first meeting with Tunisia

Written: 12 april 2009
Travel time: 6 — 20 july 2008
We rested in this hotel with 3 children and with my mother. We went to Royal Salem but settled us here, which, to be honest, I do not regret at all. The hotel is very good and clean. They settled us without any problems somewhere in 30 minutes, they gave us a good room and at no extra charge, the windows overlooked the city, and the forest was visible from the side, although when we were settled it was night and the sea was not visible. In the morning, the first thing I decided to change a room with a sea view, but the surcharge for such a room was 14 dinars per day, and even then there were none. shock at the sight of the sea : ), at least from the side, but still there, and you could also climb onto the roof and admire the views there. The room, although not brand new, is very decent, the plumbing is in order, only the radio did not work, but I think it not really needed. By the way, there was also a remote control without any deposit, the towels were not smelly, as many people write, the color is not beautiful, but this is not the main thing. They cleaned every day, washed the floor with jasmine, left a dinar.
They fed very well for breakfast, even a 1.5-year-old child was full. On the 2nd day we had our own waiter, so we no longer had problems with the table, when we came he was free. There was also a lot of food for dinner, I especially fell in love with cakes : ). Of the fruits, there were only grapes (sour), peaches (you can kill them) and plums, but very rarely, in large quantities, watermelon and melon. At lunch, things were worse because the hotel was half board, and we lived on all inclusive, but we didn’t remain hungry, and if you didn’t eat enough, you can go to the beach or eat pancakes (for a fee) by the pool. The problem with food for kids, after breakfast is hard than- then feed, since the soup is something like our maggi or just a lot of spices. And with a side dish, too, my daughter only eats mashed potatoes, and it was there only 2 times in 2 weeks. It’s good that there was a market nearby where you could buy baby food and dairy desserts. Tips were left everywhere for a dinar a day, it seems not a lot, but a free table is provided for you.
The beach and the pool were cleaned every day, I was shocked by the amount of chlorine in the pool. I went to the beach at 7 in the morning to take a sunbed, so passing by the pool I was horrified, somewhere about a meter wide around the pool and showers everything is strewn there was bleach, not counting how much more there is in the pool, and people there swim and sunbathe all day. There were jellyfish in the sea from time to time, but after a while we learned to get along with them, the main thing is to notice them in time, and sometimes we caught them. They sting very painfully, but if you rub it with sand, it becomes easier.

There were a couple of unpleasant moments. A couple of towels disappeared from the room, but they took a lot and therefore didn’t notice right away. I began to wait for the guide, because I don’t speak English well. For four days he lay there, another towel was added to it (there was a very strong wind and it was blown away). The guide appeared, I explained my problem to her, she went to the reception and explained everything and she told me to go up to the room and show where I had and what had fallen. When I went up to the room and went out onto the balcony, there was nothing, and 2 cleaners cleaned downstairs, they told the boy who went with me that there was nothing there . Back at the reception, I told the guide all this and she went to figure it out and she was told the same thing. We climbed onto the roof to talk with these cleaners, but to no avail. they say it was not there. It was very it’s not pleasant, as if I have a problem with my head. I also lost $ 200 from the safe at the very beginning, when there was still a pack. Then a couple of times I had the safe open, but apparently there was nothing to take. From all this, I concluded that it is necessary to take the minimum and it is advisable to put everything in a suitcase. If things have fallen, you must try to get them yourself, at least get a ladder somewhere. It is better not to take cash or in small quantities, but rather a credit card. Well, try not to forget your things anywhere, because if they get to the staff, they will not return to you.
I won’t say much more about the hotel, there are very few Russians here, mostly French, English, Italians and everyone wants to communicate, so learn the language. but we talked : ). Children are very loved here, my daughter was so spoiled that when I tried to force her to eat she ran to complain to the waiters : ).
Vacationers are mostly over 40, there are practically no young people. The hotel is very quiet, the night club may have worked, but I only saw when there was a transvestite show, then it worked, and it was once a week. But for those who want to have fun, this is not a problem, since there is a hotel not far away in which there is a night club and there is still not much to drive to 3 night clubs.
In general, the place is very good, if there is no entertainment on the territory, except for the music in the evenings by the pool, then there is a lot behind it, there is an amusement park, a mini zoo, near the port where you can ride a yacht, singing fountains, but they apparently have a schedule. Sousse 15 minutes by tuk-tuk, I didn’t take a taxi, because it was very hot.
And even before you go for souvenirs, take a look at the shop in the hotel, there are a lot of things at lower prices. The local seller very persistently taught me how to say thank you in Tunisian and goodbye : ).
At the expense of extending the room. The guide told me to come after breakfast and they would extend it without any problems, it’s good that I approached him.

I don’t speak English well, so I learned a phrase to extend the number and I’m happy to go to the reception, they immediately break me off and say that my number is already reserved. I’m trying to explain that I have a night flight, that I agree to another number, they understand, but again there are no numbers. A woman from my own flight comes up with the same problem and she is also sent. Thank God that she came and we were able call the guide (my phone "attached legs"), she talked to the reception and they agreed to put us in one room. We are two families, I have 5 people (3 children) and she has 4 (2 children). I had to agree to this not to sit all this time in the hall. And then a miracle happened, I don’t know what our desperate faces did or not, but they left us our numbers, but only until 6 o’clock for 40 dinars. So we sat in the hall for only 3 hours.
I can say one thing, with what attitude you are going, so you will rest, even "unpleasant moments" did not spoil my vacation for me : )! I am absolutely delighted and will gladly come back to this hotel!!!
Have a good holiday everyone! !
