I am interested in historical places where I can stay to see more and have a good rest?

Choose any. Excursions from all cities do. And Tunisia is not such a huge country that distances drastically affect the choice of a resort. Hammamet is closer to the capital, Carthage, Sidi Bou Said. From Sousse closer to the Sahara. The sea is cleaner in Sousse. Excursion more interesting to the Sahara. The nightlife here and there is so-so. Choose according to your priorities.

Closest to the Sahara and El Jem (there is the Colosseum) from Mahdia. And in Mahdia itself there is an excursion to Cape Africa: a lighthouse, a very picturesque, so to speak, an ancient cemetery near the "Gate of the Sea" - the remains of the wall that protected the cape, etc. and in Mahdia the best beaches in Tunisia.

if you do not take into account excursions, but you want an evening promenade every day, then the cleanest thing is in Port el Kataoui. I would put Hammamet with its Yasmine district in second place. and then Mahdia and Suss.

Mahdia is a reservation. Outside the hotel there is no infrastructure, not even shops. If you want a relaxing holiday without leaving the hotel, then yes. If you are an active person, then you will sour with longing there! Port el Kataoui is near Sousse, so it doesn't matter where you stay, you can drive here and there.

Mahdia is not a reservation, but a cape)) Hotels are located along one side of the cape, and not mixed in the city, so the hotel zone is somewhat isolated from the city. The infrastructure of Mahdia, as in any Tunisian city - shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. Undoubtedly, Mahdia is smaller than Sousse, respectively, there is less entertainment there.

Personally, if I get together for the 2nd time in Tunisia, I will watch the Yasmine Hammamet area, with at least 4 * with a rating above 4.5.

The words should not be taken literally. Reservation - in the sense of the isolation of the rest. Silence, peace, sadness. But I just liked Sousse more, the sea is cleaner there, but the sand is better in Hammamet-Yasmine. But here and there it's still bullshit! Compared to other countries! )))

Partly agree with the last author. I liked it more in Egypt than in Tunisia, in many ways.

I would advise Monastir, the city itself is more beautiful than Sousse and Hammamet, in my opinion, Monastir has a good beach, there are hotels in the city, and 10 minutes from it, the atmosphere is less touristy, you can at least take a walk around a real Tunisian city, and not by the fact that it is specially exhibited for tourists. There is also the mausoleum of the first president, locals walk around it in the square ... I can’t say much about Tunisia, but it seems like all the hotels are outside the city. and the city is large, but there is something to see, of course.

I advise you to definitely take a trip to the Sahara for 2 days, travel around almost the entire country, see many cities, interesting and beautiful places.

Exactly! This is generally the most vivid impression of Tunisia - the Greek amphitheater, the scenery for the movie "Star Wars", troglodyte caves, an oasis, camel rides, jeep rides, salt lakes ... And all in 2 days!

I constantly hear delight from a tour of the Sahara for 2 days. Can I see a photo report of this beauty somewhere?
And by the way, where do they sleep?

Overnight in a small hotel in the town of Douz, nothing special, but everything is there, a pool with mineral water, the water is warm, it is very pleasant to wash off the sand ... It is very dusty, but the Sahara is 300 meters away, so this is not surprising. The food is not the most varied, but in the evening everyone is hungry, and at 3:30 in the morning with lack of sleep it’s the same as eating.
And I'll unload my photo report and drop the link).

Very nice on Djerba. There is a crocodile farm, an interesting survey, and for 2 days, be sure to go to the Sahara, as already advised.
