A recent example: you need to get from Dnepropetrovsk to Donetsk, and two weeks later, back (in terms of complexity, well, it’s just a round-the-world cruise :) two connections - arrival time is important! I arrive 12 days in advance - no tickets on sale! I take it back and forth on uncomfortable trains, and with some difficulty I find out that the sale opens 10 days in advance??? I come for 9 days - no sales.
Finally, in a week I take a ticket there, hand over a "reserve" ticket "there" and stay with an inconvenient ticket "back". They will say, well, this is an electric train, but it goes on an intercity schedule!

I also met with this all the time when you try to get a ticket on the eve of the holidays. First you come, they say: the sale has not started, come 20 days in advance, you come on the day when they said there are no more tickets. I just had to go to the bus station. And there it’s even “funnier”: they say: we sell only there, and on the way back, ask relatives or friends to go to the station there and buy it back.
