the Cathedral was destroyed during the Mongol-Tatar invasion and revived only in 1649. But the full ensemble of the Trinity Cathedral with a bell tower, refectory and church was built in 1679 -1695 at the expense of Hetman of Ukraine Ivan Mazepa.

Trinity Cathedral is part of the complex Trinity - Elijah Monastery . The church is open to all parishioners, and the Elijah's Monastery is now closed, it is located in the Balda Mountains. We go to Boldin Mountains.
Ilyinsky Monastery is the oldest shrine in Chernihiv.
Its cave part is more than 300 meters, there are underground temples of saints.
And above the Monastery on the mountain are the Slavic mounds Gulbyshche and Bezymenny.

In general, Chernihiv impresses with its antiquity and original architecture. In the past, it was one of the largest cities of the ancient Russian state, it is about 1300 years old! It's amazing what to say!
Boldina Hora is the site of an ancient pagan temple (the temple is a pagan temple), where Anthony dug his first cave. They are called - Anthony's Caves , they were inhabited by hermit monks, but we were told that the temperature in them was only 5 degrees all year round, as they lived there in this eternal permafrost?

To do this, I had to roll an Easter egg from a high mountain with words that I do not remember, I will learn next time.

We had a sightseeing tour of the city by bus, which took us to the city center on Peace Avenue, and since it took a long time after the break-up, everyone went to eat.
And here is a big thank you to Galina, on whose advice, we chose a wonderful varenichna institution "Pampered Galya", which even has a sign "Inspector recommends". Ordered many different dishes to try. I really liked the interior of the restaurant, good food, and most importantly - everything is very tasty and relatively inexpensive. Lovers of communion, I advise their branded tincture of viburnum (Crane), I liked it.
Next, remembering Matviyka's advice, I took everyone to the "tenderly adored" cafe "Charlotte" for dessert, and I was right - the cafe is stylish, very atmospheric, desserts are delicious, good coffee, so thank you for the advice!

In general, studying and tasting
In general, studying and tasting the masterpieces of Chernihiv cuisine, I saw little of the city center, and in the afternoon was planned a trip to the ancient village of Sedniv, which I could not miss, because there is a unique building of wooden architecture
Sednev for Chernihiv is like Tsarskoe Selo for St. Petersburg, a kind of satellite. This cozy village is located on the banks of the river Sniv. Sednev inspired many artists - Taras Shevchenko and Leonid Glibov worked here.
And travelers mostly go there to see where the events of the film "Eyelashes" took place, because it was here, in St. George's Church, that Gogol's "Eyelashes" were filmed and the Miss flew under the dome of the church.
We were no exception, and of course went to see this masterpiece. The church is impressive, built without a single nail, 35 meters high, with an unusual bell inside, it looks like a rather mysterious place, full of mysticism, mysteries and ancient shrines.
The place is very crowded, which exudes prosperity and warmth. Touching the wooden walls, I did not want to remove my hands, but I wanted to stand for a long, long time and not think about anything. We were even allowed to climb the bell tower and strike the bell, making a cherished wish.
All this reminded me of a sacrament from the past, as if you had moved into the past centuries.
I didn't want to leave the church, I was pleasantly surprised that there are no prices for the rites, you can order a sorokoust and give as much money as you can, if you can, and if not, spiritual world.
Another attraction of Sedniv is the estate of the Lyzogubs, near which there is a park, where you can see Taras Shevchenko's favorite vacation spot. There is still a beautiful gazebo, but for some reason the place was tied with a red ribbon, and we could not approach it.
In the evening, inspired and renewed, we returned to Chernihiv. The next day we were waiting for an open-air ethno-museum in Pirogovo, but about this in the next story.
