Drivers! We need your experience in the quality of roads in Transcarpathia!
We leave in three days. 1. What is the best way to get from Kyiv to Ivano-Frankivsk? 2. How to get from Rakhiv to Synevyr (through Dragovo or Dubove). 3. Is it possible now (there seems to be no snow) to get by car to Lake Synevyr?

There is no road through Dubove and never was on the Ruska Mokra-Kolochava section. There is a pass, primer, mud. In summer, you can drive a jeep / levovoz. In winter, this is questionable. The road through Drahovo is beautiful, especially along the Treble-Ritskaya hydroelectric station. But it's very poor quality. Tin) But beautiful, I repeat. On the other hand, to Lake Synevyr (this is beyond the village of Synevyrskaya Polyana, not to be confused with the village of Synevyr) is the same tin. Even a tad better.
Somewhat better road through Iza, but further. I would choose along the hydroelectric power station, if there is time, to go during the day. Moreover, Kolochava is a very, very colorful village, there are many museums, there really is something to see. One day from Rakhiv and back, it will be very tiring, given the short daylight hours, it’s doubtful ... If you don’t return to Rakhiv, plan through Drahovo, but keep in mind that it’s a long ride, the road is rubbish in places. If you need to quickly get to Synevyr, through Iza.

And you can look at Kolochava-Komsomolsk here) Or google, there are a lot of videos of off-road jeepers, bikers, etc.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q29Trob9q_o

Well, thank you! No wonder he asked. I could go through Oak.
We need to get from Yaremche to Volovets. We want to leave Yaremche at 9 in the morning, stop in Vorokhta (look at the arched bridge), then stop for a short time in Dragovo (if there is something to see there), also stop for a short time in Kolochava and then in Volovets (final stop) . Do you think we'll make it before dark? If the roads are bad, I won’t go fast, I feel sorry for the car. Probably without Synevyr, there will not be enough time for him. All the way Google shows 280 km.
In general, Google shows another way from Yaremche to Volovets (through Kalush, Dolina, Torun). And in short - 225 km. And probably enough time to get to the lake, maybe even to Kolochava. Do you think it could be better? We sacrifice the arch bridge, the Romanian border, Vorokhta, Drahov.

"We sacrifice the arch bridge, the Romanian border, Vorokhta, Dragov ". '
I do not particularly see what to sacrifice there) And what in Dragovo? Of course, it is better not to go from Yaremche to Volovets via Rakhiv. For some reason you make a circle, but for some reason it is not clear. Yes, the road from Yaremche to Volovets is different. But the Myslivka-Vyshkiv site is also not a gift. For example, here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AHGfSVEFjI Well, in some places, you can find such sites almost everywhere. I think it is better than Kalush-Stry-Volovets. On Kyiv-Chop then there will be a good section of the road from Stryi. But if you still go to Lake Synevyr, then through Kalush, Vyshkov, Mizhhirya. Check out the hotel on Synevyr Pass, on the way to the lake - Kamyanka. Very cool view hotel! Then at least a quality road is compensated by a beautiful lake and a cool hotel with a great view. And if you go through Transcarpathia, you need to imagine exactly why to go. Romanian border, bridge is doubtful.
Treble-Rytska HPP, Kolochava, again Synevyr-da, you might think.

And the Romanian border is what and why? If it `s not a secret

You know, you have planned that wherever you go, there will still be terrible sections. Here is a video of 13, however, years old. Yves-Fr-Stry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-bZPhOd3S0 Well, the pits are notable, but here at least the pits are patched up periodically. Yes, and gas stations, tire shops, there are people + a piece of Kyiv-Chop. The road through Vygoda/Myslivka/Vishkiv is generally deserted. I know a lot about her from mushroom pickers))) But she’s beautiful) You need to leave very, very early in the morning, have a spare tire with you, and preferably two)))) and don’t go fast. Google is lying in the calculation, since you simply cannot realize the allowed 60 km, you will drive 30-40. And along Kyiv-Chop you can go 100+. Well, to Stryi, if the road is patched up, then 60+. And it will be faster. And it’s worth stopping by in Kamyanka, if at least you don’t spend the night, then eat in their panoramic restaurant, there is a cool terrace.

But, to be honest, you do not have time to drive Yaremche-Volovets + see the lake. Synevyr, Kolochava. Well, until dark, nope. Well, or not at 9 to leave, but at 6. Google gives an unrealistic time - there on the lake from the highway towards SinevPolyana and then telepath to the lake for more than an hour, although it’s quite a bit in km. There is such a road to Kolochava that half of the taxi drivers are not lucky in that direction, to the Treblerit ges, for example. Local taxi drivers refuse or break the price, you know?)))) It turns out, whatever one may say, to go for a long time and a lot, but why for the sake of it is not clear ... You either need to spend the night there in the Synevyr / Kolochava area. Or separately from Volovets to come for the whole day. In addition, it’s still possible to walk to the lake from the barrier (well, or pay something, I don’t remember 50 or 80 hryvnia), everything closes there early, for example, trade. They may not let you in if you arrive late. When we arrived, it was getting dark and they didn't let us in. Although it was summer ... Well, if it suddenly snows, then such a level of the road as through the Myslivka or through the Drahovo will not be cleared right away ...

Thanks for the advice. Finally got around to answering. We've already gone. The road Iv-Frankivsk - Stry is not the same anymore. Everything is patched up, there are no holes at all. We never got to Kolochava and the Treblerit hydroelectric power station, which is a pity. In general, everything was like this: we decided to go all the same through Rakhiv, Dragovo, Synevyr - where we have time, we will have time there. But when they woke up in the morning, seeing snow and ice in Yaremche, they abandoned this idea. All the more low clouds, respectively, no view and continued snow (12/29/15). We decided not to tempt fate (although we love it very much) and went to Volovets as you advised (the best road) through Kalush, Dolina, Stry. The road is excellent. We left at 10 and arrived in Volovets already after dark, almost at 6. On the way, we stopped for a couple of minutes in Morshyn and Slavske / Zakhar Berkut. The only thing we decided to do back was to shorten the road and drove from Tukhlya to Plavia. 12 km - 1 hour. The road is very bad.

The next day we went to Lake Synevyr. From Volovets the road took 1.5 hours one way, and the last 10 km drove for 30 minutes, if not more. And on the lake 1 hour, if fast. It was frost 12-14. We went up to the lake on horse carts (80 UAH - 1 cart + 12 UAH entrance to the reserve from an adult). Climbing the lake we met a couple of passenger cars, i.e. you can drive to the lake by car (even in the snow, as in our case). A few words about the quality of the roads: Rogatin - Iv-Frankivsk - a new road, Iv-Frankivsk - Yaremche - Bukovel - good, without holes. Iv-Frankivsk - Pistyn - good, without holes. Iv-Frankivsk - Dolina - Stryi - good, without holes. Stryi - Slavske and Stryi - Mukachevo - Beregovo (or Koson / Kosino) - a new road. In general, I liked the roads, everything was repaired. A very bad road was from Busk (Lviv-Rivne highway) to Mazov (Lviv-Ternopil highway)
