The Jomtien area was taken deliberately. Our children rested in Pattaya, they lived in the center, but for us they recommended Jomtien. The city center is noisy, there are discos and bars, there are more youth hangouts. And we lived in the most popular hotel area.
The track nearby is very calm, although there is no concept of letting a pedestrian pass, whoever had time, he drove or passed. There are tuks going to the city center past the hotel. The first time we wandered around the city for a long time (in the center the main streets are one-way) and there are many lanes between them. I advise everyone to connect the Internet to a SIM card from a tour operator (they give a printout of how to do this, everything is very accessible and understandable). You will always be in touch with the map.
Eurostar is a small hotel, which seems to consist of two buildings: one is newer, the second is older (International). Between them is a pool. We lived in Eurostar Jomtien, which is newer, more modern or something. This building has a small swimming pool on the 4th floor. Now I read that in the summer there was a renovation by the pool, which is good, because in the spring, when we rested, there were no stairs in the pool.
The rooms are generally not bad, spacious, modern TV, a bar (which is better to check before checking in according to the list), a safe (to keep valuables in it), but cosmetic repairs are required, the plumbing is already on the verge, it flows here, it drips. The cleaning is useless, they tried once again not to litter, not to carry sand on their feet in the room, because the floors are not washed, and the bed is not changed, but only refueled. The staff does not speak Russian, we do not know much English. Therefore, they could not communicate with them, except with gestures. Breakfasts are served in the restaurant, it is located separately from the buildings, almost near the beach. I didn't really like the breakfasts, they are more Thai style. Sometimes we missed them. We bought some yogurt or muffin in the store or had fruit for breakfast.
There will be no problems with food at other times. There are many good cafes in the area, and in the evening we went to the night market, back from the market we walked along the embankment.
The sea is quite decent, in the morning the water is cleaner, it has not yet been stirred up. We swam, there are specially fenced areas. To the sea 50 meters. The sand is warm, located in the shade right on the towels on the sand, sunbeds are paid. We went to Koh Lan once, unfortunately, I am severely motion sick. Sea transport is not for me, it was tiring. Then we went to the Military Beach with an excursion. 300 baht per person and Dancing Girl Beach 450 baht per person. Pick up from the hotel and back. Of the excursions, we visited Nong Nooch - an incredibly beautiful park, a zoo - although I thought, well, what I didn’t see at the zoo, it turns out a lot of things, fed a giraffe, held a rhinoceros by the horn, saw a tapir, orangutans, koala and other animals that you won’t see in regular zoo. There was also a show with animals at the zoo. The excursion to Bangkok was not easy for us, but then, when the impressions subsided, we realized that we had not gone in vain. I really liked the Mystery of Siam tour, the group was small, quiet tour, visited interesting temples, got acquainted with traditions, places where we were non-tourist.
We didn’t get it right right away with the hotel guide, we studied the price list at home on the excursion (we took Alexei from the i-tour company, ordered the tour by phone, he himself came to our hotel, trips on a small prepayment). There is a travel agency nearby, but they are more expensive than where we took it. The hotel also offers, but expensive, at the first meeting they marinate for 2 hours, the goal is to sell excursions. We became enemy number 1, because we did not buy excursions from him. It would be better if we didn’t go there at all, so as not to catch sidelong glances when we meet.
But the attitude of the tour operator did not spoil the rest, the impressions of the trip, that these little things and shortcomings of the hotel are simply forgotten. If the budget allows, stay in a hotel of a higher category, do not think, settle. If the goal is to save on accommodation and spend more on impressions, then Eurostar rooms are quite possible to spend the night. The photos of the hotel on the Anex website do not correspond to reality at all. Deposit upon check-in 100 dollars per room.
This time, unfortunately, I had such a need. One day, returning from a walk, I did not find among my things a couple of things, albeit not expensive, but very necessary for me. And like nonsense, but still somehow unpleasant. I don’t know, maybe it was worth spitting on everything, forgetting and continuing your vacation as if nothing had happened, but where is the guarantee that tomorrow something else won’t disappear from the shadow? Does the guest really need to hide all things in a safe before a walk? And where can I get such a safe so that everything fits in it? What to bring with you? So I decided that I still need to report the loss to the reception. What was my surprise when a person who, according to his duties, seemed to be put there to help, began to behave too aggressively, in my opinion, and resent my treatment, while still raising his voice at me. As a result, we settled on the fact that "you can not expect any help today, like come tomorrow. " We are not proud people, tomorrow - so tomorrow. But the next day, the staff did not even want to listen. After talking with other guests, it turned out that things were also disappearing from them, that is, theft in a hotel is quite a common occurrence, put on stream. If this is really the case, and it’s not just me that was “lucky”, then such indifferently aggressive behavior of the staff becomes understandable - everyone knows everything, but hand in hand... well, you know.
