Car rental and trip to St. Nicholas Church in Demre and Kemer
Dear colleagues!
Please share your knowledge if you don't mind.
1. Where is the best place to rent a car in or near Botanica? How much does this pleasure cost? Are there any features to consider?
2. Is it possible to take a rental car in Demre to St. Nicholas Church in one day with children (the youngest is 9 years old) (about 250 km one way)?
3. They say on the way to Kemer there is a “Burning Mountain” (in the village of Cirali), the birthplace of chimeras. Is it possible to go there in one trip?
4. Is it not very difficult to return to the hotel at dusk on mountain roads?
5. Isn't such a trip very risky? (we ourselves are experienced autotourists with a very long experience and driving experience in Moscow, etc.)

When you rent a car, pay attention to all the scratches and. etc., demand to record their presence on paper so that they don’t require you to repair later, check if you have insurance on the car. The cost is about 50 dollars per day. Going back and forth along the route you described is real, but just going back and forth without a tour. It takes an hour and a half to go to Antalya and another 2-3 hours to Kekeva with a stop. 250 km is fast on the highway, and in Kekova the road is a continuous serpentine, there is a segment where you pass 90 turns, every 200m turn 90 degrees. You understand that you can’t accelerate much on such a road. This is a road near the sea. There is a "short" road through the mountains. In terms of distance, it is really short, but in some places there are turns every 50m, the road is 2 lanes, if you catch up with someone, it’s not realistic to overtake until you reach an open place. When you go, there is a huge mountain on one side, a cliff on the other. So it's up to you to decide whether your Moscow experience on local roads will help.

Dear ani_veik, thank you very much. Judging by the answer, you are a very experienced traveler.
If it doesn’t make it difficult, share your opinion, which brand of car for such roads is better to rent?
One friend said that he regretted not taking a jeep (Isuzu Trooper), although there was such an opportunity.
He says that in the mountains he was afraid that the rented city sedan would be damaged through his fault (he drove into the dense jungle there, looked at some abandoned city with the letter C in the Magawat area).

I'm not a traveler, I live here in Antalya :) You can really get to many interesting places by jeep. I live in Konyaalti near the mountain itself, I thought beyond the mountain there were also just mountains. Yesterday with friends by car we went just over the mountain. It turned out there is a continuation of Antalya, we went to a restaurant where the locals come to have breakfast. The restaurant was made on a cliff to the river, something was riveted from the boards in the form of birdhouses, some over the cliff, some on the trees. We sat in one of these on couches with a rug. Other people chose tables in the creek. The table stands right in the river, everyone takes off their shoes and lowers their legs into the water so that it is not hot. This is really local color! I think there are also such places near Alanya. Ask local Russian speakers. The road in some places was good asphalt, and in some places not so much.. In general, roads in Turkey are quite good and a sedan is suitable for ordinary trips, but for such trips, of course, a jeep is the one.

The Jeep is expensive considering their gas prices, I always take something smaller. In the evening, if everything goes without incident, you will already be on your way back in the Antalya region, and from there to Alanya there are no straight highways, it’s better not to break, but the roads are excellent, and in some places it’s blasphemy. Take the calculation of 5-6 hours one way + lunch + two hours for the temple. I go almost every year though from Kemer, pah-pah-pah so far without "adventure".

From Kemer twice as close, from Alanya to Kemer, about 200 more km must be added.

car rental costs from 60 dollars and more, depending on the brand) per day, but still gasoline here is 4.5 Turkish lira. So the pleasure is not cheap. You can take the hotel bus to Kemer (free of charge).

Thanks to everyone who answered!
We have already gone, it was literally a happy trip. Hurray for Turkey (I fell in love with it very much, probably because everything went so well because I fell in love, by the way, hated our constant scoop even more along the way) and Botany cheers (it turned out to be a very honest hotel, everything was on the table for the guest, as they say).
In general, everything planned was carried out. And the Botanist was ideally located, in the center of attractions, we left it and returned for lunch :-) and then set off again.
They took a Fiat Linea car for 2 days right in Botanica (with a break per day), it costs a penny, $ 60 per day (not a day). It helped a lot that they prepared and downloaded a cool map of Turkey into the smartphone, she knew all the alleys.
We went to Alanya by GPS, there is an excellent fortress, right next to the Davlatash cave, we sat next to it in a cafe by the beach.
Then on the same day (with a stop at Botanik for lunch, swimming and after-sleep :-) we went to Side, from there to Seleucia (!) and the Manavgat waterfall along the way.
On another day, we went to Cirali, to watch the Chimera (burning mountain) and the Antalya Museum and the city itself.
Everyone there was also very nice. Especially swimming in Cirali - it was unforgettable, there is simply no one there, we were almost alone. Oh choir!
