If you are only interested in sea and beach holidays, then I don’t quite understand why you need to give up Egypt. In Crete, I didn’t particularly like the sea, I didn’t even swim almost, I just sunbathed. In Egypt, the sea is incomparable to anything.
And I’m going to Crete (I was last year and I’m going again in August) solely for the sake of night festivities (clubs are something there) and the possibility of almost unlimited travel around Europe. Yes, the nature there is amazing and interesting local cuisine.
But at the same time, I took the cheapest 2 * hotel, because personally I don’t care where my things are lying around, as long as I’m somewhere else. I don’t think, of course, that my opinion is the only true one, but if you need a good hotel and a good sea, then I don’t understand why you need Crete.

If we are talking really only about a beach holiday such as sea-bar-lounger-pool and nothing more, then it seems to me that there is no point in abandoning Turkey and Egypt. Because, in order to understand the beauty of Crete, you have to drive around it, walk, in a word, travel, and it’s difficult to see all this while sitting in a hotel. Although there are quite good hotels in Crete, the same 4.5 *, without glamor and pathos, as in Turkey, Egypt, but with their own seasoned style, European service and, in my opinion, the best food. And as for the prices, they are not so different when compared by the levels of hotels. In May, it turned out to be cheaper and better for us to fly to Crete than to Turkey / Egypt.

imho, do not rest in hotels. this is a place to sleep, eat (if there is nowhere else, it’s much more interesting to go to a tavern) and relax. rest is the sea and excursions.
the sea is good everywhere, excursions too. they are just different .... it's like comparing meat and cake.
in Greece, the standard of living is higher, therefore the prices are higher. there are Greeks with their own culture, in Turkey there are Turks with their own culture, in Egypt there are Egyptians... everything has its pluses and, of course, its minuses. in Greece there are no pyramids, in Turkey - the Palace of Knossos, in Egypt - Cappadocia.