So keep, people, money in a savings bank, and all more or less valuable things in a safe. You can close your eyes to a lot, especially when you see the friendly attitude of the people working in the hotel towards you, but frank rudeness always leaves the most persistent sediment in your soul. And if you ask me: "would I go to this hotel again"? Then I would answer you only with a question to the question: “would you yourself go after such a thing”?
P. S. : And now I would like to turn to tour operators who organize trips and guides in the country to stay on vacation. In particular to the Anex tour. If you know that such miracles happen from time to time in a hotel, why would you yourself make an offer to the company for insurance against theft? And then it comes to the ridiculous - already cosmetics, dresses and shoes must be hidden behind seven locks. I hope that my words will be heard.
We were in Thailand for the first time and we hope to come again
but perfectly understands gestures) well-trained to the outrageous breakfast buffet the choice is huge I recommend !!!!! !
All around, loud Indians are always chewing something and spitting on the floor, they are not shy about spitting into the pool, there is a terrible smell from the garbage dump outside the window, and the lack of isolation has finished us off completely, it seems that the Indians do not sleep at all or sleep in turns because they are afraid to be in silence !
When I was traveling, I was promised the absence of this nation, but upon arrival it turned out that the manager had changed and the policy of the hotel had changed accordingly...
They feed on a weak 3, wi-fi does not catch at all, so when you ask why it does not work, they say that the service is paid, but even having paid it does not solve the problem of its absence, as it was not and is not.
The peak of my disappointment was the stolen gold pendant, and my friend had an expensive camera from the SAFE!! ! Despite the fact that during the trial, the Thais shrugged and said we don’t know anything and don’t want to know... I’ll say right away that neither a tablet nor a beech will fit into a safe, decide for yourself where to hide if you have enough imagination...
Everything is fine if you come and only spend the night at the hotel, but it’s very uncomfortable that your room is being searched for drugs and it’s impossible to sleep, friends from neighboring rooms didn’t give a damn about your regimen.
Friends as you wish, but this hotel is better to bypass and it is better to run past!
We bought a ticket a month and a half before the appointed date, to the tour company Unitours, of which we are regular customers. The cost of the tour for 12 days with Bangkok and two sightseeing tours turned out to be 61.000 for two, plus we had a 5% discount.
The main plus of the hotel is the location, at the beginning of Jomtien beach, there are many cafes and shops nearby, the city center is within easy reach by tuk-tuk, and the pier is also 12 minutes by tuk-tuk.
The service is the most friendly, the Thais smile, ask how they can help, they clean well in holes, while you can not leave a tip.
The hotel has no territory as such, the beach is public across the road, not dirty by the standards of Pattaya, but you can’t compare it with the islands.
The room is large and modern, the bed linen and towels are white, the plumbing is clean.
Nearby there are many cafes, shops, macarons, currency exchange offices.
The room has a safe, a TV (with Russian channels), a refrigerator, air conditioning, Wi-Fi (free of charge, but the speed is low), no hair dryer (but you can ask at the reception), a shower, they give daily shampoo and shower gel.
At the time of our stay (beginning of May 2012) there were mosquitoes in the room, so take insect repellant.
Linen was not changed every day for us (pillowcases and sheets often, and the duvet cover was changed once during our entire stay).
There is an elevator and a luggage weighing machine for 10 baht.
The pool is small and with unclear water, but people swim.
The view from the rooms is to put it mildly "not very". On the one hand, shabby houses, on the other, a neighboring hotel.
In general, everything is nice and cozy.
But we were very unlucky for two nights. Across the road in the courtyard (away from the city center) is a cafe with an excellent acoustic system and live music. And Thais in it periodically celebrate holidays until the middle of the night. And it's very loud! Even earplugs don't help!
So if you go to this hotel, stock up on earplugs, mosquito repellent and forgive the room, whose windows overlook the neighboring hotel. There will definitely not be heard the festivities of Thais.
Let me tell you about the price. From Moscow tour for two 14 nights with breakfast - 57000.
The hotel is located at the very beginning of Jomtien (Soi 1 - the first lane from Jomtien), 100 m from the sea (practically, cross the road), to the center by tuk-tuk at any time 10-15 minutes. Near shops "7 eleven", "Family Mart", a good market with inexpensive fruits. . .
It is a five-story building with 32 rooms in total. Bar, massage parlour, small swimming pool. I won’t say anything about the bar and massage parlor - I didn’t use it.
In the room: air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, safe, and, of course, furniture. Hot water from an instantaneous heater - no problem. The shower is not a cabin, but a curtain. Shampoo, soap. There is only cold water in the sink, how "cold" it can be at a constant temperature of 30 degrees. Sometimes even in the shower with pleasure washed only "cold" water.
