I would like to tell you about my 10-day vacation in Greece, in 2016, I have been here many times, but I came to Kallikratia for the first time. Friends gave me a ticket for my birthday, took a vacation and flew to rest. You can’t call Kallikratia a town, rather a village, at first I didn’t really like it, I thought all the rest was spoiled, but it wasn’t here, it was. The village is very quiet, calm, but everything has shops, taverns, souvenir shops, supermarkets. On Tuesday the market came, the Greeks brought fruits, vegetables, clothes, etc. in wheelbarrows. There are a lot of vacationers from the CIS countries, they met, talked, there are those who come for the whole summer.
From Thessaloniki (the second largest city 35km, and from the airport 25km. Everything is very close at arm's length.
I stopped at the Atlantis 2 + * hotel, breakfast and afternoon tea at the hotel, air conditioning in the room, TV (there is a Russian channel), iron and hair dryer (on request at the reception), refrigerator. True, hot water is a bit problematic, you need to skip it and only then hot water will come. The owners are very friendly, sociable and smiling, they responded to all my requests instantly. Good-hearted people, I talked with them in the evenings, if you want a family and warm welcome and atmosphere, then you go straight to Atlantis. Loved this place like home.
The beach is 100 meters from the hotel, sun loungers and umbrellas for a drink, sea urchins on the rocks in the water (you have to be careful), if you wish, you can walk to the neighboring beach, though it's a long way to go.
At the hotel, a girl was a separate guide, she told everything about the city and places that you can visit. There was an excursion on a cruise, I decided to take a ride on the ferry. I really liked, as far as I remember the Trident of Poseidon, a cruise between the two fingers of the peninsula. Fascinating places, and beaches of indescribable beauty, bathed from the heart. And the town we visited, I was ready to stay and live there. Greece itself is a beautiful country, every corner of the country has its own zest.
I liked everything very much, I took a break from the bustle of the city, enjoyed the Greek hospitality and atmosphere.

Composition - grandmother, grandfather, 2 grandchildren (9 months and 5 years old) and the mother of the youngest grandson. We occupied a 2 bedroom apartment.
Hotel. A small family hotel of 2 3-storey buildings standing close to each other. In the new building reception, restaurant, standard rooms. In an old building on the ground floor there are 2 rooms (apartment with 2 bedrooms) and the owners live upstairs. The hosts are friendly but not overbearing or intrusive. Out of 2 kitchen workers (they are also maids), 1 speaks Russian. The hotel only works with Mouzenidis and sites like booking. com, so the main contingent is Russians and Belarusians, there are Greeks, I didn’t notice guests of other nationalities.
According to the Greek classification, I don’t know the official category of the hotel, judging by the ratings of tour operators, this is D. Tour operators rate it as 2 * - 2 * +. It is difficult for me to give my own assessment, because. I haven’t seen standard rooms, and I haven’t lived in apartments before and there’s nothing to compare with, but I think if the restaurant was somehow separated from the reception, then it would be possible to give a solid three.
Number. We assumed that 4 adults and 2 children would go (unfortunately, 1 adult could not), this led to the choice of the room. On the Mouzenidis website, it is listed as "Family Room min 4 pax (~ 70 sq. m)". The room has 2 separate bedrooms (one has a double bed, the other has 3 single beds), a living room (2 armchairs and a sofa that can be used as an extra bed) and a separate kitchen-dining room. The main entrance from the street to the living room (a small front garden, a table with 4 chairs for those who like to sit with a view of passers-by, a clothes dryer), from the kitchen access to the patio is shared with the second apartment (a clothes dryer, a table with 5 chairs, a place for B-B-Q). There is only one air conditioner, hanging in the living room, but the 1st floor without a basement and marble (! ) floors (tiles in some places), so it was enough, even despite the fact that August was, according to locals, unusually hot. True, it was impossible to achieve a stable and uniform temperature throughout the rooms. 2 TVs, only one was checked for working capacity (it works), of the Russian channels only Kultura-RTR. There are a lot of dishes in the kitchen, there are enough plates, cups, forks for a large family. A set of pots and pans is also sufficient. The electric stove is declared with 2 eyes, in fact - with 4 burners ("slow" pancakes) and an oven (did not use). Kettle. Hot water (shower, washbasin, it also comes to the sink in the kitchen, but for a long time) from your own (in the room) boiler. The usual problem in Crete with a lack of soap (they put a small piece there, and then do not add it) did not arise - there was a bottle of liquid soap. There is a washing machine! There are mosquitoes, but not many, they didn’t use the stored electric fumigator. There is a mini-safe, no extra charge.
