Help me to understand.
Friends! Help me to understand! We want to travel around Europe with my husband, but we don’t know anything .. We found a bus tour (it’s cheaper for us), there are many countries, 15 days, 900 euros. for one. Only breakfasts, and full of surcharges ... And how much for food ... And maybe it's too physically hard to wander around the cities like that .. Oh, we don't know how to decide on this, it's a little scary. Give advice!!! Thank you!

Going on a 15-day bus tour of Europe is a "feat", one must have iron health. Imagine that your main pastime will be sitting on a bus, and not always with nice people.
The whole day on the road, a tour (often running) around the city, a dream in a hotel, a little light - again on the bus and forward.
It is very difficult to travel and learn new things in such a big company - everyone has their own interests and attachments, their own habits: you will all be brought to the canteens "lured" by guides (you can't say otherwise), and souvenir shops; there will definitely be latecomers, which will reduce the time on the excursion, the escorts will "drive" you, because. For some reason, they always fail. Do you need such a rest?
As for food - a standard dinner for two in Europe costs 30-60 euros. Cheaper in Germany, more expensive in France.
By the way, accompanying people like to collect money for entrance tickets to museums, castles, moreover, they take the amount indicated at the box office, not paying the attention of tourists to the fact that groups are entitled to a discount, etc.
We prefer to travel with my husband on our own: both cheaper and better.

Thank you for your answer. But my husband and I don’t know languages. You almost convinced me. But I’m afraid that we will be blind kittens ... Can you tell us how best to book a trip for two and most importantly which country to start from so that we don’t refuse in Schengen. Thanks a lot!

If you want to join this tour - decide quickly. There are few places left. We booked seats on the bus back in January, and then we were already in the middle of the bus.
We were on the European Fireworks Bus Tour in March 2009. The tour is really tiring, but the matter was further aggravated by constant daily rains :-( The rains were just exhausting. Yes, and we were not very prepared. We took headrests and a blanket, but we didn’t take a thermos or medicines .. When we arrived, I thought that I would never do it again :-) But then the fatigue passed and there was a bunch, a sea of impressions. I do not like to walk in a team, but now I remember this trip with warmth. Here we are again. Now it will be easier for us - it will be warm, it will be hot in Italy in general, there will be rains, but short-term, spring ones. We made a program for Paris and Rome, what we will do, where we will go.
We will be in Paris from 30 to 3, and on May 1 everything is closed, but there is an excursion to Versailles, we were there, but in March, in May - well, it’s a completely different matter :-) In general, we are almost THERE :-) we are already counting days..

As I understand you!!!!! When my husband and I were going to Europe for the first time, the problem of languages seemed to be the most acute. I can reassure you: this is not a problem that is worth worrying about. Europeans, as a rule, are correct and polite, they can communicate in several languages. And then if two people want to understand each other - they will understand, but they don’t want to, then even if you speak the same language you won’t understand. Take it into service: sign language, symbols, something you can draw, write (time for example). Show something on the map. Print all vouchers, addresses and hotel names in advance. It's easier. And to say: help mi pliz, it's not difficult ...

For starters, I would recommend you to go on a bus tour, which is compiled according to the following principle: to the border - by train, then a bus excursion for 3-4 days, a vacation at the sea or lake for 4-6 days, returning home - another 2-3 days of excursion. Firstly, do not get tired, secondly, you will understand whether this vacation is yours or not, and thirdly, during a holiday at the sea (lake, mountains), half board (breakfast + dinner) is usually offered for meals. Because bus tours are definitely not for everyone. If you look in detail, these are, for example, tours with holidays in Spain from Inkomartura (Kyiv), in Croatia from the Accord-tour (Lviv). Don’t worry too much about not knowing languages, usually guides lead you to cafes, shops, etc. practically by the hand. Yes, you won’t have much time to walk somewhere on your own. Another tip - do not try to go on all the proposed excursions at once (especially additional ones), take care of your health.
For the first trip to Europe, if there are no Schengen in the passport, it is better to choose tours on simpler visas: Hungarian, Czech. Fewer documents, more guarantee that they will open. Successful development of Europe!!!!

I agree with Inna. I also love these tours. Rome-Paris is just like that. Train to the border, there is a bus. Holidays in Paris, Cote d'Azur and Rome. The only thing I disagree with is the concept of nutrition. In Europe, breakfasts are more than sufficient, and changing the pleasure of sitting in a restaurant in the evening for a buffet, which, by the way, is scarce in European hotels, is not the best idea.
Now almost all bus tours are designed for a bus or plane that takes you to the first point of departure. Three years ago we went by train to Warsaw, there was a bus.

I'm not saying that HB is good, but it's easier if you don't know the prices and for the first time in the country. It is interesting to go to restaurants when you can at least read the menu, which requires knowledge of the language (and I, for example, have not seen a menu in Russian anywhere) and there is an opportunity not to save money. And so ... To eat in a normal cafe, for example, in Hungary for two, at least 30 € and this is without alcohol. In Italy, one dish (pizza, salad, pasta) costs 8-15€ on average. I emphasize, in a cafe!!! It can be cheaper if you buy groceries in supermarkets or find places a la buffet (you pay a fixed amount and take what you want). I can’t tell you the prices, I didn’t go, but the guides always know such places and can help :))))

I will not argue. I don't see the point.
I can only say that you overestimated the prices, at least for Budapest. Haven't been to Italy yet.
Yes, the menu is often with photos of dishes :-)

I would also like to add, information may be useful, a list of the most famous tour operators in Ukraine for bus tours: Artex 94, Inkomartur, Delta Tour, Fairy Mandriv, Saga (Kyiv), Accord Tour (Lviv). There are others, but smaller ones. Each has its pros and cons (read on the forums). If you, Helpa, have already met them, then the first step has already been taken, if not with all of them, I recommend comparing and choosing the only correct option :)))))!

I, Viltis, am talking about establishments where people go to have a good time in a comfortable environment with pleasant service. "Ukrainian Bistro" and "Celentano Pizza" are also cafes, but I wrote about a different level. Of course, you can find nice places with lower prices.

If I offended you in any way, I apologize. I can recommend a whole street of decent restaurants in Budapest, with a dinner of 20 euros for two. It's in the city center. In Greece, Montenegro, Paris, Cologne, Amsterdam, Berlin, there are also decent restaurants, inexpensive. I can give you their coordinates.

Thank you, if I go, I will take advantage of your offer, then I will write to you personally. I just meant that most likely there would be no opportunity to look for, they often bring to the hotel quite late, and there is also not much time between excursions. Therefore, the prices that I indicated are what you need to be prepared for if you want to have fun, without a long search (for Hungary, I wrote prices in cafes near our transit hotel at Lake Balaton, they were in August last year).
