It amazes me when Russians go abroad and want Russian to be known everywhere, and they are still indignant that they do not know Russian!

Yes, indeed, you have a strange question. What answer do you expect? Like: oh, yes, many Greeks speak Russian without any problems, so you won’t have any problems? there are few sellers and waiters) working there. But even the Greeks speak English not so hot! It is enough, in my opinion, to know how to say in English "give me please" "how much" "hello" and "goodbye". at least I tried to talk with the waiters at the hotel about whether they would serve me fried, stewed or baked meat - the waiter did not know these simple words in English at all! His entire vocabulary was limited to the four most common phrases, as well as numbers in English. he is not bad knew. So knowledge of English does not always help, for the reason that they themselves do not always know this language well. By the way, there are a lot of Russian-speaking staff (mostly from Russia) in Cyprus. But this is me, by the way.

Well, if you do not speak English, it will be more difficult. take the phrase book. English, and Greek will help. the main thing is not to be shy!

Do not worry, ordinary Greeks on the street (not sellers from shops) do not understand anything in English. There are many emigrants from Georgia in Greece, so they speak Russian perfectly, in any hotel there are such people in the staff, they will help.

I remembered, in duty-free on departure in Heraklion, the saleswoman tried to say something in Russian!

the islanders - benevolent people - completely agree, I don't know English either, but it didn't bother me at all. We rested in a hotel where there were 20 vacationers from the Russian-speaking people, no one spoke Russian from the hotel staff ... they explained with gestures, nothing, everyone understood everything :)
