Continued. Start here:
Full route: Kyiv - Medzhibizh - Zbarazh - Ternopil - Terebovlya - Buchach - Yazlovets - Chortkiv - Sidoriv - Husiatyn - Sataniv - Letychiv - Kyiv
So, the final day. Our way lay in Sidoriv - one of the most picturesque villages of Podillya. The road passes through the town of Chortkiv, which has preserved a magnificent medieval church. The main decoration of Sidorov is the castle of the XVII century. , stretching on the elongated top of the hill, covered by the loop of the river. The church (1730) has also been preserved, in the architecture of which the Baroque style surprisingly combines defensive features. Probably, it was not easy for Podolians to get used to building temples from which it is not necessary to shoot from the enemy.
From Sidorov we arrived in the hometown of Severin and Demyan Nalyvayko - Gusyatyn.
In Husiatyn, it is clear how the tasks of defending the city were distributed among representatives of different religious communities. The thick-walled Onuphrius Church (16th century), resembling a small castle, a synagogue (16th century) and the Bernardine Monastery (16th-17th centuries) lined the ancient defensive perimeter.
The trip continued to visit one of the most mysterious places in Podillya - the town of Satanov. Scientists have long been fighting over the origin of the "devil's" settlement, but can not say anything definite. Once a rich fortress town, it fought off Tatar attacks for decades, so every burgher had a weapon, and every stone building played the role of a local defense. The town also has a country defensive Trinity Monastery of the XVI - XVIII centuries. , consisting of terrestrial and cave parts. Satan also preserved the city gates of the XV - XVI centuries.
, which are unique because few buildings of this type have survived in Ukraine.
On the banks of the Zbruch there is a beautifully restored defensive synagogue of the XVI century. and the castle of the XIV - XVI centuries. .
The final point of our trip is Letychiv. All attractions are very conveniently located near the road, so it is very convenient and timeless to see the fortified Dominican monastery of the XVII century. , Artillery Tower of the XVI century. , left over from the local castle and a monument to "Podolsky Robin Hood" - Ustym Karmelyuk, buried in Letychiv. The monastery church was once famous for the miraculous icon of Our Lady of Letychev. The church now houses a copy of the image consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI. The final touch of the trip is a visit to the famous fish market in Ukraine.
Smoked, dried, dried fish from the Bug and the Dniester from local producers - a wonderful hotel from Podillya.
