2 times went to Tai, did not hear that anyone was poisoned. And in order not to risk, then do not take food from street vendors. On average, it takes 200-250 baht per person (without chic). We ate like this until we discovered a small cafe behind the fence, where we ate from the belly for 150 baht. Rested Sunshine garden near the dolphins. And that cafe next to the alley. The contingent is mostly ours and Germans. I recommend both the hotel and the cafe.

There are a lot of cafes, we chose those in which you order fish, meat, and salads, side dishes were, as it were, in addition (buffet). You can also eat in large supermarkets.
There were also fruits and sweets in addition to your order for the main course.

I would like to hear more specifically about the places near the Ambassador, because this topic also worries me very much. We stayed at the nearby Botany Hotel. We went to a cafe on the seashore, to the Ambassador, along the street - there are also many establishments along the road. But it was very difficult to find a dinner for less than 200 baht, so that at the same time drink and somehow eat. We went hungry all the time. because we didn’t eat enough rice and soup (although we went with a girlfriend, two skinny girls). In supermarkets or sky-high prices (In the Festival), or if it's cheap, rice with chicken. Horror. And the Prussians run around the tables. This is for example in the Lotus on the 2nd floor. We ate there once ... didn't feel like it anymore. So I will also be grateful for the feedback, because. I will definitely visit Botany again.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm interested in cafes in the Ambassador area. Who went there? Where did you eat so that it was not expensive and relatively satisfying?

In Ammbassador, they ate on the beach - on the left, on the road to Dor Shada, fried catfish for 100 baht, well, a bottle of beer for 35 baht, in the evening there is a gluttonous row, but there is a small selection and the same catfish - 280 baht, in cafes on the street - Smak and the Bear didn’t go, I don’t know how in the evening, but they rarely ate during the day - either there were excursions, or they took corn or fruits at the market, in the evening there was a glutton row or on the beach, I don’t know - why are you bothering, you need to go there to relax, and not overeat, eat more fruit, at home there will definitely not be such fresh ones and at such prices. Sometimes they went to Lotus - they ate sushi for 10 rubles apiece, which is quite good. Think about rest, not about food, especially think - there are 5000 rooms in the Ambassador, do you really think - they all go hungry and the administration does not think about how to feed them and make money on it?

Thanks for answers. And for the advice! Another question - I read in the reviews - some advise taking a boiler with you. Like, with boiled water in the rooms tension. Is that really true? As in the hotels of the era of the USSR?
аватар oresta52
The way it is. Do you only have breakfast at the hotel? And then you yourself are looking for where to feed yourself. And in the evening already in the room you wanted tea. You will not run to look for him on the street.
It's easier to take your favorite drink and a kettle with you.
Buy a bottle of water and you will not depend on anyone.
Thailand is not Europe in the tourism business, it still has a long way to go, so don't be surprised. Read the reviews of tourists, there is a lot of useful practice.

OK. thanks again

Nonsense, ask for a kettle and they will bring it to you.

As for the Ambassador Hotel, it really is far from the center. you won’t have much choice, you will have to eat either in expensive cafes or take it on the street - in macaroons - the food is normal, I haven’t eaten much, I’ve never been poisoned, and it tastes edible, just don’t overdo it with spices, otherwise they have everything very spicy, and the fish is cool - fried sea bass, and of course shrimp.

"Nonsense, ask for a kettle and they will bring it to you."
Did you ask, did they bring you? for the whole ride? or when you want boiled water?
Don't tell me, everyone there is doing their own thing, and if there are no kettles in the room, then they are not there.
In our hotel for 2 weeks there was a tray with dirty dishes near the elevator (someone had breakfast in the room).
So, the floors were washed, but the tray was rearranged, and continued to be there. It turns out that the restaurant worker was supposed to pick it up.
Why am I leading that there are no restaurant workers after breakfast, who will give you a kettle?

In general, it is clear that nothing is clear .... As I said, there is nothing to eat there. So that the child is not hungry, I will advise you what we did in the end. We bought sausage, cold cuts, buns for it, yogurts (!!! FINALLY !!!) in stores - I can’t live without dairy, I think that the child will also want curds and sausages. It was always in our room. Because after any cafe we returned to the room still hungry. Also take with you what the child loves-cookies, sweets. It'll come in handy too. We do not like this, but our relatives put it on us. For which many thanks to them!

