Who rested in the Carpathians in winter, help with choosing a place!
We are going to go in January 2012, two adults. For us, the main thing is skiing, so we are looking for a place where there is a ski slope (for beginners and amateurs) and a ski lift close (i.e. within 10 minutes on foot, so as not to get there by transport). In addition, of course, I also want to see the sights (we are most interested in natural ones); excursion possibilities. The lack of restaurants-nightclubs is absolutely not embarrassing))
We have never been to the Carpathians, so we are lost in the choice. I'm also interested in how to get there, the price-quality ratio and, in general, the price level this year. Please advise where you like it. Thank you in advance.

I recommend the hotel "Torba" ( http://www.torba.if.ua/) the service is certainly not 5 stars, but the prices do not bite, from January 13 to 24 double room 450 UAH for two, breakfast included if pay now, then 11% discount. I've been staying there for 3 years and I'm happy. The nearest ski lift is 300 meters, bullshit, for a real athlete it’s not a distance))) the main thing is to have a ski pass and mood. I already said about breakfast, you can dine right on the slopes, a set lunch from 45 UAH and up to infinity, coffee is made at every turn, you can have dinner at Natasha’s, canteen on the way to Torba

I forgot "about getting there" - I took a train from Kharkov to Iv-Frankivsk, at the railway station with a shaft of buses to Bukovel, last year (2011) an 8-seater minivan cost 70 UAH per person, a couple of hours to go. Do not forget to take your skis and equipment with you)))), rental on Buka bites. In addition to skiing and expensive excursions, there is a lot of vodka and port wine. Usually people come to have fun on skis and boards, the rest is for the rich))))

openn, at least you wrote what you mean Bukovel))))
The man wrote, he was not in the Carpathians.
marybella87, write your budget.
Since Bukovel is really a worthy place, but the first half of January is the most expensive time for both housing and gurneys.
All the people who often travel to the Buk have already looked after cheap places for themselves and will not give them up. And ski passes are more profitable to buy in the summer. In general, we stocked up back in 2007-2008 and drive them-balls.
In general, for beginners there are quite a few places besides Bukovel, for example, Plai, Izki, Migovo. These are small but good resorts. For beginners just right. Their advantage is the price. Cheaper than Bukovel (if you did not buy ski passes for promotions or you did not find your "place" on Buka for 250 UAH/double).
My husband liked Play, but on weekends it was tight with rentals and a lot of people, but on weekdays there were almost no people. There are not many trails, just right for beginners. The lifts are new (2 armchairs), they are not inferior to Bukovel.
It is not far from Volovets (Plavye village, right on the Kyiv-Chop highway).
If we consider Slavske, Pylypets, Podobovets and others, then there is old equipment.

If you are interested in skiing, then you definitely need to go to Bukovel (which is initially more expensive) or Slavske-Skole (a little cheaper) ... There are no more normal lifts (not ski lifts) anywhere ... I was in Yalynka, 18 km from Bukovel ....Breakfasts and a normal room...900 hryvnia per room per day that year. You can book at least a month before the trip on the Internet. ))
аватар hatinka
surgeon72, you are not aware)))
There are enough armchairs. Modern armchairs, as I wrote above, are Plavia (Play), Izki, Migovo.
There is also Krasia, also new armchairs.
Old armchairs in Slavske (Zakhar Berkut), Pylypets.
But that's not all.
There are a lot of yokes, we don’t take them into account at all.
There is also Dragobrat - there are already chairs and yokes. But it's not for beginners, that's for sure.

I propose to get acquainted with the hotel "Sribny Vodogray" it is located in the resort area "Sunny Transcarpathia" You can get there by train Kyiv-Uzhgorod, or direct Kharkov Uzhgorod. .ua
аватар hatinka
gisherr, but it's weak to read?
In fact, they asked for a ski resort)))
"The main thing for us is skiing, so we are looking for a place where there is a ski slope (for beginners and amateurs) and a ski lift close (i.e. within 10 minutes on foot, so as not to get there by transport)."

