Holidays at the Botany Beach Resort in early February. The hotel left only positive impressions and positive emotions. So in order.
FLIGHT. We flew from Kyiv with UIA direct flights to Bangkok, I will say that I liked the service, food, UIA service, the only thing was the board itself was a bit old, but I was expecting a wonderful holiday, so this did not overshadow the beginning of my trip at all))
Cancellation of visa for Ukraine. When I flew to Tai, I already knew that the visa on arrival was canceled for us, the migration cards were filled out on the plane, but at the airport it turned out that their form was already outdated and new ones were issued. The only negative of the airport staff is that almost no one speaks or understands English, i. e. did they have to communicate in sign language? Although perhaps we just came across those who did not know the language
We spent about 4 hours at the airport, which of course got tired after a long flight. It seemed to me that the queues in Bangkok would never end, but after going through customs and passport control, finding our suitcases and the guide of the host, I was surprised that we were far from the last)) The transfer was expected for about 20-30 minutes and then went to the hotel.
We flew the tour with the TRP (Compass) operator, in Russia it is called Biblio Globus.
I really liked that they didn’t take us through all of Pattaya, but they seated tourists in minivans and took us to the South, the rest to the center and north.
CHECK-IN: we arrived at the hotel after 14:00, so they settled us within 10 minutes, the staff is very polite, there are Russian-speaking representatives of the hotel. We booked a superior room, but on arrival we upgraded for free and settled in a villa.
ROOM: the villa is essentially an ordinary standard room, a little larger in size and the bathroom has both a shower and a bath.
The room itself is clean, it is clear that the renovation was not done yesterday, but at the same time everything is absolutely well-groomed, beautiful, tidy and there is nothing to complain about. There were 4 towels for each (one beach, bath, foot and face), they were changed on demand, bathrobes, all necessary toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, soap, toothbrush and ear sticks) were also replenished, every day 0.5 liters were brought to the room. water per person. The room has a TV with two or three Russian channels, Wi-fi catches in the rooms, but the speed is much better across the territory. All plumbing in good condition, shone as if bought yesterday. Bed linen is always clean, mattresses and pillows are very comfortable, slept like babies.
TERRITORY. I was left crazy about the unrealistically green territory - this is a real tropical oasis. And villas, and bungalows, and the building itself is simply buried in luxurious perennial greenery.
The staff from the very early morning is always doing something on the territory, it is generally impossible to catch Thais without business.
The hotel has 2 swimming pools, one near the sea, the other - in front of the reception and the main building. A HUGE PLUS of this hotel is round-the-clock pools. Until 2 - 3 nights, you could safely swim, and no one would drive away or make a remark. The only thing is that around 3 in the morning the staff starts cleaning the pools and of course, swimming is not entirely comfortable?
The gym is open from 6 am, but of course there are few simulators, and they are quite noticeably outdated, but again, everything is very clean, well-groomed, there are showers, and everything is in working order.
BEACH. Hotel on the first line, ie. the beach immediately begins from the hotel territory, it is small, there are not too many umbrellas and sunbeds, of course, you had to leave a towel in the morning so that after breakfast you could come and sunbathe, but even at lunch you could find an empty sunbed. The beach also did not close after sunset, but in the evening there are strong low tides, at night you can walk to the buoys and get your feet wet only knee-deep. The water itself in the Gulf of Thailand is basically clean in the morning, but then it becomes cloudy due to the sandy bottom. The sea itself in Pattaya resembles that of Azov, of course, Pattaya cannot be compared with the islands, there is no clear water and a snow-white beach here, but you can swim, am I satisfied? Moreover, the beach itself was constantly cleaned by staff.
Also on site, near the beach, there are girls who do a chic Thai massage. This is just heavenly pleasure, on the first day after the flight - it was our healing salvation, there was not a trace of fatigue left.
NUTRITION. The hotel is based on breakfast, but I ate them until the evening. Of course, on the 7-8th day, I understood that, in principle, the food was monotonous, but I could always choose what to eat. There were always sausage, two types of sausages, bacon, chicken stew (with or without vegetables), beef, vegetables, rice, pasta, sometimes potatoes, soups (one or two) every other day for breakfast, vegetables and fruits in abundance, sweets, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, toast, French waffles, diet food (manty, steamed meat and vegetables), coffee machine, tea, drinks only looked like juice, but in fact it was Yuppie)) but still drinkable - it was possible. Finding something to eat that you love is not difficult at all.
To be honest, if I go to Pattaya again, I will definitely choose this hotel.