Strange policy regarding towels - they are rolled up and put in a pile every day. So it is impossible to make them personal and track when they are changed and whether they are changed at all (the daily replacement of towels is not announced on the tour operator's website).
The second apartment, which has a single door to the same courtyard, has the same set of rooms and beds, but the area is 1.5-2 times smaller, but the equipment is a bit newer (although there is no washing machine). I could not link it to the description of the rooms on the site, perhaps it is a rebuilt "Family Room (~ 30 sq. m)".
Breakfast. In my opinion, higher than the average treshki. Sliced sausage and cheese (1 type each), pasta (with cheese or egg) or fried potatoes, always boiled eggs and, almost always, scrambled eggs, feta, excellent yogurt. Fresh vegetables (a mixture of cucumbers, tomatoes and bell peppers) and fried (zucchini and eggplant), olives. 2 jams, chocolate paste, honey, muesli, corn flakes. Cookies, cake, often patties with feta or something similar to spinach, fried bread. Always watermelon and / or grapes, 1 time there was a melon. Coffee machine with 3-4 types of coffee and boiling water for tea, black, green, herbal tea. There is a samovar with tea already brewed, but this is for lovers of Soviet catering. Jugs with milk and cold water. Cherry and orange juices, but with the addition of ice, respectively, the concentration of the drink depends on how much ice has melted.
There is an announcement that tea and coffee can be drunk free of charge from 18:00 to 20:00, but there is a suspicion that the unit is not turned off throughout the day. We did not use it, and some people ate dinner at the restaurant (brought their own sandwiches and vegetables) or took tea in the room (in their big mug).
Hotel guide. Anastasia. A minimum of information on the proposals of Mouzenidis, and a complete zero information on objects worthy of attention outside the program of Mouzenidis. She was not even able to clearly answer a direct question about the sale of vegetables and fruits from cars (see below).
Beach. 70-100 meters from the hotel. On the beach - fine sand, the entrance to the water - sand mixed with small pebbles, then - sand. Gentle entrance to a depth of approximately 1.5 m, then a shallow shallow and then depth. To the right (closer to the port) it is deeper, to the left (to the east) it is shallower, where the water warms up faster and in general, it is better with children. But at the very end of the beach there are rock outcrops, you have to look under your feet. We were lucky, there was no serious excitement either with us or before our arrival, so the water was clear in the morning, later it was shaken a little with our feet. Naturally, we did not measure the water temperature, but in the morning it was 25 degrees (and maybe even higher), and in the evening in shallow water it warmed up almost to body temperature. On the beach, at least 3 showers with fresh water, near the hotel there was not always water. They saw only one changing cabin, dilapidated. There is a tower for a lifeguard, but we did not see lifeguards, respectively, there is no Blue Flag by the beach this year. There are no banana-cheesecakes and other things on the beach, but people on water bikes sailed from somewhere.
With the payment of trestle beds-umbrellas, we have not fully figured it out. All of them belong to the coastal cafes (opposite the Aegean Blue Hotel - this hotel) and if you make a sufficient order in the cafe, then they will not require additional payment, sit at least all day. We ordered according to the principle of 1 sunbed or chair - 1 drink. What will happen if you order less or order nothing at all - they did not check. On the beach section closest to our hotel, 4 seats under a large awning cost 18-20 euros (more expensive on weekends), to the left, almost at the rocks, they paid 11 euros for 3 trestle beds and an umbrella, but milkshakes were thinner there.
