1. Pylea Beach Hotel.
Everything that was stated by the tour operator regarding the hotel is true.
The hotel is on the first line, 10 meters from the beach. To get there, you need to walk through the garden of the hotel, cross a narrow promenade, and here it is the beach. In time, the journey takes approximately 1-2 minutes. The hotel service is decent, no one is imposed, but your wishes are always fulfilled very quickly.
The rooms are clean, it can be seen that cosmetic repairs are regularly done, TV, refrigerator, telephone, air conditioning, hairdryer, safe - everything works properly. The beds are comfortable.
Cleaned well, towels honestly changed every day, bed linen - twice a week.
We only took breakfast. Every day the set is standard: different cereals, boiled and fried eggs, two types of cold cuts, cheese, feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, oatmeal porridge, muffins, tea, coffee, "juice" like zuko, milk. Everything is edible, although variety would not hurt (Now I don’t even want to look at eggs).
The hotel bar took a milkshake - very tasty!
The pool is always clean, does not smell strongly of bleach, there has never been any garbage at the bottom. The sun loungers by the pool are always free, you can also lie on the lawns under the palm trees. We never took sun loungers on the sea, we went swimming from the hotel.
The hotel is quiet, the animation from the neighboring hotel can be heard only during the day.
All rooms with sea view. One body is a direct view, the second is a side view. Entertainment, except for billiards, there is no. But behind them you can go outside the hotel. The place is very quiet.
Near the hotel there is a semblance of an aqua park.
2. Beach.
Sandy, but when entering the sea, large pebbles. On the shore about 1.5 meters and the same in the sea. We went in corrals, otherwise our legs hurt. Next is sand. Depth comes gradually. There are always waves! Paradise for athletes. With small children, it is somewhat annoying, because. sometimes even large men were knocked off their feet. But basically the wave was quite comfortable, swinging on it and jumping is also a joy.
3. Location.
It is 7 km from the airport (they spotted it on the speedometer). In principle, it is 1.5-2 kilometers to the declared village of Kremasti. In this place there is a group of hotels (there is only one three-ruble note, the rest are 4 and 5 *). There are supermarkets, taverns. I especially want to recommend Zorba's tavern. It is run by an elderly couple, the food is really homemade, the owner is just lovely. If you are interested, write, I will explain how to find it. There is live music and karaoke every evening in the Ideal cafe-bar near the supermarket. the guy is very good. True, we ran into the "musical numbers" of the Germans a couple of times - it's a disaster!! ! Fortunately for us, there were almost none of them, so it didn't happen often. I don't advise you to have lunch and dinner there, it's not very tasty. On the way to the village has a large supermarket "Proton", prices there are lower than near hotels, and there is more choice. The village itself is full of eateries and enough people.
4. And now fly in the ointment.
I'm talking about planes. In principle, they fly almost over the head, even people can be seen in the window. For me, who lives between two Moscow avenues, the planes did not cause any negative emotions. On the contrary, it's fun to watch them come over the sea to land. They fly well. And it happens at night, although not often. It is very unpleasant when ours fly, because. they are very huge, even the windows in the hotel cafe are trembling. They fly twice a week. It is useless to talk at this moment - nothing is heard. And the rest of the planes are an order of magnitude smaller, although the noise, of course, is still not bad. On the third day, we stopped noticing them at all. But there were people in the hotel who bounced on sunbeds when another plane flew. We were ready for this, so we did not experience the shock of the first plane.
5. A couple of words about the operator Natalie tour. The guide came to the hotel regularly, a very nice girl. We rented a car from the operator, because on the street they went around all the nearest rental offices - there are almost no cars (they explain that the season is) and more expensive. There are no complaints about the transfer, everything is clear, without delay.
In general, the holiday was a success. Rhodes is very beautiful, green, there is something to see, where to go. The island is small. So once is enough for me personally. I want to return to Crete (although we have been there more than once). Probably not here.
Have a good rest everyone.
What we could improve is to diversify the breakfast or change the menu every other day. The breakfast was good but ran out after 14 days.
