Downstairs there was a living room combined with a kitchen (small but has all the necessary utensils, a two-burner stove, microwave, refrigerator, brand new electric kettle and drip coffee maker). Floor - ceramic tiles. The furniture in our room was fairly new, nothing was broken, everything was very clean. The living room has a table with chairs, a wardrobe and an ottoman sofa. Downstairs there is a bathroom, a small one - there is no bath, the shower is without a curtain and therefore the floor is flooded, but this is not too much inconvenience. There is a small veranda in front of the entrance to the room, there is a table and 4 chairs.
On the second floor there is a hall with 2 armchairs and the same sofa, access to the balcony and a door to the bedroom. Bedroom with a good double bed and built-in wardrobe. There is a small LCD TV, but we never found a Russian channel. The bedroom has air conditioning, if the door is not closed, then the entire second floor is well cooled. Since it was very hot, you can not do without it. Before the trip, I was warned that you had to pay 7 euros a day for using the air conditioner, but we either had a broken access (there is a box with a keyhole on the wall near the air conditioner), or the owners generally decided to make it free. One way or another, but when you press the button on the air conditioner itself, it worked, however, there was no remote control and it was impossible to regulate it in any way, but we were completely satisfied with it, and as a result, using the air conditioner cost us nothing. It was nice to find a metal folding dryer on the balcony, this is a plus, because. in some hotels there is nowhere to hang laundry or just swimsuits with towels to dry.
In general, a family of 3-4 people will be very comfortable and without cramped accommodation in such a room.
Cleaned when every day, when every other day. Apparently, they simply do not have time, there are few attendants. The hotel is family-run and is served by an elderly owner with his brother, as well as, apparently, some other relatives (cooking, selling in a store, sweeping, washing cars for rent).
There were no Russians at all in the hotel during our stay, except for us. Many Dutch and Poles, there are Germans, all family. This is not a youth hotel. The rooms were not all occupied, maybe half, or a little more. But it's good - there was no crowd. Because the pool is really very small. There is a paddling pool, but that one is generally like 2 baths in size, and knee-deep. Around the pool there is a lawn with cut grass, a lot of olive trees, sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone. There is a shower near the pool. At the back of the hotel there is a small playground for children.
As for food: we took only breakfast, a choice of either eggs (boiled or scrambled), or yogurt, rolls, butter, edible ham and inedible cheese (tastes like plastic), jam and honey in small packages, coffee or tea to choose from . In general, there is no choice, but it is quite possible to have breakfast and you will not leave hungry. You can also have lunch and dinner there, but no buffets - you order from the menu. Quite edible, but we went to other taverns, because. It's boring to have dinner in the same place every day. Some products can be bought directly in the shop near the restaurant, toilet paper, washing powder, shampoos, etc. are also sold there. new rolls are not issued, but it costs about 40 cents, so it's not a big deal.
The hotel is very close to the sea, but there is a rocky shore and there is no beach as such, walking to the wild beach is very close - 100 meters, there is sand and a very good bottom, without stones and hedgehogs, shallow, ideal for children. There are no tax collectors for sunbeds and umbrellas, they saved on this. Locals love to relax on the beach, and on weekends it is very crowded, but in general there are not too many people there, you can always find a place. One minus - the beach is quite littered, no one really cares and does not clean.
Near the beach - the Cretan Aquarium, for adults the entrance is 8 euros, for children - 6. The aquarium is not bad, although small and not as chic as in Barcelona. There are blue-gray and sand sharks, rays. Children will like it, there is an e-guide in Russian.
It’s quite stressful to walk uphill in the heat to the nearest store, so it’s better to move in search of shops and taverns to the left along the coast from the hotel, it’s much more pleasant to walk along the sea. The hotel is a bit on the outskirts, and life is in full swing to the left, there are many hotels and souvenir shops. You can go to the right, but it takes longer to get there. There is also an abandoned American military base nearby, a rather deserted place, because. many buildings have not yet been redeemed and occupied by anyone, they are slowly being destroyed.
Host - Phoenix tour. Of the excursions were in the Palace of Knossos, Heraklion, went to the Lassithi plateau and to the cave of Zeus, I liked everything, both guides speak excellent Russian and conduct interesting excursions. The only thing that blurred the impression of the rest was a taxi driver's strike, due to which our bus got into a terrible traffic jam on the way to the airport and everyone was late for the flight, but in those days all flights were delayed for this reason. As a result, they flew off normally, but did not get into duty free.
In general, in terms of price and quality, the place is very good, there is no crowding and an anthill, a calm family vacation. So I recommend.

We went to the sandy beach, which is 100 meters from the hotel, there are quite a few people there on weekdays and there are no sunbeds and umbrellas (we saved)). Breakfasts are monotonous (dinners were not taken). We dined in taverns, we did not want to dine in the heat at all. The staff at the hotel is pleasant, especially the man who rents cars, we called him Cinderella - because. he spent the whole day polishing the car to a shine)) Air conditioning and safe are paid. We paid on the last day, and another Russian couple said that they paid for the air conditioner immediately when paying for the tour. I liked the location of the hotel - between Kokkini Hani and Gouves, you can walk both in one direction and in the other. True, there is an abandoned American base nearby, the poet feels a little desolation.
In general, we recommend for a quiet holiday!

Rested in this hotel from 14 to 23 July 2009. I'll tell you about my first impressions. We were met at the Heraklion airport by representatives of the meeting party KOURKOUNIS TOURS S. A. Our guide was a girl Wilma, a good girl, but too talkative : ) - she has such a job! We put everyone on the bus and after 20 minutes we were already in the city of Gurnes, where the hotel itself is located.

