Located in the city of Hersonissos, 25 km from the airport and the capital of the island - Heraklion. To the embankment, where bars, clubs, restaurants are concentrated on foot 3 minutes, to the main street of Hersonissos 10 minutes. Public transport stops on the same street. The fare to Heraklion costs 3.30 €, to Agios - Nikolaos 4.60 €. Near the hotel there is a Masodakis supermarket in a three-minute walk and a large two-story Chalkiadakis on the main street.
The check-in went quickly, we didn’t have to wait much, we filled out the documents, paid for the tour. tax - 4 €, put on bracelets. Belboy met with soft drinks, helped with luggage.
Double room overlooking the pool, quite spacious and bright. The furniture is good, comfortable mattress, air conditioning, refrigerator, TV. Shampoo, soap, cream the hotel provides.
The territory of the hotel is small, consisting of two pools with fresh water. One indoor pool. Sun loungers and umbrellas by the pools are free. There is a pool bar, a lobby bar serving champagne and cocktails and a beach bar.
The beach is 3 minutes in a straight line. Sandy, very narrow coastline. Entrance to the sea - stone slabs, stones, you need special shoes. Sun loungers and umbrellas - 4 € set. There is a shower room and a dressing room. Lavatory at the bar. Beach towels can be obtained at the reception - 5€ deposit, changed every two days.
Every day daily animation by the pool: stretching, water aerobics, darts. In the evenings Greek evening, live music.
The food is all inclusive, very decent and tasty. Drinks include local wines, beer, lemonades, juices, coffee, tea. At breakfast: pastries, omelettes, Greek yogurt, cereals, fruits, jams, nuts.
Lunch and dinner: puree soup, grilled and oven meat, fish, salads, vegetables, side dishes, traditional Greek dishes, desserts, fruits.
Internet throughout the territory is free, good signal. The restaurant on the lower floor sometimes disappears.
I really liked the hotel, good food, rooms, service, there is Russian-speaking staff, by the way. But the beach is not very good here.
So, we bought a ticket to Mouzenidis Travel, chose this region so that it was close to the capital, and there was where to have fun, because we are young people, so we want drive))
We flew quite well, at the airport, however, we lost our luggage. We were worried that the transfer would go without us, but no, we waited after all (thanks for not leaving us ourselves). We settled in the Hersonissus Palace Hotel 5 *. The first thing we liked was that a company representative met us at the hotel and helped us check in. I was also pleased that immediately after arrival we were given the keys to the room, although the check-in here is from 12:00. I must also say thanks to the efficiency of the staff.
We have a standard room for two people overlooking the pool. The room is simple, bright and clean. Towels, slippers, bathrobes - everything is included.
The hotel has a gym, two swimming pools, three all inclusive bars, which are open by 23:00 after a separate fee, one of these bars is located on the waterfront, where you can sit perfectly in the evening. Two minutes walk to the sea, there are also many shops, restaurants, pharmacies, etc. nearby, also a big plus of the hotel is that there is free Wi-Fi throughout the territory.
We are satisfied with the hotel and our vacation, I don’t want to go home, although time is already running out.
The hotel has 2 buildings, one main second secondary.
They lived in the second building. The furniture is old, the audibility is terrible, you can hear how tourists are settled, how someone goes home at night, and even conversations behind the wall.
The balcony is so small that it is impossible to dry the towels without moving the neighbors.
I have never seen such nonsense as replacing a beach towel every 3 days and must be returned dry. Do not accept wet
The staff is very rude, especially in their dining room. The head of the skeet apparently considered himself a great restaurateur, allowed himself to be rude and raise his voice. And all because of the fact that my husband and I sat down at the 4-seater table together.
The food is mediocre, nothing special so you won't go hungry.
The only good thing about this hotel is its location and the all inclusive beach bar.
The hotel is absolutely not 5* and overpriced
We were given a hotel room with a view of the pool, in the evenings unobtrusive music often played there, it was nice to enjoy the rest with a glass of wine, sitting on the balcony. The room was cleaned every day, cleaned well. But they were rarely in the room, only in the evenings, and so mostly on the beach or went on excursions.
The beach near the hotel is not particularly remarkable, after a couple of days we went to the neighboring beach of the Creta Maris hotel, and sometimes walked along the promenade of Hersonissos, 5-10 minutes walk and you can find good beaches near restaurants where you could have a bite, the average check per person is 15 euros , this along with a bottle of wine.