Thanks to the hotel staff for making the stay of their guests unforgettable and comfortable.
This summer we visited our beloved Pattaya. We have been there more than once, always staying in the northern part of the city, from there it is easier to get to the center. But this year we decided to take a break from people and therefore stayed in a small hotel Botany Beach. Very cozy, clean hotel, with its own beach, quiet and friendly staff, very green area. The rooms are bright, spacious, correspond to their description and cost. There are not many people, but we came in the summer so this was to be expected.
There is not much infrastructure near the hotel, you need to walk or ride a tuk tuk to the nearest large hotel Ambassador, there is everything around it. And markets with food, exchangers, shops, an agency with excursions, pharmacies.
You can eat at the markets, it is relatively not expensive, although of course they are not friendly with sanitation.
Many tours can be purchased from tour agencies. We personally bought in Syuda Ture. We were satisfied with both the price and the quality.
Money, only big dollars are better than me, they have a higher exchange rate than small ones. And if you are looking for a more profitable rate, then it is better to exchange in yellow exchangers.
Getting to the center with two transfers is long and dreary, so this hotel is for those who want peace and quiet.
The hotel area is designed for your comfort and relaxation.
I liked the quality of the breakfast.
For a relaxing, family, beach holiday. Calm and quiet .
Clean, comfortable. STAFF is friendly.
The breakfast menu is rich and varied, enough for everyone. I recommend it to anyone who loves silence.
I will visit it again.
To the party, then to the Ambassador.
One minus and it spoiled my mood. This is a massage.
Complete unsanitary conditions, masseuses do not wash their hands at all, and Thai massage is a complete parody, vaguely reminiscent of Thai massage. If you don't want to hurt your back or if you have back problems, don't risk it. Look for salons near Ambasodaoa where there are toilets and an administrator sits at the entrance. This is the only negative of this hotel.
Our expectations were justified. But like everything else, it has its pros and cons. We are not the first time in Pattaya, but have already rested in Pattaya Park, so there is something to compare with.
Of the main disadvantages: the furniture in the room is very old, and also not a good location. And the point is not even that the hotel is located in the extreme south, but that at the exit from the hotel there is a busy Sukhumviroad highway, which is difficult to cross and the nearest infrastructure is right next to the Ambassador. The hotel tries to smooth these corners and provides a paid shuttle to the center for 60 baht per person and an electric car until 7/11. In any case, the location is more than a minus. The whole party in the evening opposite the Ambassador Hotel (there are good cafes, massages and fruit shops), near Botani it’s quiet and there’s nothing to do, and in Tai at 18:00 it’s already dark and you have to go somewhere otherwise you’ll get bored.
You can get to the city by shuttle from the hotel, by tuk-tuk in taxi mode, by tuk-tuk along the route, but with 2 transfers (but 20 baht on the highway and 10 in the city).
Of all the categories of rooms, we decided to focus on the classics of the genre - the cheapest standard rooms in the main building. We did not take a villa or a bungalow, they are much more expensive.
The room we had was average in size, despite the slightly shabby furniture, it was quite comfortable and very well equipped. Each room has a balcony, while the villas and bungalows have terraces. Bungalows are located by the sea, villas in the interior. I didn’t like the bungalows outwardly and are dark inside, but the villas are much more solid as an option for companies to note.
The territory is quite large and beautiful (you will meet small lizards, butterflies, chipmunks, squirrels, birds in living creatures of geckos, fish swim in improvised ponds), the pools are chic (there are good sunbeds and umbrellas around), and most importantly, they are not kicked out of the pool even at night (I wonder when do they clean it? ). But this is more of a plus, because after excursions or returning from the city it was cool to take a dip.
I won’t talk about excursions, there are a lot of them, and you can’t go around twice. We ordered (relying on the reviews) from the Nika Travel company (I ordered a price list on their website, they sent me, answered all the questions, clearly and clearly, we already planned something for our small budget, already in Pattaya we met with a guide, issued vouchers and traveled), did not make a mistake in their choice - quality and attentive service. Many succumbed to divorce (as, indeed, we did for the first time) and took tours from a tour operator, then people were upset that they overpaid for excursions by 1.5 or even 2 times, but in fact everything is the same. Then it is impossible to refuse excursions from the tour operator.
About the sea - here in Pattaya the beach is more aesthetic. And it is the same everywhere, in the center, near the hotel. Do not believe those who say that it is better in the south. Also, the tides wash the garbage ashore, this is the misfortune of the whole of Pattaya (it's a pity that the Thais do not value their natural resources). Therefore, to swim as a budget option to go to the Military Beach or Satthip. Koh Lan is far away (we went there when we were relaxing in Pattaya Park). Beautiful islands will come out more expensive, but on the islands both the coral sand and the sea are cleaner (I advise you to escape for sure). From the shore of the hotel offers beautiful views of Pattaya and the port of Marina Ocean.
