Congratulations! I am planning my first vacation in Sicily, approximately May - June. Please tell me which city is not very expensive in the price category, with clean beaches not far away? When should I book an apartment?

I liked it in Trapani (although I was in both Catania and Palermo). In Trapani itself, the city beach is not bad, the best thing to do is swim after excursions (Eriche, Marsala, San Vito lo Capo..). The city is beautiful, there are places to take a walk in the evening. From Trapani you can easily get (by bus) to the famous and most beautiful beach of Sicily - San Vito lo Capo. Even better is to live in Trapani and take three nights in San Vito lo Capo (while there are still relatively inexpensive hotels there).
And I’ll also write that Taormina didn’t come to me. The town is beautiful, like a fashion boutique, but living in it is terrible. Trapani has more life.
I haven’t been to Palermo - Mondella yet, only in Palermo itself. The city of Palermo was not very pleasant due to dirt, paid cathedrals and less security. And so look at it - one day, beautiful, but extremely dirty and neglected.

I will add that in Acireale (a town near Catania) every February-March a famous carnival with a wonderful parade is held. I was in '23 for three days, had a great rest, very beautiful, I recommend it to everyone who has winter depression))