In the 4-star building - in the 17-storey Ocean Wing building - the room has a refrigerator, a kettle and dishes, and coffee and tea bags are served every day.

curious, did STATELY mix up anything? in TAE-DAIRY? CUTTERS? Gentlemen, there is NO MILK in TAE! IN PRINCIPLE! ONLY SOY! The body of a Thai is not able to digest cow's milk - times. and did you see cows in TAE? We saw - they remind us of the "Auschwitz cubs" -two! Milk from them -?! The Ambassador is really far from "life". we lived in Jomtien, in the center, there are really few cafes in the direction of the Ambassador. Tip: in the evening, for a walk, go to Lottus or BigCi (find out, I don’t remember which is a large cafe with interesting self-service), where you take products from which you can easily prepare a late dinner. the sausage is not edible. buy freshly cooked chicken or pork in a container (they took it from macaques - they never got poisoned) and vegetables. make your own salad. delicious, tasty, cheap. take fried fish, especially catfish on Jomtien - delicious! and most importantly, fresh! There is a refrigerator in any room, the day will not deteriorate. during the day I just want to drink and fruit. fruit is also better to take in the evening. especially around Mike. a fruit stand arrives at Jomtien in the evening, it's cheaper there, but you need to guard it. Recently there has been a lot of European cuisine, you will always find something to feed your child in any cafe. fish, potatoes, chicken - everywhere.

It's amazing to hear that in Thailand someone was left hungry, especially in Pattaya, where there are various eateries, restaurants and an abundance of shopping centers and small shops everywhere. Apparently there is a category of tourists who will remain hungry even while sitting at a laid table. In the central festival on the 5th floor there is an excellent Japanese restaurant Fuji where you can eat good Japanese cuisine for $ 10 from the belly. So write down the hungry gentlemen. )))))))))))))
аватар NATALYA_MARIA
Oh. Speaking of dollars... is there a need to keep them in cash? Or should everything be changed to baht? What is the best way to pay?
аватар STATELY
Well, not everyone likes Japanese cuisine, yes, I am hungry for rice and chicken. I need a normal first, cutlets, cabbage rolls, shish kebabs, dumplings, mashed potatoes, and, of course, dessert. There are no desserts in Thailand. I'm used to the variety of food in Turkey, Egypt and Europe. So I write as it is. I am glad that at least someone is satisfied and full while relaxing in Thailand. And the yoghurts and sausages were very tasty for us. After a week of eating in eateries and Lotus.

Ate in "Big C", there is something like an inexpensive canteen, 40-60 baht per dish.
We bought food in supermarkets, the same chicken, shrimp, fish, shells ... Everything is fresh and tasty, there are rolls and some vegetables + alcohol, the price is not prohibitive, and you can always have a bite to eat in the evening.

Go to a country where you can eat inexpensive fresh (not frozen) seafood, crabs, shrimp, lobsters, fish, an abundance of fruits such as mangoes, pineapples, watermelons, melons and much more and dream of sausage and yogurt?! This is beyond my understanding. Why then go so far? Although for lovers of Russian cuisine there are plenty of restaurants for ours and an abundance of food in supermarkets. I bought more than I could eat. Delicious pastries, delicious drinks. In general, one who sees only chicken and rice is apparently blind.

Specifically, the Ambassador. I was with my wife in December 2010 at Ocean Wing. The room has a small refrigerator, kettle, TV (1 channel in Russian), air conditioning, hair dryer. Every day tea, coffee in bags, clean bottled water (1 liter / day per person). Breakfast for every taste. Hours to 16 to eat no longer pulls! It has its own market where the wife bought various fruits. The hotel itself has a shop where you can buy groceries and basic necessities. There is an ATM where you can change money. In the evening, if at the hotel, you could eat either private cafes on the beach on the right (everything is very tasty), or a "Beer Festival" was held in front of the hotel (if you can't compare shish kebab with ours, everything is also very tasty). I'm not saying that there are several bars and restaurants on the territory (prices are reasonable). You can also buy ice cream, but it is not made from milk, but from some kind of cream. Wife really liked it. If there is anything else you are interested in, please ask.

NATALYA_MARIA dollars can always be changed (preferably farther from the hotel) we, if we didn’t shop, changed 100, it was enough for 1-2 days.
