Help with advice on Tunisia
I am considering Tunisia as one of the vacation options this summer. In this regard, a couple of questions arose:
1. What type of food in Tunisia is better to take? HB or ALL? taking into account the fact that a 2-day excursion to the Sahara is planned?
2. Which resort is better to choose, taking into account all the same excursions to the Sahara and the proximity of sightseeing objects in general?

Do not take Hammamet. Especially Yasmine, Tunisia Lodge Hotel 4 *

NB on nutrition is more than enough IMHO. And on excursions you can go from any city - the difference in cost is about 5 dinars. The place of rest depends on your preferences - calm relaxation, party or other. The choice of hotel will depend on these preferences, well, and on your wallet. I'm flying to Tunisia in May for the first time - so I can't really recommend anything - I collected all the information on Net.

Taking into account the trip to the Sahara, Mahdia will be the most convenient - it is closest to all other resorts. And in general, I never cease to repeat that Mahdia has the best beaches in Tunisia.

I love Hammamet most of all, Yasmine Hammamet is a more Europeanized version of the Arab city. On excursions (organized) it is convenient to go from anywhere in Tunisia, Hammamet is located in the center of Tunisia. You need to look at nutrition - in some hotels all inclusive is full, in some it is not. For example, Hammamet Garden Resorts and Spa 4 * - I like all inclusive there - eat and drink as much as you like during the day (5 meals a day), including alcoholic cocktails, beer, wine, etc. and a daily bottle of water for 1 person. In other hotels, for example, Vinci Nocha Beach 4 * - water is not issued, 3 meals a day (standard), but it has other advantages. The description of the hotel does not always contain the entire list of services provided. if you have looked at some hotel for yourself and want to clarify - write, if you rested in it, then I will answer your questions. But in general, in May it’s good in Tunisia !!!!!!))))) Vegetables are fragrant, strawberries are big and sweet and worth every penny!!!! Fly and have fun!

Mahdia has bad beaches. The sand is gray, the sea is muddy with jellyfish and algae. The beach is full of local merchants and local vacationing families. We, too, once fell for the "blue flag of UNESCO", "white beaches of Mahdia" and other nonsense. Very disappointed. Fortunately, now there are already a lot of real photos among the abundance of fake Maldivian photos with the caption "Mahdia".
In my opinion, NV is enough. And, if the vacation is in the summer, as you wrote, then it’s better to let it be the beginning of summer :))), and not July or August. The heat is wild.

It doesn’t matter where, it’s the same everywhere, I was in Hammamet - Tunisia Lodge, it’s 4 stars - it’s quiet, the food is good, we went from Hammamet to the Sahara - I liked everything. Super impressions.
аватар atinibosa
Pachok, you don’t confuse Mahdia with Monastir?)) Monastir is a bay, algae really constantly nails there, and Mahdia is a cape, and you can find a muddy sea there only after a decent storm. In normal weather, the sea is crystal clear. Local "traders" and local vacationing families are in any resort without exception. Of course, they take you to the Sahara from everywhere, but if you go from Mahdia, then, compared to the same Hammamet, the sitting time on the bus is reduced by almost 4 hours.

Thanks everyone for the replies! We'll keep thinking. Just yesterday, at work, they said that the vacation, most likely, does not shine until mid-July. I was counting on the beginning of June, so I thought about Tunisia. It’s hard for me in July in Kemer, I’m afraid I can’t stand it in Tunisia, especially considering the focus on excursions
аватар Pachok
atinibosa, I do not confuse, on the contrary - I remember very well this "puncture" of my choice of resting place. In my entire fifteen-year busy tourist life, there were only two of them, one of them is Mahdia.
The city itself stands on the cape, hotels are located along the flat coast. The sea is worse than the Sea of Azov, not crystal clear at all: (Jellyfish and algae were all 10 days, there was no storm.

Marina_T, if you don’t tolerate the heat well, in July it will be unbearable in Tunisia :( I spent the whole vacation in the pool under the bridge, where there is shade (considering that it was disgusting to swim in the sea), or in an air-conditioned room. Excursion to Carthage, Tunisia, Sidi bou said ended in a faint.
Z.Y. Excursion, by the way, good, I recommend. Only in cooler weather.

Pachok, I actually want to go to Tunisia for this excursion. So Tunisia is canceled for this summer. I will think about alternatives. Thanks again for the replies!

