Where is the best place for novice tourists to climb Hoverla?
Dear experienced tourists!
Help me please! I invited my friends from Belarus to the May holidays in Transcarpathia. Route: Uzhgorod - Mukachevo - Beregovo - Khust - Yasinya. I want to persuade them to climb Hoverla. Tell me, please, where does the easiest climb to Hoverla begin? Perhaps you can advise guides, and maybe a place where to stay for Yasina? And in general, please share your impressions, how difficult it is, is it realistic for inexperienced people and "not the first freshness" :).
I really want my friends to like everything and that they have only good memories of our country.
Thank you in advance.
Tatyana

Your path is the ascent from the Zaroslyak sports base. There on the spot you can take the "instructor". The path is the most convenient for inexperienced tourists, as it takes 2-2.5 hours to climb. It is also the most massive - for the May holidays there will be a lot of people there. There is a high probability that there will be snow / rain / mud and wind, so do not count on a blooming spring.
There is no public transport to Zaroslyak - you need to take a UAZ from Vorokhta or fall on the tail of tourist buses.
I can recommend an instructor (he will definitely be in the Carpathians, though it’s not a fact that Hoverla is planned for him in May) - if necessary, knock on the PM.
If you live in Yasiny, then you could recommend the road from Kozmeshchik (also a sports base, but not completed), but the road is much longer. You risk not going down before dark. And one more drawback - there is a bad road 6 km from the village to the sports base itself (you need to take a car, if there are no others who want to go on the route, then the car will be expensive). Only in the case of an experienced guide and extra money can we recommend the Kozmeshchik option.

Verdict - start from Zaroslyak, always with an instructor, dressed according to the season - to the waist - full winter, top - early spring - a few blouses that you will throw off as you climb, a windbreaker jacket on top.
Will take all day. There are no special difficulties. Usually people just don't know that it's dirty, cold, windy and out of season.

In fact, this is the fastest climb, and those that are easier, so they are much longer. What if it is easier to climb on both sides of the ridge, if you have to walk a day or two to get to this place, climbing the ridge from other sides?
In 2-3 hours, a tourist without equipment and experience will not climb Hoverla from any other place! I give a tooth)))
This path is also very "stable", or something. It is relatively difficult to get lost there, there will be no ford rivers and with a 100% probability there will be a trodden path. Well, it will be dirty everywhere ;-)
Given the likelihood of snow and zero tourist experience, any other option is unlikely.
Start from the Kozmeshchik base - I described above - you need to start somewhere at 7-8 in the morning already from the base in order to go down before dark - we usually went down in the dark, however, it was winter and a group with beginners.
Starting from the village of Hoverla, it’s still from Rakhiv to go by bus for almost an hour to the starting point and then a little bit ;-) wade. Options from other places are easier (because it’s narrower from the ridge), but with overnight stays or at the pace of moose ;-)
Personally, I trampled the whole of Chernogora up and down at different times of the year, so I know what I'm talking about.
I have been to Hoverla about ten times.
I’m far from Kobylyuk, of course, this is a mega-person, no doubt!

The start from Zaroslyak is the easiest in terms of organization - people will go without spending the night. So, quickly and always (!) With an instructor.
For example, I would rush to Hoverla from the same Zaroslyak through the Meteorological Station, Lake Nesamovytoe and Turkul with a descent into the same Zaroslyak - I like this road much more. But, there is a lot of water and snow even in the middle of May, and the climb itself, yes, is very simple. But in terms of time back and forth it will be longer by 3-4 hours (minimum) + guaranteed swimming + climbing over a zherep (prickly mountain pine, shrub, dampens speed up to 0.5-0.8 km / h) ...
So, for the first time, focus on Zaroslyak, always with an instructor! And if it is Vasily Kobylyuk or Sergey Kopansky, then you are very lucky!

Many thanks for the detailed advice.
Vasily Kobylyuk wrote to me that the easiest climb is indeed from Zaroslyak.
I'll try to get in touch with Sergei Kopansky, maybe he can come with us.
Thanks again!

I can recommend an organized hike to Hoverla with an experienced instructor and a festive picnic in the bosom of nature after the descent. The ascent is carried out on the basis of the hotel and tourist complex "Vorohta". The cost is 120 UAH. per person with lunch. You will need to get to the hotel complex, which is located in the village of Vorohta, and from there buses are already organized to the foot of Hoverla. All information is on vorohta.com.ua