Another nuance is that planes land at the airport above the hotel and this created some discomfort at the beginning, but then we got used to it, and with the balcony doors closed, almost nothing was heard at all.
We also express our gratitude to the grandfather from the RIO rental, next to the hotel. He gave us a Citroen C3 car at a price of 25 euros for 11 days, which corresponds to the price of a Fiat Panda. Plus, when we had to go to the airport and we asked if it was possible to return the car there, he said that he would take us there absolutely free of charge. And when he found out that we had a lot of things, he said that there were no problems, leave the car in the parking lot near the airport (leave the keys in the lock! ), And then he will pick it up himself.
1. Rhodes differs from continental Greece and from Crete by the combination of rather cool wind and strong sun. It is very easy to get mottled coloration in the form of sunburn. The sun is almost not felt, and when you feel it, it may be too late. It is best to sunbathe (early to mid-June) from 8 to 10 and from 17 to 20. At least in the early days.
2. The Pylea Beach Hotel is located on the upper coast (west, if I'm not mistaken). The Aegean Sea differs from the Mediterranean - in color (from milky white to blue), not so salty, the water is less transparent and warmer (but this is subjective). There is always a wave and not far from the hotel there are dedicated sections of the beach for kiteboarding and windsurfing. With a strong wind, you can watch the athletes - it's beautiful. If funds allow, you can practice. During the rest, we were on the other coast - the infrastructure is better developed there, there are more hotels and getting into the water is better - but there can also be a wave and it’s impossible to say that it’s calmer there. In principle, if you rent a car, you can go to different beaches.
But our 6-year-old child was not afraid of the waves and swam with us. There were days of almost absolute calm.
Descent into the water from large pebbles, it is better to take slippers for swimming. There are places where clean sand.
3. Next to Pylea Beach is the Blue Bay Hotel. A lot of people, you have to pay extra for many things, there are few Russians and the attitude of the staff towards them, let's say, is ambiguous. At best, they will be mistaken for Poles. In Pilea, either the owner's wife or his daughter-in-law Olya is Russian, and the attitude towards Russians is the most friendly. And patient. It all feels in contrast. The hotel is small, there are few staff and everyone works like bees. After 3-4 days, you almost know everyone. The room was cleaned well, the bed was changed daily, but I can’t say anything about the towels. they didn't get too dirty
4. Nutrition. We had included one breakfast, dinner for the money. It may not be as diverse as in Turkish hotels, but firstly, it’s still 3 *, and secondly, Europe, where it is considered that a croissant and coffee are a classic breakfast. Here the assortment was much larger, but maybe there were not enough pancakes and chocolate paste. Most importantly, everything was fresh and delicious. Well, to be honest, I did not rest in Turkish 3 *.
5. Sunbeds. On the beach - paid, but on the territory of the hotel - no. And the best place is under the palm trees. Close to the sea from the hotel.
6. Planes. They do not irritate and do not interfere with sleep. Moreover, it is perceived as an attraction, to consider liners coming in for landing in different colors. On TV, one channel was set to 1 Russian and the sound of the aircraft in the room was comparable to the sound of the TV. And it should be taken into account that the same planes on their way to landing fly over more stellar and much more expensive hotels, including those that are closer to the airfield.
7. Transport. Since we did not use the rental, public transport was the main one for us. From Pylea Beach to the bus stop is about 5-7 minutes. on foot. Fare is a rather murky topic. in one case we paid for the child, in the other we didn't. We could not find any rules or tariffs. Once the driver demanded to pay more. we paid him instead of buying a ticket at the box office, but when we asked for clarification from the administrator, the reason immediately changed (after he spoke to her in Greek). Left an unpleasant aftertaste. Transport is under control. Once, at the entrance of the controller, the driver interrupted the ticket and returned part of the money. It should be noted that all public transport goes through the bus station of Rhodes and it is impossible to drive directly from the west coast to the east and back.
