What is worth seeing in Crete?
What is worth seeing in Crete. We are planning to rent a car and drive around the island. Tell me what are the approximate distances and to what. What time do the attractions open and what time do they close? How much do the entrance tickets cost.

Type in Yandex: Sights of Crete.
Read reviews about hotels, there, as a rule, people write about it and you can also ask questions there

Thank you! But I am directly interested in the opinion of the people who were in Crete. I was in Greece and in the center in Athens and in other places and I know that the country is interesting, but still not all sightseeing points deserve attention.

If you take my review of Crete, I wrote where we went. For me, the main thing was SANTORINI. We didn’t all visit from what was planned. We didn’t even reach Ageuss Nikolaus before Heraklion. This was also included in the plans. But we only had a week. I read where to go and what to see according to the reviews of tourists. I wrote down the most interesting for me.

Good afternoon. Let me tell you where we were
1. Santorini. Very beautiful, but I still recommend to go there on your own. It will not be much cheaper than with a tour, but you will have more freedom and time to wander around on your own. Ideal to stay for 1 night. visit the towns of Fira, Oia and the black volcanic sand beach. if you have a small child, refrain from the tour. in the heat of the day there is no pleasure to walk there. very beautiful, but in the crowd it is impossible to enjoy. We went on tour and it was a mistake. I also dreamed of visiting Santorini, but it turned out somehow blurry ... The tour from Millennium Travel cost 155 euros per person. child 50%.
2. Agios Nicholas is a beautiful town. We rented a car and drove there on our own.
3. Palm Beach Vai. We rented a car and drove there on our own. My opinion is that there is nothing to see there. the stories that the bounty ads were filmed there gave rise to unusual pictures in my imagination. So when I arrived, I was disappointed. small beach, dry palm trees, sunbeds for 9 euros. no exotic)) but if you still decide to go there, then evaluate the strength. the road is an unpleasant serpentine. and it depends where you start from.

4. Heraklion. We traveled on our own. walked around the central part, went down to the embankment, to the port. did not go to museums. did not go to the palace of Knossos.
5. Gramvousa and Balok Beach went on tour. it cost us about 80 euros per person. nice. I have a booklet. if you want to go there yourself, that is the site of the port from where the ships leave for Gramvusa. People traveled to Balok by car on their own. I would go here.
all trips are equidistant from the center from Heraklion. it all depends on which part of Crete you are staying in. we lived in the village of Hersonissos, the transfer to the boat to Gramvousa was 3 hours ... so choose the sights that are closer to you.

Good afternoon.
From what previous advisers have not yet mentioned, it makes sense to visit the Kourtaliot Gorge - impressive, you can combine it with a trip to Moni Preveli (a functioning monastery) and the palm beach of Preveli, these three attractions are nearby.
I also liked the beach in Matale, on the way to it there are the ruins of Gortyna, which was the capital of Crete under the Romans.
Heraklion and the Palace of Knossos are not particularly impressive.
Rethymnon is a beautiful seaside town, worth a visit.
And of course Santorini, but it’s not the best option to go with a one-day excursion - everything is running around, too little time is given to see Fira and Oia.

or you can just drive a car and drive into those places that are brown on the signs.
All the same, you need to take a walk around the Palace of Knossos, my opinion, visit Malia too ...
