How much time is enough for Malta?
In the second half of June, I would like to see Malta, but I just don’t know how many vacation days to take for it (Malta Island + Gozo Island). If a week is enough for both islands, will it be okay to go to Sicily for another 7-10 days? In general, any opinions/experiences are welcome.

It took me a week to see all the main attractions of Malta (1 day was spent on Gozo). The island is small, so even traveling by bus, you can get almost anywhere in an hour and a half. But we hardly spent time on the beach.
And the impressions were excellent, a really interesting place and there is something to see.

Thank you! Have you been to Sicily by any chance? How much time to spend on it? I also spend very little time on the beach, the maximum is an hour to lie idle.

Indeed, perhaps one day is enough in Gozo, but, in my opinion, you should definitely visit Ggantija - a megalithic temple, the oldest man-made building on the planet. And not the “grotto of the nymph Calypso”, which is sometimes taken during standard excursions from Malta. Or you can spend the whole day in Gozo, and another time to see what you didn’t have time to do, and in the afternoon go to Comino. Of course, there is no sensible beach there, and there are no sights at all, but the Blue Bay is remarkably beautiful, and it is easy to swim across it, hitting the rocky Cominotto, thus covering 4 of the 5 islands of Malta. To a tiny uninhabited island in the form of a hat with a wonderful name Filfla can also be viewed from the island of Malta. ))

Malta itself needs at least 5 days! This is the capital of Valletta, and the Three Cities (preferably on another day, so as not to confuse later what was where), and the shop Sliema, and the nightclub Puchville. The pensive old capital of Mdina with the City of Masters and (optionally) the puffy Mosta with one of the largest cathedral domes in the world. A boat trip along the numerous Maltese bays! And on boats there are excursions to very beautiful grottoes. A quiet walk in Bugibba can be combined with a trip to Mellieha Beach and, probably, to the village of the sailor Papaya. On Sundays - a fish market in Marsaxlokk, a tiny village with picturesque boats in the bay, and in the evening - certainly in one of the fiesta towns. There are also megaliths on the island of Malta, including the Hypogeum, for which you need to book an excursion online in advance.

I went to Sicily only from Malta for a day with an excursion. Taormina with an ancient theater and beautiful views (after Malta, the eye simply enjoys the greenery and the view of the mountains!), Severe Etna, a small port and resort Pozzallo. We have not been to Palermo or Syracuse. It seemed to me that the density of attractions in Sicily is much lower than in Malta (but the island is much larger!), although this is Italy dearly beloved by me, and here, it seems, every small town is charming and nice. However, in Sicily there is a serious “but”! According to our guide, public transport is very bad on the island. Stopping in one city and making radial trips from there on your own, as in Malta, will not work if you do not rent a car. I didn’t check this thesis myself, even on the Internet, I took my word for it.

88664422, thank you very much!

Yes, and in Malta public transport runs quite rarely. It is used only by students of language schools and some tourists, because the interval reaches 1 hour of waiting. Well, the main thing is to wait on the right side of the bus)) Remember that traffic in Malta is left-handed.
In Sicily was the same as 88664422 only one day on an excursion from Malta. I liked it very much. I would have put more time on it than on Malta. Although there are quite interesting sights in Malta, Sicily conquered with a riot of colors, cozy Italian fishing rods and, of course, Mount Etna. A tour is a must!

Thank you very much. I don’t want to take a car on such a small island at all, maybe a bicycle. Is it possible to ride a bike there?

I've never seen anyone on a bike, but maybe I didn't pay attention. As for me, everywhere in Malta there is rocky terrain and, probably, it is not very convenient for cycling. I traveled everywhere by bus, but you just have to be prepared for the fact that they go very rarely, and in the summer at bus stops there is a real hell. If you want to save your nerves and time - take a car. Otherwise, you will spend half your vacation at bus stops.

ollennka, I've been here for two days, I didn't look at everything, but a lot. Of course, it will be a thousand times more convenient with a car. In Malta, the reform of the new transport reform has now passed, the schedules at the stops do not correspond to the traffic schedules, although they will clearly be drawn before the summer) Transport goes well along the tourist trails. All the sights are very compact, a lot of time for sightseeing does not go.
Indeed, there are no cyclists - and the terrain is hilly, and the roads are narrow, and the drivers are reckless)))
If you have any questions, I'll help you as much as I can.