8. Payment. Take cash. As I understand it, there is almost one bank and two ATMs in the village of Kremasti. In stores, bank cards are accepted almost everywhere, but in taverns there may be problems with communication or terminals. It is better to have 20-40 euros in cash for small purchases and paying for food in taverns.
I hope this information will be useful to you.
The area is small, but comfortable and cozy. Children are always in front of their parents when they rest by the pool on deck chairs or under palm trees in the shade. The sea is ten steps away. Shallow. There sunbeds are paid - 3 euros. The beach is sandy, but the entrance to the sea is pebbles, after 3 meters again sand. Egyptian slippers for swimming were very useful to us. The coast is windy compared to the Mediterranean, so when the surfers have a holiday, ordinary vacationers swim in the pool or drive to Falirakia in rental cars. Actually, the sea is always a little worried, but you quickly get used to it, as well as to the planes that fly overhead every now and then - the airport is 7 kilometers away.
The food is very good, I would say, at the level of food that is given in taverns. Breakfast, however, is standard and the same every day, but the dinner program changes every day during the week. Delicious. And tea and coffee are included in the dinner buffet.
About interesting things. We really liked the city of Rhodes itself, Lindos, of course, the Manolithos fortress on top of an impregnable cliff and the ancient city of Kamiros. A special place is Tsambika. The Upper Monastery of the Virgin Mary Tsambika on the top of the mountain: a place with amazing energy, as they say, blessed. Well, the view of the area is amazing. Then a beautiful lower monastery, where a miraculous icon is kept, healing from infertility. And the beach of the same name is very comfortable, beautiful, with soft sand, a gentle entrance and warm water. By the way, I want to recall one feature of the Greek public transport. It is impossible to drive directly through the mountains from one coast to another on a regular bus. You must first get to Rhodes and there you can already transfer to the bus to the right place. The stop is not far from the hotel, the price to Rhodes is 2 euros, 10 cents for an adult. Rhodes-Lindos 4.60 euros.
Food: breakfast - as in all three star hotels buffet - scrambled eggs, butter, sausage, jams, honey, rolls, tea, coffee, juice. In general, do not expect something beyond natural, but you will not stay hungry.
Dinner - buffet: vegetables, starters, soup, hot dishes and side dishes - be sure to try moussaka, stuffed peppers and keftedes. Everything is prepared by the hostess of the hotel Dina - very tasty!!! ! And yet, probably this is the only hotel where they give tea or coffee for free for dinner!
Hotel on the first line to the beach 20 steps. Beach - pebbles in a meter in the water begins the sand, the sea with waves, especially gentle ones buy slippers and go into the sea in them. Sun beds are paid - it is better to pay at the hotel bar, it is cheaper there than on the beach itself.
The hotel is very conveniently located away from the main road (its noise will not bother you), but if you need to go somewhere by bus for about 7 minutes on foot and you are at the bus stop and you can go. Buses run according to the schedule (it is at the reception) to the city it takes about 15 minutes to go approximately 2 euros, you can also drive to petaloudes (butterfly valley) from the hotel you can always take a walk to the neighboring village of Kremasti where you can buy fruit food sun cream and so on. The village has a very beautiful church with a miraculous icon.
With children in the evening, it’s good to go to neighboring hotels for a mini disco.
The only negative of the hotel is the planes flying over it, but you get used to them on the 2nd day. We had a small child of 3 years old with us - he didn’t notice the planes - when he was sleeping, and when he was on the beach - there was a wild delight !!!
I also surf and this place is a paradise for windsurfers and kiteservers! Near the hotel is one of the largest kite stations in Rhodes RHODOS AIR-RIDERS KITE PRO CENTER. It is very conveniently located on a long beach away from the places of swimming and sunbathing of ordinary people.
I always take a car and ride to the WINDSURFERS' WORLD station - there is a very good atmosphere and there are Russian-speaking instructors.
I strongly advise everyone to visit Rhodes and PYLEA BEACH in particular - its sincere atmosphere will not leave anyone indifferent!! ! Summer is coming, holidays and again Rhodes and again PYLEA BEACH!! !
