I'm going for the first time, how much money to take?
We eat with my husband in early July in Sousse. Meals - half board. How much money you need to take with you to have enough for excursions (to the Sahara, of course), entertainment, souvenirs (many birthdays in July :)). What about prices in cafes and restaurants? Tallas therapy is not included in the plans. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Sugar will cost about 150 bucks per person.
I advise you to bring olive oil, date cognac, they have good wine. Well, magnets, of course.
I had tourists in Mahdia, I can check the prices for the above with them. but this is a different resort and I don't know how much they will differ from the prices in Sousse

Yes, Sahara is about 150 dollars (who will pay for how much!)... There is no date cognac in nature!!! Wine is lousy!!! Magnets are about $1 each. Yes, do not take any crap .... bargain, do not grab everything on the first day. Look through similar questions here 1-2-3- years ago ... There are a lot of things written there.
The more money you take, the more you spend... My friends went to a paid hotel with HB for a week and managed to skip 5 pieces... They bought various nonsense, rolled it in a taxi... steamed it in a thalasso. In general, the Tunisians "vzuli" them in full.
Tunisia is a relatively cheap country in terms of shopping ... do not get carried away, remember that you have to pay for excess baggage ... and not a little.

rosé wine, if you take it in stores, is not bad. the taste and color of markers are different as they say.
and cognac, the locals badyazhat - they pour dates with cognac and after a month such an extract is obtained.

Lunch: very large portions, for a man to eat salad, fish with a side dish, brik (their kind of pasties) and drink something - VERY DIFFICULT. Price - 13 dinars (in dollars divide by 1.4, in rubles multiply by about 22) . As souvenirs - buhu (local vodka on dates - 4 euros in duty free), Tibarin - herbal liqueur - 8 euros 0.75 liters.
And you can ask your meeting guide - there will most likely be a Russian in Sousse.

2 days back: Tibarin is in the local general - 43 dinars (divide by 1.8 to the euro) .... roughly - 20 euros per bottle ... Not cheap at all ... Average lunch with a not very large portion (1 fish + salad + french fries + a glass of water) costs 10-13 dinars (1.5 euros)

As for the wines of Tunisia - let me intervene: quite worthy wines, and at the end of the 90s they were certified with the participation of foreign experts (from France, Italy, Spain - neighbors in the Mediterranean region).
I remember that on my first visit I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the pink "Carthage" wines - with pickled local cheeses and olives or with grilled flounder - a wonderful accompaniment! Especially if gourmet, getting out of the hotel.
Returning home, I found from well-known experts (Hugh Johnson) information about the tradition of growing vines and the tradition of winemaking in northern Africa (Tunisia, Algeria).
I really liked the country both for relaxing by the sea, and as a place to get acquainted with the traditions of northern Africa (Maghrib), relatively close (by flight) and with a slight "French" touch in the resorts and original in the outback.
I remember that a "wine tour" around the country was even developed a few years ago (more info at the link - it seems that there is also an English version. Version: www.magharebia.com/cocoon/awi/xhtml1/fr/features/awi/reportage/2007 /03/02/reportage-01).
Of the memorable wines - Tébourba and Le Noble de Mornag.