Our guide was a girl Wilma, a good girl, but too talkative : ) - she has such a job! We put everyone on the bus and after 20 minutes we were already in the city of Gurnes, where the hotel itself is located.
It turned out that there used to be an American military base in this town, now only abandoned buildings and some kind of metal antenna masts are left of it.
Now about the hotel:
- the hotel is really good, we liked it. It's a quiet, family run hotel!
But for some reason they forgot to write in the advertisement that the hotel does not have its own beach! "Pebble, sand - 20 mot of the hotel across the promenade. Sunbeds and umbrellas by the pool - free of charge, on the beach - for an additional fee. " The sea is really located across the road from the hotel, and the beach is 100 meters away! The beach is municipal, there are no sunbeds and umbrellas on this beach. Maybe this is better, because. in other hotels the whole beach is full of these sunbeds with umbrellas and if you want to sunbathe - pay 6 euros! So we can say we saved on this, and the beach is really normal.
- there is indeed air conditioning in the room, but to use it you have to pay 6 euros per day! (although in advertising it is included in the price).
- a water sports center on the beach (for an additional fee), daytime and evening animation - all this is missing!
- now on the food bill, we took the BB tour (breakfast only), : )) and did the right thing! For 10 days we were fed, to choose from: boiled eggs, scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs!! ! : )tea or coffee, to choose from. , yogurt (not sweet), orange juice and a piece of cheese with sausage!
So we went to dinner in neighboring taverns, since there are enough of them! There is a mini-market in the city where you can buy something for lunch, because. I don't want to eat in hot weather.
Not far (400 meters) from the hotel there is an oceanarium, very beautiful, go - you won't regret it!
Now for the tours:
- we wanted to go to Santorini and the Palace of Knossos, but to our great regret, for all 10 days, representatives of KOURKOUNIS TOURS S. A. could not organize this for us !! ! So we saw Santorini only in the pictures, and went to the Palace of Knossos ourselves (although without a Russian-speaking guide you can’t understand anything there, the ruins are the ruins)! We walked around Heraklion, the girls went shopping! : )
Tip - rent a car (rent directly at the hotel) and you will be able to drive around the whole of Crete, see for yourself! Car rental per day from 40 to 65 euros.
You can take a quad bike and ride along the sea (40 euros).
In general, if you do not pay attention to the little things, we really liked our vacation in Crete.

Rested in Crete three of us from 5 to 19 July 2009. The flight to Heraklion from Domodedovo by Transaero turned out to be very long, as our flight was returned after a two-hour flight back to Moscow, when we were already flying somewhere over Turkey. Technical problems, the excited crew of the aircraft (including both pilots who walked on board) and the meeting of the aircraft on landing by firefighters and emergency vehicles - all this led us to horror and, as a result, to unplanned purchases of alcohol in duty free.

After the second attempt to fly to Heraklion from Moscow on another plane, we came out just dead. First, the stress has not yet passed; secondly, we felt sorry for the lost first day of our vacation, because we were at the airport after 12 at night.
We were met by Manolis - the company "Kurkunis" (poor fellow, how long did he have to wait for us? ). We got along in a taxi, after 15 minutes we were at the hotel.
The first unpleasant surprise was that the air conditioner turned out to be paid : (
The second surprise was that there were fewer bedrooms than we expected. But the hotel is not to blame for this, this is already a mistake of the sending company in Perm. We just ordered two bedrooms, but it turned out to be one bedroom and a living room with a kitchen and an extra bed.
In general, I liked the hotel. We lived in an apartment with a sea view. It is really 20 meters to the sea, although it is a large pebble, but the view is simply awesome. At any time you can go to the terrace, have a cup of tea or coffee - a fairy tale! The furniture is new, the kitchen was even enough for cooking meat, fish and other dishes, the bed in the bedroom is large (this cannot be said about the extra space in the living room), there is a separate terrace at the exit from the bedroom, the toilet with a shower is also decent - all made of natural stone.
Sandy beach - 100-200 meters from the hotel. No sun loungers, no umbrellas, few people (local Greeks come here only on weekends) - lie where you want - beauty!
Do not count on free soap, shampoo and (attention! ) toilet paper. The owners of the hotel explain this by saying that Kritzas Apart is not a hotel. They position themselves as furnished apartments. There were no problems with water, but for drinking it is better to buy bottled water. Cleaned the room every day, linen and towels changed regularly.
Breakfast, of course, is not very diverse. But you can always eat in apartments or in taverns, of which there are plenty.
Lunches and dinners can also be arranged both in the room and in taverns (by the way, the portions there are very large, do not order several dishes - there is a chance that you will not be able to overpower it anymore).
In the early days we rented bicycles (800 meters from the hotel) - we rode around the surrounding area for a week. We ran in Gournes, Kato Gouves, Kokini Hani and even reached Gouves (a wonderful place not yet spoiled by tourists).
In the second week they took cars. First, through the guide - Citroen convertible. Ride just awesome, went to the east, looked at a bunch of interesting things. Then we took a Fiat from a hotel, went to Knossos, Rethymno, Bali, visited the southern coast, the Preveli Monastery (I recommend it !!! ), drove through the gorges - it’s simply indescribable. Traveling by car is the biggest holiday experience. And what beautiful landscapes on the island - yes, I just fell in love with Crete!
Tours were not taken. Traveling by car and a small supply of literature, reviews and recommendations is an excellent alternative to the same type and tedious excursions. The only thing - I wanted to visit Spinalonga, and, of course, Santorini. But this can be devoted to the next vacation.
In general, the hotel is quite decent. Located in a very quiet area between the tourist areas of Kato Gouves and Kokini Hani. I recommend for everyone who wants to dedicate their vacation to the beach, walks and travel.
