1Location: leaving the hotel you immediately get to Naklua Street, raise your paw and take a tuk tuk to Volkin Street in a few minutes. back even at two in the morning, but this requires patience and a small promenade towards the hotel along the second street : ) In extreme cases, we didn’t pay more than 100 baht for a motor from Volkin at night.
2 There was no view from the window, then one friend posted a photo on the neighbor's windows, but I think it's how lucky we were that it didn't soar.
3 The pool is small, on the roof, but quite a calm and cozy place. It works from 8 to 20 and used it in the morning, when it was too lazy to go to the islands, but it was before closing, after a hard excursion it is very refreshing and relaxing. What I was pleased with, it is clean and if there are chemicals, then at a minimum, in the Ambassador, after the first swim, my eyes hurt; here, I swam all the way with open and normal.
4 On some beach there is a free transfer twice a day from the hotel (an ad is hanging), but we did not use it, we preferred Kolan Island.
5 Breakfasts, in our opinion, are quite decent, a couple of types of rice, meat with some kind of grass, sausages, scrambled eggs, greens. Chicken soup. At first they gained a lot and went for an additive, then they calmed down and ate as much as the body needs.
6 The staff is friendly, smiling. They cleaned the room every day, I don’t know how the sheets are, but the towels are always new, the linen was also changed, I won’t say how often, we just didn’t keep track : )) We left a tip of 20 baht (ourselves)
7 I don’t want to eat a dime a dozen cafes on the street. At the entrance to the hotel in the evenings, a small open-air canteen is organized a couple of times, and there, inexpensive and tasty and all the little things you need, tea, sugar (there is a kettle in the room. )
8 The peculiarity of the hotel is that apart from the rooms there are no air conditioners anywhere, I left the room and Tashkent, immediately a little unusual.
9 We went with Pegasus, the hotel guide was Alena, the person is very cunning and quite deceitful. By coincidence, she was our guide on a sightseeing tour on the last trip. She speaks beautifully, a lot, convincingly. . Starting from the direction of movement of tuk tuks, ending with the presence of duty free at U-topao airport. It gnaws out your loot by any means. There is no big difference, there are a lot of travel agencies (I only brought 6 pieces of Russian-language prices to a friend of those that I paid attention to during walks), prices can vary slightly, just if you visited several, you can choose a date that fits to your vacation.
Swimming pool. Swimming pool on the roof of the hotel with a "Jacuzzi" (bubbles under water under pressure) and a fenced children's section. Bar next to the pool with tables - you can have a bite to eat. The swimming pool is open from 08:00 to 20:00. It's fun to swim when it's sunset and getting dark - from 17:30. Only closer to 18:00 already the water in the pool seems cool. View from the roof of the city from all angles - from all 4 sides of the hotel.
Rooms. We lived in a deluxe room, together, on the 3rd floor. The rooms are clean, cleaned every day. Ants (like everywhere in Thailand) only appear if you leave food somewhere other than the refrigerator. So keep all products (fruits, nuts, seeds, etc. ) only in the refrigerator.
The only negative (at first it seemed very significant, then they got used to it) was that the room overlooked some kind of transformer mast, from which both windows in the room were closed with an iron “curtain” so that from one window there was only air from the street (on the side of the structure in a gap half a meter wide and a height of the entire window) and zero daylight, and from the other the light was 25% of the entire window. So the electric light was almost always on in the room. The bed was weird. First, on wheels. Secondly, one bed for two turned out to be, on closer examination, consisting of two beds connected to each other. But what's good - when we wanted to change the room because of the view from the window, we were offered a room with a good view, but with 2 different beds: one was single, and the second double, but 1.5-2 times narrower than ours. In general, we left the same number. They said that they could not offer us the numbers of others - they simply do not exist.
Yes, more. There are no balconies in standard and deluxe rooms at all. Although in other rooms (when viewed from the street) we did not find balconies. Other rooms can go directly to the wall of another building - the distance from windows to windows is 1.5-2.0 meters.
Nutrition. The restaurant is located on the first floor. The breakfasts are good and varied. Simple rice, rice with vegetables, stewed vegetables, rice noodles with vegetables (a delicious thing), scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, toast, raw chopped vegetables + 3 types of sauces, 3-5 types of juices, milk, tea, coffee, croissants + butter + toast + confiture, fruits (pineapple, watermelon, local fruits). Tables for 2-3-4 people. At the open window it was especially good to have breakfast - the beauty and air of the morning Thai.
Staff. I don't know who wrote about the Russian-speaking staff. In addition to the words "Hello! Till! Thank you! » they no longer know Russian words.
Maybe this is called “knowledge of the Russian language”, although now all Thais know these Russian words by heart, well, plus words like “Give! Look! Well! Inexpensive! ".
There are tuk tuks near the hotel. Absolutely everyone goes towards Walking Street. Only one thing: during the day everyone goes through the ring with the Dolphin fountain and straight along the embankment. In the evening, near the Dolphin, they turn left, then turn around and drive as usual along the embankment. The fare to the center costs 10 baht per person. On the usual route, they reach Walking Street and go in the opposite direction. The only strange pattern they have. If there are Thai passengers in the cabin, then they go strictly along the route. If there are only tourists in the cabin, they can turn on any street and traffic light, turn around and go in the opposite direction.
You can have lunch and dinner in the hotel itself, next to the hotel (cafe), and in the center (or wherever you like).
For price comparison: dinner at the hotel - about 500 baht per person. Dine in the center, on Walking Street, in the shopping center - about 500 baht per person. Dine in a cafe near the hotel - 150-200 baht per person. (get out of the hotel and to the right, after 100 meters there will be a cafe, the first on your way, seemingly simple - but they cook ....Mmm ...I advise you to try their Phat Thai Noodle dish - awesome! ).
Purchases. The cheapest purchases in the markets. We were at 2. First. Weekend Market (Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 19:00 to 22:00) on Sukhumvit Road, next to Outlet Mall and Tesco Lotus Hypermarkets. Second. The "Made in Thailand" market is located right behind the Central Festival shopping center, on the street next to the coast. In shopping centers, prices are the same as in boutique stores in Russia, but the quality is excellent. If in Russia in branded stores they sell fakes at the price of original things, then in Thailand the original thing costs as the original, and the fake costs as a fake, i. e.
10 times (at least) cheaper.
General about Thailand in 2010. Rested in Thailand 3rd time, each time in Pattaya. Was in 2003.2009 and 2010. To be honest, Thailand has changed a lot since 2003. Someone will say that it is for the better, someone will say that it is for the worse ...2003: Thais always smile at you, even if they don’t need anything from you; always greet in their own and English languages; very friendly nation; there is never even a hint of deceit. 2010: Thais smile at you only if they need something from you, or you smile at them first; they are already trying to deceive you somehow; stick like Velcro on the beaches "look-buy-give. " There were a lot of Russian-speaking tourists. A lot of Russians (I'm not saying that all - but the majority) are simply disgusting with Thais. Like "I'm a king, I pay money here, kiss and lick my hands and feet. " Therefore, a “special” attitude began to take shape towards Russian tourists. As in Egypt and Turkey.
Sometimes boorish, sometimes indifferent, sometimes mocking. Another 5 years, and Thailand will turn into Egypt in relation to the Russians. Sadly.
