I choose between the Ark and the Carpathian Polonyny
I want to give my husband a trip to the "mountain hotel". I know only two of these in the Carpathians - this is in the Chernivtsi region Ark on the city of Megura and somewhere near the Kyiv-Chop highway in the village of Oriv Carpathian Polonyny. Haven't been in any of them. But, perhaps, over the past couple of years, more similar hotels have appeared. Far from civilization, in the mountains, but +/- comfortable. Who knows these? At one time, I also faced a similar choice, and read about both hotels. Almost identical in price and concept, the choice is not easy. In the Ark, I was embarrassed by the reviews, and not bad ones, but good ones. It was clearly noticeable that they are "working" on the issue, and either add reviews themselves, or persistently ask guests about it.
In addition, the Carpathian meadows are still a bigger hotel, and there are more entertainment there. For us it was important, we were traveling with children.

hatinka, what exactly do you mean by "mountain hotel"? What wishes, what is needed? If it's just on the mountain :), then I love the "Kamenka" between Mezhhirya and Synevyr. Every year we went 2-3 times while we were free.

The absence of settlements, at least in 1-2 directions from the hotel (the last hotel), on the mountain or very close to the mountains (but not under the mountains, like Buk, Tatarov, etc.). We are going to do radial hiking (not walking) to the mountains, walking 4-5 hours a day). Beautiful views. Outback. So that my eyes do not see people)))))))

"Kamenka" stands on the pass, at the very top, not in the village. In one direction, the road goes down to Mezhgorye, you can see it :), there are 10 kilometers, in the other direction - to the village of Synevyr, it is not visible, but it is closer, 2.5 kilometers.
There is no entertainment in the hotel, only a sauna and a small spa. Excellent restaurant. The territory is small. There is a forest around, you can walk. Only in one place it is not very clean, you have to go further into the mountains. But I have not seen a pure forest in the Carpathians for a long time: (((

Yes, one of my good friends WALKED through the mountains from Lake Synevyr to this "Kamenka". I don’t know how he did it, there, if on the road up to 30 kilometers, probably. And here in the mountains, not knowing where. But I did go for dinner :)

I am ready to go there from Kyiv itself for one terrace - around the first floor, with an exit from the restaurant. View directly at the sunset - you sit in a blanket (they are specially kept in the rooms), drink mulled wine or cognac, and there is nothing better in the world :). And in the morning you come for breakfast - and you are above the clouds! More than half of the rooms also face this side, but then in the evening you can hear well from the terrace.

True, it seems to me that even though the hotel itself is on a hill, it’s okay to go to wilder wooded mountains) I look at Google maps - there are higher mountains on the right. It’s not very long to go to them across the field (without a forest), don’t you remember? A big plus for me is the 30 km Treble Ritsa hydroelectric power station. There is not far from the lake, I went hiking in those places before. Now we just want to go in July and we need forested mountains so that we don’t drag around in the sun) Therefore, we want to go from the hotel to the forest and already through the forest uphill. In here, it seems, you have to go to the forest for about half an hour somewhere.

No, not half an hour, ten minutes at most. The hotel has a lift, if you see on the map, then the forest begins there and immediately the mountain goes up with a normal slope. But it's dirty down there. On the other hand, you can go even closer to the forest, but this is going down towards the village of Synevyr. On the other two sides - yes, hills without forests and lonely farms. If we consider 30 km :), then there is Kolochava, and Black River, and Synevyr.
The hotel does not have air conditioning! At least it was not in the main building and economy. Should have already started a new one, the one with the small pool, maybe there will be. This is if you don't like the heat. I myself don’t go anywhere in the summer where there is no air conditioning ...

If you want to go with close friends or family, then there is an interesting chip with economy rooms. This is a separate building, on the ground floor there is a boiler room (quiet), on the second floor there are four rooms with a shared kitchen (no stove) and a bathroom. We went that way once - great! Mushrooms were being dried in the kitchen, all the household members were dispersed into different rooms, and it was much quieter there than in the main building. With strangers in this house, of course, it will be uncomfortable.