hatinka )))))) he is not a reader, he is a writer

hatinka - about "you mean Bukovel", all that you have listed is good, but in my opinion it is pampering and a waste of money, you can lie in the snow in Protasov Yar in Kyiv or on Vyshgora near Kyiv, but what about bringing yourself closer to the Austrian Alps? We must boldly start to get used to Bukovel, I don’t see another place in Ukraine (I’ll keep silent about the Caucasus, skiers are already being shot from Kalash there)
аватар hatinka
openn, I agree, but only if we are talking about a person who knows how to ride once and has finances for a Beech in January or two.
The person clearly does not have budget ski passes purchased in the summer or a couple of years ago. He stupidly goes to buy it at the cashier on the day of arrival. Not everyone has the money for this. The same goes for housing - not everyone will allow you to live for 400-700 UAH per day without food. That's why I'm asking for a budget.
And if you want to save money, then you can study calmly in Playa. This is a Buk in miniature, for an experienced person riding there for half a day and then it’s boring, but for a beginner it’s perfect!
The choice is the choice, that we voice everything that is available, and there the person himself will choose what suits him in terms of money, mood, requirements, comfort, etc.
аватар gisherr
For hatinka - reading is not weak, but being able to behave is important, it's about 10 minutes to the ski lift, it's all there in Solnechny, as well as wonderful sights. It's like one of the options, everyone chooses the right one for themselves.
аватар hatinka
gisherr, of course, you will forgive me, but the presence of a ski lift 300 meters long does not in any way make the sanatorium and the hotels nearby a ski resort.
And in the modern world, the presence of ski lifts in the absence of chair lifts is an anachronism.
In this case, Kyiv is just a mega-ski resort, since we already have two ski lifts.
But the fact that Polyana has mineral waters, natural beauties, opportunities for excursions is yes. As in hundreds of other villages.
If we are talking about skiing as a priority activity (and not entertainment after medical procedures in a sanatorium), then you need to go to Bukovel, perhaps consider Plai, Izki, Migovo, Slavske (Zakhar Berkut, there is nothing for beginners to do on Trostyan), Pylypets, Krasia.
Rare yokes, as in Yablunytsia, Yaremche, Yasiny, Zhdenievo, Svalyava, Podobovets, Ust-Chernaya, Upper Studen, Synevyr, Mezhgorye, Belasovitsa, Zhdeniev, Rakhiv, Khust, Svalyava, Kobyletskaya Polyana, Bogdan, Sinyak, Solochin and others are it is impossible to advise a modern person who travels from afar just for the sake of learning and then skiing.
My opinion, albeit a bit harsh.
But I agree that your suggestion is also an option ;-)

I recommend the Vorokhta hotel. It's true 1.5 km to the ski lift in Vorokhta and 17 km to Bukovel, but they have weekly tours, where everything is already "all inclusive": transfer to Bukovel, ski equipment rental, and group training for beginners the first two days of arrival. Also for those who buy a tour - discounts on ski passes - 30%. Transfer from the railway stations of Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Vorohta is also included in the price. UAH per person, where the above includes 2 more meals a day (breakfast and late lunch), excursions and hikes to choose from, evening entertainment programs. It turns out somewhere for 366 UAH per day, where it is "all inclusive". You will not find a cheaper and more interesting vacation, I guarantee you this! www.vorohta.com.ua

Hello to all.
According to my own rating,
Ukrainian ski resorts are divided into 6:
1) Resort No. 1 Bukovel.
2) Resort No. 1 along the length of the route - 3.5 km Krasiya.
3) Resort No. 1 in terms of compactness - Migovo
***hatinka
there is no armchair in Migovo.
Or built over the summer?
4) Resort No. 1 by the amount of snow * Dragobrat.
5) New resorts Play, Izki, Solnechnaya Dolina, etc. / I like them but haven't been yet. /
6) The rest.
Everywhere has its pros and cons.
At the moment I have looked at a lot and, as for me, Migovo is ideal for you.
I usually recommend it to those who are starting to ride.
prices for many resorts are on the bookit website.
Easy to book.

And another question for the connoisseurs - Solnechnaya Dolina / not far from Chernotsov / has anyone been there?
For some reason there are still no prices.

Hello marybella 87.
Here, just now, I was looking for how to move from Migovo to Bukovel - I did not find it.
But I found this tour
Migovo+Bukovel –
look. The prices are good and there are many tours.
As for us, there are very few skis.
But you did not set such a goal.
M.b. It will suit you.