In any case, our stay was great. Do not believe the bad reviews and do not forget that this is still three stars, but for the Pattaya troika it is very cool.
The main advantages of the hotel:
1) Large beautiful area. Lots of tropical flora (corresponds to the name). From the fauna - nimble gray squirrels, various birds, small lizards are constantly available. Occasionally you can see monkeys and fairly large lizards. All fauna is harmless and cowardly. There are cute fish in the ponds.
2) Quite high-quality and quite varied breakfasts. Except for breakfast, there is no point in eating at the hotel, IMHO.
3) On the territory of 2 swimming pools, where you can swim around the clock, which is important.
4) Fairly clean (for Pattaya) beach.
Nearby is a local hotel monster of monstrous proportions - the Ambassador. Main cons:
1) Far from the center of Pattaya.
2) Most of the rooms have not been renovated for a long time (not critical, but noticeable).
3) Inconvenient road crossing (Sukhumvit Highway).
Now some practical advice for those who decide to go to Botany:
Which rooms to choose in Botany.
Price ascending:
1) Regular room in a three-story building. There is a balcony and a small bathroom. The buildings are located in the middle of the territory (between the road and the sea). The cheapest option.
2) Bungalow. This is a small house with 2 rooms. They share a common staircase. At the top, it is divided into 2 separate terraces. The terrace is larger than the balcony in a regular room in the building. They are closest to the sea near the large pool. The plus is that it is a separate house, the neighbors are at most alone (or maybe not).
3) Thai villa. Also a house for 2 rooms, but more than a bungalow. Large bathroom (shower, bath, toilet) in which palm trees grow! The stairs are separate, you won’t even cross with your neighbors there. The terrace is the largest.
The decoration of the room is better than the previous ones. Located around a small pool, closer to the road. Maximum greenery.
4) Balinese villa. It looks like 2 combined Thai villas, but with a common hall. You go in it, then you scatter on numbers. It is convenient if you eat in a large company and can capture such a villa as a whole. Located closest to the road.
We lived in a Thai villa. There it is important not to forget to completely close the door to the bathroom at night. For the noise from the street and from the neighbors, and a mosquito attack is possible. Everything is acceptable with the door closed.
How to get to the Ambassador and adjacent markets and other things.
There are 2 ways: along the road and along the beach. It is better to walk along the beach, and a serious hike for goodies, a foray into shops or cafes - along the way.
Along the beach - the direction against the pier. Along the way there will be a small market (expensive), a massage parlor and cafes. Everything is of a crumbling type directly on the beach.
On the hotel path, go up to the highway.
It runs parallel to the coast along the whole of Pattaya. Standing with your back to Botany, turn left and go to the crossing. Along the way, you will meet a shop 7-11 (important, because often you don’t need to go further). The main building of the Ambassador is a huge orange building. Illuminated at night.
Where to change currency.
It is better to carry the currency itself in dollars in hundred bills. The first $100 can be exchanged at the stop on the way to the hotel (most transfers stop at this place). We need to find a Thai holding an announcement about the exchange. The course will be average. With exchanged money you can buy any small things at the bus stop. After arriving at the hotel, you can change at check-in (the exchange rate is the worst). You can walk to the Ambassador, there are several exchangers near the road, find the best rate, but it will be average here. The most decent course can be found in the city. We changed at the money changer on our way to the night market across from Lotus (see below).
It is important that not the exchanger at the entrance to the market (there is a terrible exchange rate), but somewhere halfway from the road. The course there was consistently good.
How to get to the night market.
The night market, IMHO, is a must visit : ) It's just interesting to get into the spirit of Asia. You can buy local clothes, try exotic dishes.
The nearest decent market is opposite the Lotus supermarket. Works from Friday to Sunday. Catch a white Tuk-tuk and drive 15 minutes along the road to the left of Botany until you see the Lotus sign. It's hard to miss, but check out that the next one will be an even bigger Big-C supermarket sign. Perpendicular to the road there will be a street leading to the sea. Walk along it for about 5 minutes, you get to the market. Along the way, there will be a useful wholesale shop for Thai medicines, cosmetics, teas, etc. It is convenient to buy for gifts.
How to get to the city center (Walking street, etc. ).