As for the food at the hotel, I can say one thing - everything was delicious. A varied selection of dishes prepared from quality products. There were always delicious sweets, and fruits, and ice cream. One of the evenings near the pool, the hotel arranged a barbecue evening, that's what we ate! There was meat, and fish, and vegetables, and all this was cooked on the grill in front of you. Plus there was live music. In general, we were satisfied with our stay and our choice of hotel.
Weather: it was different, then the sun, then the wind that the eyelashes rolled up : ), then the rain, then the storm. We were told in Crete that it is, if it is cloudy in the morning, then there will be sun in the afternoon, sunshine in the morning, clouds in the afternoon. They didn’t take warm clothes, the evenings are warm, even when it’s windy.
Excursions: we immediately knew that we would go to Santorini in any way, they didn’t take a tour from the operator Tez on our tour, the price was 165 euros, they took it on the street and the agency for 107 euros, there was nowhere less, they went around 10 agencies, bargained, all to no avail, especially since the movement was on the vessel High speed 5, it is a fast and comfortable boat of green color. An interesting excursion, especially since I saw a beach with black volcanic sand. all parts of Crete, in the photo they promise heavenly places from 35-60 euros for an excursion. We also went to Agios Nikolaos and Elounda, our friends rode in a convertible in that direction, it’s worth seeing, Elounda has an excellent beach and a calm bay, a beautiful place, a town I also liked Agios Nikolas, there is a deep lake, near the bench, you can sit and watch the landscape. There is also a disco Alexandros, cheerful music, dance, try wine with sprite (the bartender recommended).
Entertainment: there is nothing entertaining in the hotel, there is a Cretan evening once a week for 16 euros, but we didn’t go, because it’s a lot of food + music + dancing. there was no point in paying 16 euros for either. This hotel is located near bars, taverns, discos. You go outside and then the inviting to institutions begins. Who is interested in a short tour of the disco: 1. Bio Bio is one of the first disco on the main street, the music is varied, the service is good, we liked it
2. New York a little further, also a good place, overlooking the beach, dance music, polite service.
3. Palm beach at the Palm beach hotel, darkness and kapets! I definitely do not recommend! We ordered a hookah for 10 euros, until the money was given away, the waiter jumped near us, after 5 minutes after the hookah was brought, he brought the bill and asked to pay, we paid (there was a mistake !!! ) and went to dance on a special platform two meters from our table , danced 2 songs, returned, but there is no hookah... we go to the waiter like where the hookah is, and he says that he thought we went home, he refused to return the money, after such an attitude and an idiotic contingent, all smoky foreigners with glassy eyes, we really they wanted to leave, but instead of money they decided to demand a new hookah, yeah, it wasn’t there, we waited 30 minutes and every 10 minutes reminding him and catching this waiter running near us and avoiding us, they brought hookahs to other people, and us ignored. Tip: pay only at the end! There are no rules anywhere to demand money before the end of the gatherings! If they are afraid that you will leave and not pay, this is their problem, let them better look after customers.
In general, the rest was a success and I liked it, the main thing is a great mood and not to pay attention to the negative that you can always encounter. This is your long-awaited vacation and let no one spoil it! : )
As for the food - a typical all-inclusive, nothing new, rather friendly waiters.
Of the minuses. When we decided to go on an excursion for the whole day, and asked to give us a lunch box, we were refused, because. this is not provided by the hotel.
In addition, we saw a huge cockroach in the bathroom in the room. When we told the administrator about this, the answer killed us. We were told that it is impossible to live here without them, they climb into the windows))))
Beach towels are issued subject to a deposit - 5 euros per piece.
There is no beach here, in principle, like all hotels along the coast of Hersonissos, but it takes exactly 2 minutes to go there.
As far as housekeeping goes, they don't take it seriously. It can be seen that everything is unwashed, covered in dust.
And so, I would give this hotel 3+ stars, but not 5.
1. Close to the airport
2. Not less than 4 *
3. Not far from the beach
4. In the city, so that there is a place to go
The hotel did not disappoint!