The floor in the room is ceramic tiles.
The windows overlook the rooms ending in 1-5 on the lane between the first and second streets of Jomtien. Opposite is some kind of four-story shabby building with garbage around. The lane is quiet, there is almost no transport, and even that one passes very quietly, as there are speed bumps on both sides.
The windows of the rooms ending in 6-9 overlook the wall of the Palm Beach Hotel. Gloomy.
Although, what's the difference, we practically did not curtain the windows. By the way, there are balconies only on the 4th and 5th floors in rooms 1 to 5 (401-405.501-505). Maybe for smokers this is important, I didn’t care.
Air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, safe - all good, worked fine.
Removed daily. Towels are changed every day, linen is also changed, however, I did not pay attention to something with what frequency. Every day they put two bottles of 0.6 of drinking water. Enough. Before leaving, we accumulated six unclaimed bottles.
At the reception, beach towels are free in the basket. You take without any record, and in the evening you throw it into the basket.
The pool is small, but there are few people and therefore it is quite enough. I have never seen more than two people swimming at the same time. Near the pool there are sunbeds, tables, chairs, umbrellas. I didn’t swim myself - it’s a sin to swim in the pool when the sea is nearby.
Yes, there is an elevator.
In short, all this suited me very well, since we only slept at the hotel, and sometimes ran in during the day to change clothes and take a shower.
The hotel is very quiet, for the whole time of our stay we did not hear any noise of parties, did not see any noisy companies.
Contingent: of those whom I saw, I can say that there are not many Russians, most of them are a couple of European pensioners.
Now about the breakfast, which, of course, shocked me after the Egyptian all-inclusive. For breakfast, there are 4 dishes to choose from. A menu with color photos and an inscription in English, Russian and Thai (by the way, it was printed in December last year, that is, it has not changed since then). So:
1. rice soup with meat - something like thick soup or thin porridge in meat broth with pieces of meat;
2. a dish called ". . . sunny up" - 3-4 small pieces of cucumber-tomato-onion, fried small sausage, 2 small fried pieces of ham-ham, fried egg (probably the yolk is "sunny up");
3. see No. 2, but instead of a fried egg - an omelet, that's what is called an "omelet";
4. see No. 3, but the omelette is not just fried, but mixed and it turns out so uneven - the dish is called "struggle".
To this, two toasts, a portion of butter and jam, as well as 3-4 small pieces of watermelon-pineapple.
Coffee (Nescafe instant), tea, cream powder, granulated sugar, orange juice, such as "Yupi", ice and teapots with boiling water are on a separate table - drink as much as you want.
It may not be nicely described by me, but everything is very tasty and fresh. This is not pre-cooked - you sit down at the table, they approach you, poke your finger into the chosen one and start frying it all, you have to wait 5-10 minutes. By the way, if you need to go somewhere on time, it’s better to come for breakfast with a margin of time, Thais are leisurely people...
There are no complaints about the quality, it seemed to me that the volume is small, since I like to eat. But, in principle, it was enough, after this breakfast (and we usually had breakfast around 8), we could easily go to dinner at 4 or 5.
Well, and who will still be missed - you will go to the left - cafes and shops, you will go to the right - cafes, shops and macaques... There are no problems with food here. Yes, and the prices are good.
Breakfast at the hotel from 7 to 11. If you go on an excursion earlier, then tell the reception and they will prepare a dry breakfast for you. I used it once - they gave yogurt, two cupcakes in a package and a jar of cold coffee.
It seems that he wrote everything. Of course, the numbers may differ, but I think not much. I lived in 2 rooms on the 5th and 2nd floor - almost identical. I changed the room, because on arrival they gave me a large bed (I was resting with my daughter), since there were no two beds. They changed it the next day with no problems.
About insects. Sometimes there are small ants, but if the food is removed, then they are not visible.
Nothing dries in the room. I got out of the situation - I hooked the cord from the camera case between the window and the air conditioner, washed it in the evening, everything is dry in the morning - the air conditioner constantly works, everything dries up pretty nicely.
About many hotels they write that they steal. I don't know - everything of value was put away in a safe. The safe is decent in size - about 35x25 and 20 cm high.
The TV set was turned on a couple of times for a short time, there were 70 channels. There are Russian ones, and there are Russian Pattaya ones. But how much and what - was not interested.
The staff is very friendly, like most of the Thais we met during these two weeks.
We liked the hotel and we were all satisfied. I will gladly visit it again.
Damn, I almost forgot. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. I had a netbook with me, so I had news and chat with friends. The password must be asked at the reception. There is also a computer at the reception, you can also use it if you didn’t bring it with you, however, there is a Latin-Thai keyboard. I think it's also free.
