Palm tree from Tunisia?
Write who bought a palm tree in Tunisia and did it survive with them, which are sold everywhere and are offered on the beaches daily?
I bought it at the market back in October, planted it and now I see that it is starting to dry out. Are these my shortcomings or their deceit?

I have dried up...

I bought two date palms, both survived.
When buying, I checked the roots so that they were not rotten, planted them at home in special soil, put them in the sun and did not overdo it with watering.

Palm trees bought several times, all died. Dates are practically not sold there. This is only if they agreed with the gardener and he carefully dug somewhere. Weed palm trees are sold in bulk. They are stupid in agriculture, they are only suitable for landscaping. In general, they pull out with tractors and hoes, as we have wheatgrass and throw them on heaps. Long roots still remain in the ground and the cycle repeats. And enterprising citizens pick them up and sell them on the beach. I know a couple of places in Hammamet where these palm trees are piled up, and there they dry out. The locals directly laugh that we are dragging them and trying to resuscitate them. It's cx garbage. Lucky if it sprouted. I know we can't keep them outdoors. Our local scale insects, spider mites and other pests bite them at the moment. Most importantly, go through the green control at the airport with them. It is better to breed rosemary and agave, these take root better and there is more sense from them. How many times did not carry oleanders - also not a single one survived, although they attracted a certified botanist for resuscitation, all to no avail!

I also forgot: plants for breeding must be taken no later than June 10th. In summer it is already more difficult, and in autumn and winter - just thrown out money or extra cargo. It is necessary to take into account the period of active growth. At the same time, it’s better not at the beach vendors, but at the garden center (well, they have such enclosures along the roads). It won't be more expensive. But you make sure that the plant is alive. And the fact that some Ahmed picked up from a pile and put it in a jar of water is not necessarily alive. Green - yes, but for now. . . until you planted houses in the ground. This is where it starts to die. With other plants that are directly in the soil, everything is easier - they pulled it on the last day of the trip and put it in a suitcase. Agave itself sheds "kids" with roots. Usually they lie near a drying up material bush from which a tall shoot (like a lamppost) sticks out. That's what flies around the pole, then pick it up. And the old bush will die along with the pillar, and this is natural. Together with the soil, you can buy an olive seedling, it definitely takes root in apartments. Just do not need to transplant into black soil. Invent clever methods of transportation yourself. I know for sure that Tunisians do not mind. Only our services are against.

I didn’t buy it myself, but whoever bought it before said that it was a hoax, especially on the beach.

Yes, of course, not on the beach.
It is quite easy to determine a living plant or a dead plant by its roots.
Scale insects and mites do not attack, maybe because in 10 years of growing plants at home, I have never had pests at all. I take only the Dutch POCON earth and additionally ignite it on fire. No suspicious sprouts from neighbors and other unverified places.
Palm trees - date, but there were also fan palms on sale. What are weeds? I've never heard...

A friend brought a sprig of small yellow dates 6 years ago. Now I have two palm trees grown from seeds in an ordinary flower pot and plain earth. I transplanted one - there are a lot of roots that cannot be cut, although there is a solid lump (they die when pruned). Tunisia. city of Sousse.

yes, the surest way to get a palm tree is to simply dump the seeds from fresh dates into a pot of earth. Sometimes germination can be delayed for 3-4 months, but a few will definitely survive. Subsequently, this palm tree will be quite healthy and will live for a long time. Once, after pecking a bag of Tunisian dates, more than 100 sprouts sprouted in me, all the windows were lined with a layer. cups with sprouts, all friends, acquaintances, employees and neighbors received palm trees!