Good city hotel, comfortable standard rooms, food-everything is very tasty! well-kept grounds, large swimming pool. There is a spa and a gym, but we never looked there)
There is nothing for children, so there were no families with children.
To the beach 3 minutes, the beach is good, city sunbeds 5 euros.
The center of Hersonissos is 5 minutes away. Near shops, taverns. Very close to the waterfront with clubs.
Hersonissos is a cheerful town with an active nightlife.
We were very pleased with our vacation!
We recommend the hotel not for those who want to lie by the pool all day, but for active, cheerful people!
Traveled in September 2013. The tour was bought through the Kiev travel agency "Kraina-tour", and the trip itself was organized by the tour operator "Albiz-tour". I have never met a more illiterate travel organization. It was the worst vacation in the last 10 years. If we were told that in Crete it is not worth taking a hotel within the city (and we were in Crete for the first time), maybe we would have chosen something else, for example, the same Hersonissos Maris. But first things first.
We were met at the airport not by a representative of ALBIS-tour, but by a certain Phoenix-tour company. The guy handed us a brochure with excursions and sent us by taxi to the city of Hersonissos. Check-in in Crete, it turns out, takes place from 14-00, and since we arrived at 10-00, we had to sit in the lobby. The room was given about 2 hours later. What we saw is not even 2 stars - a tiny room that does not even fit a suitcase! The shower stall is so tiny that my husband, who wears a size 48, barely squeezed sideways into it. And to sit on the toilet, you had to shrug your shoulders. Plus, all this pleasure goes out into the street and to the neighboring building of the same hotel, where the liquor is located. I had to fall asleep that day to the noise of groaning vacationers. When we expressed our emotions to the representative of Phoenix, a certain Taisiya, she calmly remarked that these were our problems, because. they sold us a bad hotel in Albis Tour. The only benefit from this Taisiya was that the next day we changed the room. The room was better and bigger. But in order to see the street, one had to go out onto the balcony, move to its left edge, bend over and try to see a piece of the sky. Next to the railing there was a balcony of some of our neighbors, well, the second for the company. On the last day, on our common balcony, we met the Germans and started talking. They did not like the hotel either, and the price of the rest turned out to be the same as ours.
The hotel staff does not speak Russian, so if you go, learn English or Greek. Who likes what.
The hotel does not have a territory. The only thing is the presence of a swimming pool in each annex (building) of the hotel and sun loungers around. Near our annex, the city dump lived its own life, dousing us with amber when going to the beach. The beach is a small strip of land, naturally municipal, but the best places on it are occupied by sunbeds (3 euros per day) and umbrellas (2 euros per day). Some with bedding were lying on some kind of humps in the center of this blessed place. We were not lucky with the weather - out of 8 days of rest - 6 days the sea was stormy. As follows from the reviews I read, this is a common thing in Crete. Well, God bless him. The real test for me was the "cry" of the cicadas. I got used to this day 4. From morning to night, these creatures yell in unison.
The food was quite tolerable, but not at all the declared 5 * (and we were sold the hotel as a five-star one). Pretty terrible European breakfast (sausages, beans, etc. ), but I know from experience that it is everywhere, even in Egypt, even in Prague, even in Budapest. For dinner they gave some dish from the chef plus everything else. But there was no diversity. There was no talk of any national dishes at all. In general, you won’t stay hungry, but our meal was called to fill your stomach with at least something, if only you didn’t want to eat. When leaving for the airport, we were even "fed" - there was a plate on the table, covered with cling film. It contained a dried bun, butter without butter, for some reason Egyptian production, one nectarine, a little jam and some vegetables from yesterday. We were not supposed to have tea or coffee, so we drank UPI from the cooler. Yes, we took the breakfast-dinner system and were very sorry. Firstly, when dining in the city, they spent 3 times more on food than if they bought an all-inclusive. Our travel agency, on the contrary, advised us this particular food system. Secondly, drinks at dinner at a restaurant cost as much as 3 cans of beer at a local private shop. We didn’t come across good wine in Crete - some kind of terrible sourness. Our banal Rkatsiteli from the supermarket produced by the Ovidiopol winery is a hundred times better. This is not only my opinion, we talked there with our tourists. In general, I think that all this is a flaw of our travel agency, which hid these details from us (about the food system) and a flaw of the host, whose representative TAISIA was at the hotel once a day and then at 6 pm. Another disadvantage of the BB food system is that in the hotel liquor we had to buy drinks at their prices - about 3 euros for a can of beer, in a store across the street it costs 1 euro. You are not allowed to bring your own drinks. If some kind of entertainment program is running, the condition is the same: you can’t bring your own, but the places are occupied by those who have an inclusive. You can't go to the beach, it's a storm. Our Germans also went restless, but they diluted their "rest" with discos. They called us, but we already had to leave.