Pashok, here you write that for the first time you made a mistake with a vacation spot in Tunisia. I fully support you. Only I would expand a little. It seems to me that the whole of Tunisia is one big mistake. For me, it is in first place in the top three countries where I absolutely would not want to go again.
аватар Pachok
I don't want to go there either. I can’t judge objectively about all the resorts, because I was only in Mahdia. People over there write that Sousse has "turquoise sea and snow-white sand", that Hammamet is very good :) I can't comment, but there is no desire to check :)

Why am I an unpretentious and not capricious person ... But what I encountered in Tunisia is darkness and horror. And this does not apply to a hotel or a particular resort. This is the country as a whole. If I swing, I will write a story about the trip. There will also be a laugh. But rzhaka is one step away from vile dirty tricks.
аватар Mialara
You need to go to Tunisia with the attitude not to relax in style, but to see the country, visit the desert, expand your horizons. If you want comfort, luxury and cleanliness - go to the Emirates or somewhere else ..
аватар sigur62
Kolya, can I have all three countries?
Your opinion is very important to me, because our views on the rest are largely the same.
аватар Kolia_oro.egor
Bulgaria. (There are too many rudiments of "Sovka", in its worst manifestation. The country as a whole is wonderful, the people are sincere, but then someone was a little rude, there was a bully, here, on the contrary, a person showed excessive familiarity. It seems like nonsense, but some general flair not buzz.)
USA (Mikhail Zadornov, when he talks about the USA, he embellishes a lot. It’s worse there. Much worse. To delirium. To nervous laughter. I really regret that I went there. Before the trip, there was a dream country. A country of beautiful women, liberated men, a country of rock n roll and Marilyn Monroe. Now there is no dream.)
Well, Tunisia. I will write about it separately.
аватар Pachok
Funny :) My second "I don't want" is also Bulgaria!!!
But I want and plan to go to the USA, national parks are my dream, the center of the world is New York, yes, and it would not hurt to meet my nephews in person :) May I be disappointed?
аватар sigur62
Kolya, thank you.
That's about Bulgaria, not only you heard the same words. I will not go.
And I'm not going to America yet. Even more so in light of recent events. Although, like Pachok, I dream someday to see nature, great rivers and canyons of another continent, another hemisphere. Someday it will happen.
I'm going to Crimea. Such beauty as there is nowhere else. My son is about to leave there on a military ship, he will report to me in detail how everything really is there, and then I will get ready.
Thanks again, old man!
аватар Kolia_oro.egor
Eh ... How the word "military" interferes.
If not for it, then the imagination would have drawn a young guy, and with a companion, to whom the good dad Sigur 62 gave a cruise on a snow-white ship. But alas. Dreams Dreams....
аватар Kolia_oro.egor
For Pachok.
If you love nature, then you will be completely delighted with the USA. In the national pair of Moskuamaki Beach, fat lazy hares lazily ran across the road. In Florida, on an Indian reservation, crocodiles and snakes as thick as doctor's sausages threw themselves under my wheels. I also remember the funny curly mountains in the Adirandak Nature Reserve. (I, unfortunately, am indifferent to nature).
New York was different. But maybe in your head it is more like reality than it was in me. So it's not all that bad.
The main problem in the USA is people, deep ignorance, lack of interest in everything, including American, if it is not a person's profession, and too many legal slingshots and incidents in everyday life. For example, they almost took me to the police, after I, getting off the bus, gave my hand to a woman who was coming after me. And not because she thought I was molesting. But because I expressed disrespect for her gender with my gesture.
аватар sigur62
=)))
аватар Pachok
Yes, I am more by nature. I am not particularly interested in the United States in the historical aspect. I want to drive from New York west along the Lake District to the west coast to Seattle, then down to California and across the desert south of the east coast to Miami. From there, it would not hurt to take a week-long Caribbean cruise, but this already needs more time and pills for greed :)
аватар Kolia_oro.egor
My route was like this. New York - Canadian border - Niagara Falls - and further down, through all sorts of Georgia to the very south of Florida and back, through Atlantic City to New York. Along the way, there were small jerks to the right and left. It took 2 weeks. What a shame, I slipped through Washington because of heavy fog. Decided not to return.

Returning to the question itself, I’ll say that the trip to the Sahara is in any case a long one, if not Mahdia, then in general it doesn’t matter where you go from ... but with food, I would say this, if you like to go to cafes, then it makes no sense take all, and if you are more likely to lie down on the beach, take it.