Catch a white tuk tuk on the road in front of the hotel and go to the Big-C supermarket sign.
At Big-C go outside perpendicular to the main road towards the sea. Catch a blue fat there and pass 2 traffic lights (yellow Buddha landmark). You are in the center. Walking Street - on the left, if you stand facing the sea.
How to drive around the city.
According to the schedule, a minibus runs from the hotel to the center and back, it costs 60 baht.
A regular taxi costs 200-500 baht, depending on how you agree, time and distance.
Who loves taxis, it is better to download the uber application, then you will fit 200-300 baht.
There are motorcycle taxis. They cost less than cars, but this is the most extreme, taking into account local non-compliance with traffic rules. Plus, sitting behind the driver is not the most pleasant, IMHO.
IMHO, the best transport is tuk-tuk. An analogue of our open minibus. It is the most inexpensive, frequent and exotic. Tuk vary in color depending on the street they drive on.
A white tuk walks along the main street of Sukhumvit and costs 20 baht.
Blue ride on perpendicular Sukhumvit, cost 10 baht.
Other colors were not used. Riding on the bandwagon is an unforgettable experience : )
Sometimes (especially in the evening) tuk taxis disguise themselves as route tuks. You can't tell them apart by sight. But it's easy to spot; Such a "werewolf" will be empty and instead of driving along the route, it will persistently ask you where to go. Calmly sit down and wait for him to go along the route. If he doesn’t go, but tries to find out where to go, get out and wait for the next one.
Where to eat.
In Pattaya, this is not a problem. I will describe the situation around the hotel;
In Botany itself there is a bar next to the pool, a couple of restaurants. Everything is expensive and not very tasty. During the day, shrimp are brought to the beach, quite decent and inexpensive. On the street nearby, food can be taken from the 7-11 store and from merchants next to it. Especially noteworthy are the delicious local pancakes with banana. This is the closest zone.
The middle zone along the beach is cafes on the way to Ambassador. The prices are average and so is the taste. But - a view of the sea.
If you go to the Ambassador along the road and cross the passage opposite him, then there will be a small market and a "glutton row". The market prices for fruits are very good. And the "glutton row" is a small lane with cafes. The choice is large, the prices are average, the taste is also average, IMHO. All these cafes are too Russified, there is little color.
We found a decent cafe there, a little off to the side. Go along the obzhonom row, there will be a small branch to the right. There is a Thai cafe at the end. The taste of the dishes is amazing, especially compared to the average in the series. Prices are surprisingly lower. Apparently, most tourists do not reach there. In general, in order to understand where it tastes better, it is better to look at where local Thais go to eat. For lovers of the exotic and a large selection, it makes sense to taste dishes at the night market.
The main danger of Thai food is pepper.
As well as a view of the sea, lying under the palm trees.
2) Massage parlor on the beach on the way to Ambassador. There are no pajamas and normal couches, as in a hotel. But the quality is slightly higher (the ladies work for themselves), and the prices are lower, 200 baht. There is also a sea view.
3) Normal massage in the salon. There are 2 lounges right in front of the hotel, across the road. But it is dangerous to cross there, there is no transition and the quality is not impressive. It is much better to walk to the transition, go, there will also be 2 good salons right next to it. Personally, I liked the neighbor more. The quality is maximum, all the props are there, Thai massage costs 200 baht. But there is no landscape view and you need to walk a bit.
Everyone decides for himself what is more important to him. But in any case, it is better to find a personal master and give tips consistently, then there will be happiness; )
What to take (not to take) excursions.
1) Do not take anything from what the tour operator imposes.
The quality is ordinary, the most average, and the prices are one and a half to two times higher, even taking into account the discount from the cape. Full of tour desks in Pattaya (nearest at 7-11). And we ourselves ordered on the Internet.
2) The choice is a matter of taste, everyone chooses for himself. But the general principle is to avoid any promotional trips (shops, latex factory, pharmacies, etc. ) This is a waste of time and mood.
3) From specific recommendations - be sure to take a trip to Kwai (preferably with a visit to the waterfall). IMHO, the best tour ever. But for 2 days! The price in a decent bureau is about 2000 baht. Another of these heavy saturated ones is a trip to Cambodia (they didn’t go themselves, but many praised).
Next to Botany is Nong Nooch Garden, close and interesting. Mimosa transvestite show right at the crossing. Once you can go to a similar "exotic". There are other similar shows, but why go somewhere, waste time, if this is almost opposite the hotel.
For lovers of a good beach, it is better to take trips to the islands, or a more budget option - remote beaches on the coast ("Military", etc. )