We went on an excursion to Heraklion to look at their recently unearthed Minoan civilization. Look at the pictures of those who have already been there, a fairy tale. In nature, this ruin with a bull and three columns is the only bright spot among these wrecks. Do not think, I really love history and art - I cried in front of the painting of the Madonna in the Dresden gallery - but this? In Egypt, it is even more interesting to look at their ruins. Then we were taken to the cave of Zeus, a rather interesting place. But 4 euros is also clearly not worth it. Personally, I was interested in the fact that the human eye picks out stalactites and stalagmites in gray from the darkness, and the camera - in red, yellow, well, apparently, depending on the color of the backlight. Near the cave of Zeus we were safely "forgotten" by the bus. We were lucky that a restless guide, originally from Kamenetz-Podolsk (Ukraine), took the people to join the pottery. This saved our money and nerves - my husband and I have never run 1.5 kilometers so quickly. In response to our reproach, the strict guide said: "But I agreed, well, there, with a Pole, so that he would pick you up... " I still have a question - with which Pole? The only valuable thing in this excursion was a visit to two Orthodox monasteries - Mother of God Kardiotissa and Mother of God Vidyani (Life-Giving Spring). And in one and in the second one feels that which distinguishes a holy place from other things. Both in one and in the second there are ancient miraculous icons. Copies are sold at the local church shop. The price starts from 10 euros for a picture slightly larger than a matchbox. By the way, at the Kiev airport we were met by a strict aunt in the form of a customs officer and politely began to interrogate if we were carrying icons and fur coats. So be careful, you will have to pay customs duty for these purchases.
Yes, I will tell you more about the excursion. Somewhere at home there is still a price list with prices. Our enterprising Phoenix bent prices very well. For example, our Heraklion cost them 54 euros per nose, the island of Santorini - 175 euros per person. We took a tour at a street travel agency. Heraklion cost us 27 euros per person, Santorini 92 euros per person. Conditions, believe me, the same. With us, the Tez Tour Bus arrived - the same two-story one as ours. And there were also 78 of them. I will tell you that it is very convenient when 78 people are stretching their ears and necks to the only guide, trying to hear at least something for their honestly paid 27 euros. Well, as the experience of my friends who traveled around Croatia shows, forgetting tourists on excursions is a pan-European disease. They call it taking care of other tourists who are forced to wait for latecomers. There, absolutely no one is interested in the aspect that by jumping in the mountains you could twist your leg or something happened to your child. Late-your problems, get to the hotel on your own. And if this is an island, well, I don’t know, you can try swimming.
I want to finish you in my review next. Being at the reception, we met tourists from the TEZ tour. They were in the process of resolving the issue of settlement, because. their tour operator called back and said that they would be provided with another hotel, because. In Hersonissos Palace NO!!!?!! ! STANDARD rooms. I wonder what category of room we lived in then and in which one... We were sent by the travel agent "Kraina-tour" with her impolite director Lena and the tour operator "Albiz-tour"?
In conclusion, I want to say that you really need to rent a car to explore the island. It turned out to be very inexpensive compared to our expectations and, taking into account the cost of gasoline, they have 1.4 euros. The cars are good and in good condition. You can even take a convertible if you want. Rental points are everywhere, there are no problems with this. Do not get hung up on the offers of your tour operator, who wants to earn you extra money.
And on the second excursion - the island of Gramvousa, we never went. The husband said: "They will also forget on the island... ". In general, this is a very beautiful place to relax, the beach, roughly speaking, but for your extra money. In general, Crete disappointed me. I expected that the nature there is more picturesque. Our Crimea is much more beautiful.
That's all. Have a good trip, impressions!!!
And conscientious tour operators who want not only to earn money, but also to make sure that you feel good for your money.
P. S. And we will not go to Crete again. Maybe someday we'll get to mainland Greece.
