We are flying to the US with a US visa. Transfer in PARIS = 5 hours. Do I still need to do SCHENGEN for a walk around PARIS or at the airport it will be possible to buy a transit visa. Or will I have to sit at the Paris airport for 5 hours

If you are going to fly from a third country to a third country and air traffic involves landing at an airport located in the Schengen area, and also: you are not going to leave the international transit zone of the airport, you must obtain an airport transit visa A.
