We were in Tavorna, your hotel is right behind it, the fence is in the fence, it is located, so to speak, perpendicular to the sea, along the side street, and so, the exit from your hotel is just on the shopping and snack street, however, there is a cafe on it not much, more ateliers and tourist shops. But in the same square from the sea along the highway there are more cafes (towards Kata), you will figure it out, one outing - and you are aware of the local topography. Of all the cafes, we liked the food more than others - it is practically opposite the entrance to your hotel, the name remained a mystery to me, but the signs are such - not a tent, like a cafe by the sea, but a normal cafe, as usual without a front wall, there between the tables small oblong structures-ponds, fish swim in them. Everything is more impressive than canopies, but a little more expensive, but tastier. And along the sea, sheds, in a row, are cheaper there, but also good, they open by 5 o'clock, bring fish, sea food, ice. There are also macaroons near the traffic lights, you will go past them, you will find them, although there are very few of them, especially in summer, it happens by 10 pm one stands with the remnants of food.
On foot to the isthmus of Kata, about 15-20 minutes walk, there is better service and food. Ride a bike for 2 minutes.

By the way, I advise you to eat well at breakfast, from my own experience and the experience of many - it lasts almost until the evening - it's hot, humid and there is no hunting during the day. And so, first you eat up seafood, fruits, and then hunting potatoes and meatballs. Yes, in the row of canopy cafes along the sea, we liked where 2 girls were - make no mistake, one is very thin (usually a waitress) and the other is very fat (usually a cook). They have mashed potatoes on the menu, which in fact turned out to be a huge crumbly potato baked in foil piping hot (they cook the action "in front of you") - after the local fast food - shrimp, it seemed unearthly yummy! Portions are large, but only Thai dishes, take 1 plate of noodles for two, no bread, sometimes eat as a separate dish - garlic toast. Anyway, bon appetit!

to go to Tai and not eat their cuisine? I’ve returned to Ukraine and after Thai food I can’t eat anything of ours at all. The body begins to simply fight with this food. The food there is light and delicious. And most importantly natural. Eat only her. And you won’t get better from it, no matter how much you eat. You just need to know what to order so as not to order something very spicy. For soups, try Tom Yum Kun, but say "know spicy". Then soup Green curry, Red curry. Of the "second" courses, everyone likes Kau pad kun (fried rice with vegetables and shrimp), Pad tai kun (fried rice pasta with local herbs and shrimp), suki kun mai mi naam (I don’t even know how to explain what it is, just try it) If you want to try all this not with shrimp, but with chicken, then instead of the word "kun" say "kai", if with pork, then say "mu" That's the whole secret. Buy more fish grilled in salt or baked in garlic. And their skewers. .. You will see that after this you will not want sausages with potatoes. Just do not eat in restaurants, so as not to get poisoned. Only on the street in Thai cafes, although they are not very attractive in appearance. But take care of your stomachs, the food there is of high quality, and in restaurants it is often expired.

And what about the price tag? How much will lunches and dinners cost me as an immodest eater and two picky family members?

in a purely Thai cafe, the "second" of the ones I listed above costs 30 baht, a maximum of 40. Soup 50 baht, a maximum of 70. For one, a completely normal portion, so you don’t want to eat anymore. The cooler the establishment, the worse the quality of food and the higher the price. So soup in a restaurant can cost 300 baht. See where to eat.

It is impossible to display average prices in Phuket, focusing on Pattaya.
There are simply no other places to eat near Orchid and Tavorn other than those that I described, and I won’t say that it’s cheap there (although Thai dishes are undoubtedly cheaper, but the simplest ones are noodles there, rice, and seafood is certainly not cheap, even within the island in Patong and Katya everything is cheaper and the choice is much richer). And you have to go to other food establishments, or the closest thing is to walk to Kata - this is a test in the afternoon. Yes, and do not run into lunch and dinner.
And in this area there are no purely "Thai" cafes, this is a resort area where there is no village and local residents to whom they would be intended, everything is focused on tourists, if you only look on the 2nd street behind the hotels, but there is a high-speed road, a ring road, so to speak island, something we didn’t see much there.

How nice to read posts from adequate people! Alyonushka, my respect! Everything is absolutely correct! In the resort area, in the area of Karon and Kata, if you look for Thai cafes, then the farther from the hotels, the more chances. Someone will salivate, shouting that a Thai cafe is right next to the hotel, and for 15 baht you can crack from the abundance of food. But this is not true and a waste of time. In Karon, the only way to find something for Thais is to go from the intersection of st. Patak and alley (in which Phuket Orchid stands) towards the gas station. And, after 2-2.5 kilometers something Thai will appear. I remember eating rice there late at night. 50 baht. Prices are also not quite NON-resort. In Patong, there is more choice due to the dense population of this beach. And, given the competition and the presence of local residents, there are also cheap cafes. Again, a plate of fried rice with seafood and an egg (kapao seafood kai dao) costs at least 60 baht. The average price in Phuket Town is 40 baht. I know such vacationers who did not feel sorry for the time (40 minutes one way) to travel every day to the town for lunch and dinner. This is not counting the cost of a taxi. . .

It’s not the right word, Waldi, it’s just that there is some kind of throwing slogans, clichés and often advertising, and most importantly, to help a person navigate, write the truth, if I was and I know, then I write, especially since the question is not in general about Thailand, but quite specific about a specific area in Phuket. After such advertisements, people feel deceived, I know for myself how they will describe everything like in a fairy tale, but when you arrive - and where is happiness? It is better to go with your eyes open and know what to expect than to go naive and be disappointed. Nobody says that there is no Thai food there, that it is not tasty, it is wonderful there, but you should not wait for manna from heaven after all. Or go somewhere else, for food - to Pattaya, for example, it's cheaper there, although in recent years, they say everything has risen in price.
And who better than you, Waldi, to know us better about Phuket, because as I understand it, you live there.