Nea-Kallikratia. Small resort town. The main part of shops, restaurants and cafes is concentrated on the embankment and the central pedestrian street (two blocks from the square near the port). But there are other places too. In particular, we found a very good and relatively inexpensive fish restaurant (the owners and staff are Russian) a little east of the eastern end of the beach, where the buildings move away from the coastline. Two supermarkets: one at the eastern end of the beach, the second (slightly cheaper) at the far end of the main street (here it is already passing), it is 700 meters from the hotel. Supermarket Lidl (positioned as cheap, but much smaller than Auchan and the choice of goods is not very good) 2 km on the road to the highway. If anyone is interested in fur coats, then there are several shops on the street parallel to the main one (closer to the hotel). As it turned out, the farmers' market (traded from cars) operates in the evenings on the far side of the square from the hotel. The prices were not checked - we just bought at the roadside collapse (we rented a car) and we had enough until the end of the vacation. The bus stop to Thessaloniki is somewhere near the church.
I found 3 banks, dollars are exchanged only in the National (on the main street, 2nd block from the square), there is also an ATM. I saw card terminals in supermarkets, but everywhere I paid in cash, so I don’t know if there are any restrictions on paying by card (last year in Crete, less than 5 euros were accepted only in cash), and whether cards are accepted in restaurants.
There are no rental offices in the city!! ! Checked with Russian-speaking locals. The car must be ordered from Thessaloniki. But at the top of the list, which google gives out, are companies that are not ready to drive a car to Nea Kallikratia. Therefore, I hope the moderators of the site will not consider the URL of the first site in the list where you can order a car delivery to this city (rent_a_car_thessaloniki. gr) as an advertisement. By the way, we got a ridiculous and sad story with ordering a car from this company. For 3 days we placed an order on the website, additionally agreed on the conditions by email (children's seats were specified). In the morning we wait and wait - no. We call the driver, a sleepy voice answers: "I'm at the airport. " - "Like at the airport, we ordered to the hotel. " - "Oh, I'll come now. " To go 30 minutes, an hour later we call again - the phone is turned off. Again we write to the company, after another half an hour they answer: “The car had an accident, we will drive it at 12:00. ” At 12:15 we write again, they answer: "We can drive tomorrow, confirm your consent. " I had to be offended and refuse. And the program has already been laid out, the paid excursion props up. But the world is not without Russian people. Even while searching for a rental office, I came across a car with Russian numbers, came up to find out how much we drove (3.5 days from Voronezh with 1 driver), at the same time complained that I could not find a rental. The hostess says, they say, here comes a friend, she lives here, we will ask her. A friend, also Russian, reports that there are no rentals here, but she has a friend (Russian) who rents cars and gave her phone number (+3.6940 7.00 02 Nadya). In general, after the failure with the company, they called this friend and agreed on everything. Moreover, they could not drive it the next day in the morning (there weren’t enough drivers), but they themselves offered to drive it late in the evening, and arrange it until the morning at the same price (by the way, cheaper than the first company). In general, except for a little lack of sleep due to the late receipt of the car, everything turned out fine. At the discretion of the moderators: website www. autoforum20. gr.

Firstly, never focus on the star rating of the hotel, listen to the advice of the managers who work with you. The location is more than good, not far from the airport (25 km), the town of Nea - Kallikratia is a beautiful place in the northern part of Greece. Everything is nearby when you leave the hotel you are surrounded by beautiful nature, taverns, shops, and of course the sea, as well as the hospitable Greek people. And so, the hotel has such a feeling that you are even better at home, so cozy and comfortable, the attitude of the hostess is just so sincere that it is impossible not to note it. always attentive. The room was already waiting for us, although the check-in was after 1.00, everything was clean and tidy, despite the fact that it was 2. . ) Nutrition. : Excellent continental breakfast, everything is very tasty, although not a great variety, but we liked everything. In the evening, free tea and coffee, a trifle, but so nice. We lived on the second floor, the balcony overlooked the road, but this did not bother us. The room was cleaned every day, clean towels, the Internet caught in the lobby, which is good in the room. I want to note that having lunch in the tavern will cost about 15 euros per person (this is a salad and two seafood dishes), I liked going to the Pirate tavern, walking along the embankment, passing the pier and here you are at the goal. )) a little tip - always have cash, as there may be a problem with paying by card. And a few words about the country itself, about sunny Greece, which is full not only of history but also of holy places where you can pray and bow to miraculous icons, asking for health for yourself and your loved ones. I advise this hotel and a place for an economical active family vacation with children who appreciate a homely cozy atmosphere.
