Traveling to Santorini on your own...
Dear forum users!!! Please, give advice, hints on how best to organize an independent trip to Santorini from Hersonissos (possibly with an overnight stay) ... Where to start? Does anyone have any useful links (ferry schedules, how to book a hotel)?

my friends went to Crete in September and from there for a day to Santorini .. they said that it was insanely expensive there .. but it's worth it .. they took apartments upon arrival there without booking in advance ..

You can see hotels, prices and their location through booking.com. I didn’t book either, wrote out the addresses of suitable hotels and settled on the spot.

888kris, veselaya_ulitka, You made me happy. THOSE. You can easily rent a hotel room on the spot. And somehow, without the experience of armoring through the Internet, it’s scary ... Although I understand that it’s time to learn this. veselaya_ulitka, thanks a lot for the link. Have you already bought boat tickets in Crete? Have you booked online?

my friends didn't book the boat..

888kris , well then everything is much easier than I thought... :)

We were in Hersonissos in June. The agency on the street bought tickets for a huge ship for 78 euros right the next day (breakfast and lunch included). Sailing 4 hours. Started at 7 am until 1 am returned. And the price for the boat was 120 euros for 2 hours of travel. We were lucky with the weather: it was completely calm. If you don’t tolerate pitching, it’s better not to get involved.

It is really more convenient to buy tickets at an agency, there should be a lot of them around the city, especially in the center.

irinaaa200561, We can normally endure pitching :) And is this a round trip or one way ("on a huge ship for 78 euros", "on a boat the price was 120 euros")? And they bought only tickets, without an excursion program?

veselaya_ulitka, I also wanted to ask: how long have you been looking for a hotel on the spot? And where would you recommend staying? I focus on hotels in the center of Fira, but I liked another hotel - "in the heart of the village of Perissa and just a few meters from the black sandy beach." Is it even close to where the ferries come from?

unfortunately I can't advise. I had a slightly different route in Greece (the scheme is about the same). In Athens, there are free buses to the nearest metro station + enough taxis. On the islands in the port, in my opinion, there are only taxis, but I still advise you to look around when you arrive at the port. Perhaps there is also a free shuttle for passengers. Check the location of the hotel on google map. You can turn to passers-by on the spot, if you know English (preferably for young people), they will help you navigate.

The price of 78 euros included sailing on the ship back and forth, breakfast, lunch. And for 120 euros like how to sail on a Rocket. A tour of Fira who wanted to separately 30 euros. We are in the municipality. by bus (a little more than 1 euro) we went ourselves to the black beach in Kamari. Everything is close there. Stop at the top in the city. This island is a rock. You swim almost to a vertical wall. Lift 4 euros. But it's better than climbing on a donkey: the stench is terrible. And half way the donkey stops. They have it set up: why torture an animal? And go upstairs on foot. And the heat is terrible. It's a volcanic island after all.

veselaya_ulitka, thanks for the advice! irinaaa200561, thanks for such details, they are very necessary and important to me! Did you have enough time to see everything you wanted in Santorini? I just don’t even know how best to organize a trip there: one day, or stay overnight?
аватар irinaaa200561
As far as I know: it is expensive to spend the night there. Maybe on the Internet there is a hotel reservation in advance on the island? What time of year do you eat? It's terribly hot in summer. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day. And who took the tour, and who traveled. Arrived around 11:00 am and departed at 5:00 pm. Decide at least on the Internet what you want to see.

Yes, I'm trying to decide, asking the "experienced" :) There is a reservation on the Internet, but as I understand it, you need a credit card for this (and this is already a problem of time and fuss). Yes, and it’s scary on the Internet somehow, I have never booked yet ... I’m going at the end of May.

tatianacrete, thanks for the tip. Well, as I understand it, you can manage to get to Heraklion by 9.00 by local public transport, from where the "Cat" leaves at about this time ... Or did I misunderstand something?
аватар tatianacrete
I'm not sure that by 9.00, but expect that the road to the port will take you about an hour, plus 5-10 minutes to walk from the bus station to the ferry, it's not far there. There are no ferry schedules yet, but as far as I know they leave from 8.00 to 9.00.
аватар Korallovaya
tatianacrete, when will the ferry schedule appear?
аватар tatianacrete
Ferries start running from the beginning of May, depending on the weather and wind strength. I will find out more and let you know.
аватар Korallovaya
thanks tatianacrete! I will be very grateful.
аватар tatianacrete
The ferry schedule will appear at the end of March, as the largest tour operator told me!
аватар Korallovaya
tatianacrete, thank you very much!!!
