hello to the pacific
Mexico is a country that is washed by two oceans and we definitely wanted to visit the Pacific coast. Unfortunately, it was not possible to get a sensible Map of Mexico. The one that was in the guidebook was like a map of the White Sea-Baltic Canal on a pack of famous cigarettes.
According to the plan, the next place to spend the night after Oaxaca on our trip was Teuntepetek. But how close it is to the ocean from the map did not follow. Therefore, we decided to go to Salina Cruz - a port city on the ocean. The road passed through the Mexican mountains and was very picturesque. Bridges over deep gorges and rocky peaks near the Pacific coast looked especially grandiose. The vegetation on the slopes of the mountains consisted of deciduous trees and tall bizarre cacti. Very often there were plots on which agave bushes grew in orderly rows, which are the raw material for obtaining tequila - Mexican vodka.
We arrived at the place already in the dark. The hotel was located near the train station. Placed. I ask the owner - where is the ocean? Answers - to the beach about 5 km. You need to take a taxi and it costs 30 pesos. Tomorrow we have an extensive program, it is necessary to leave in the morning. I suggest Lyudmila - let's go now. She is tired and doesn't want to. I decide to go myself.
I went outside and hailed a taxi. It is difficult to talk without knowing either the local language or the city. I ask you to take me to the beach in English. The driver asks - for which? I answer anyway, I want to swim. He says it's dangerous to swim now. The answer is, at least I'll wash my feet. Go. At first, the road went straight, then turned left and moved along a high fence for a long time. Apparently it was a seaport. Then the taxi driver stopped and said - this is a restaurant-beach. The answer is no, I need a natural beach, I want to swim. The taxi driver drove another 100 meters and says - here is the beach. And indeed, I see a large hole in the fence, and behind it a staircase leading down.
Paid the taxi driver 30 pesos. Went down to the sandy beach and heard the roar of the ocean. The ocean really looked menacing! Huge waves roared onto the shore, turning into a sea of foam thrown ashore. Not knowing the ford - it was really dangerous to climb into the water. He undressed, went knee-deep into the water, washed himself with Pacific water and thereby testified his respect to the largest geographical formation on Earth.
And then he returned to the bus station in the same way by taxi and found our hotel.
In the morning, next to the bus station, we climbed a small hill and saw a narrow strip of water on the horizon with ocean ships in the roadstead. It was the Pacific Ocean!
Our next excursion object was the picturesque Cann Semidero, located near the town of Tuxtla Gutierrez.
