I am going to this hotel on 25.03 with a child.
I read the reviews - my brain exploded. Tell the truth. Who rested? How much money to take with you, what to do, where to go. Thank you all in advance.

A year ago, my wife's sister was in this hotel - she says that she basically liked it. The hotel is no frills, but if you go for the sake of the sea - it's fine.
We just returned from the Sol Y Mar Sharming Inn on March 7th, which is located near Virginia and uses the same beach. The beach (where they are taken by buses) is located between the Hilton Sharm Waterfalls and Renaissance Golden Viv Beach hotels, on the territory of the hotel under construction (the construction progress was not noticed when they were, so it did not cause discomfort). The beach has good corals and a lot of animals. But if you swim to the right or left along the reef line for 500 meters, then everything is much more beautiful there. From the hotel you can walk to Fantasy (Thousand and One Nights), by taxi for $ 2 you can go to the Old Town (Old Market) for souvenirs, fruits. I don't know if the bus takes you from Virginia to Naama - but you can also take a taxi there for $ 2.
And of course, excursions - wherever your heart desires (it's better not to buy at a hotel - if necessary, I can orient you at prices, I have kept all the advertisements for excursions). You need to take money according to how many excursions you want to visit, what to visit, what to buy from souvenirs.

I also wanted to go to Sol and Mar - but there are no places, so we are going to Virginia. I would be glad for any information. Thanks :))

Hello! I stayed at this hotel in October 2009! Personally, I liked everything! At the expense of food, I can say that it does not differ in almost any hotel! The food is adapted, so the child will have something to eat (potatoes, soups, vegetables, meat). The service at the hotel is excellent, everyone is polite and constantly smiling! All problems are solved immediately without reminders!
There is a bus from the hotel every hour to the beach, it is a very comfortable air-conditioned bus! A free bus also runs to Naama Bay in the evenings, but you need to pre-register!
The beach is very comfortable, there is a pontoon! But my recommendation is to immediately buy masks and snorkels when you arrive (there are shops near the hotel where you can buy 2 masks and 2 snorkels for 75 Egyptian pounds, most importantly, bargain and bring down the price by 2 times)!
Yes, speaking of money! You carry dollars with you, and at the airport you can change no more than 150 dollars for local pounds!
This is beneficial, because the dollar exchange rate is official and on the market is very different! And it is more convenient to pay for souvenirs with local currency!
About excursions! Definitely Pyramids! Nat. Ras Mahammed Park or a boat trip! And, if possible, Mount Moses! Have a nice rest!

Hello! I vacationed in Virginia at the end of January of this year. I liked everything, the beach is far away, but the bus is always on schedule and the sea is excellent there. I also liked the food, the rooms were always well cleaned. The location of the hotel is very convenient, as it is close to both Naama Bay and the old city and, accordingly, is not expensive ($2 each). In Naama Bay, discos, cafes and restaurants are better and cheaper in the old town. Have a nice holiday!

And I would advise you to buy masks, snorkels, fins at home (if you need them more than once). Of course, you can buy them in Sharm, but the quality is cheap China. And normal branded ones are more expensive than ours. We traveled in four, three had everything with them, and bought one in Sharm. We went around all the shops in Naama and the Old Market, as well as the market - I can say for comparison: Cressi fins (of a dubious manufacturer) cost 1.5 times more than we bought exactly the same, but really branded, at home. In general, the only store in Sharm where you can buy fins, masks, and, if necessary, a neoprene wetsuit (we bought) at a normal fixed price, as well as normal quality, is an equipment store, which is located near the Old Market, near the Metro store ( taxi drivers know where the Metro store is).
But then again - you are traveling with a child, and whether you need equipment (whether you will snorkel) depends on the age of the child.
Regarding excursions, I would highly advise you not to go with a child (if small) on long-distance excursions, especially to the Pyramids (8 hours one way). A very interesting excursion to Mount Moses, but extremely difficult - 3 hours on the road there, 4-5 hours

...continuation...
constant ascent to the mountain (on foot, at night with flashlights), then descent back (again on foot) and the way back (leave at 10 pm, return at 2-3 o'clock the next day).
Ras Mohamed and Tiran Island are especially interesting with diving (again, it depends on the age of the child).
I understand that you are going to Egypt for the first time. Indicate the age of the child, as well as how many more adults are traveling with you, and I can tell you in more detail about excursions and entertainment.
And do not worry about the little things - you will definitely enjoy the rest!
My wife and I flew for the first time to rest, with two children 1.5 and 2.5 years old - and got a lot of pleasure from the rest (although we didn’t get out of the hotel almost anywhere). Our eldest still remembers how interested he was in everything.

take money with you
enough for souvenirs/gifts
and on excursions (if you plan to go)
usually $300 per person is enough for us
still remains for purchases on the way back to duty free

Thanks to everyone for the info. I'm going alone. The child is 9 years old, though he does not swim very well.

rested in Virginia in November 2009, the hotel is nice, the food is tolerable, take water and something to eat on the beach, the bar is paid. We had camaras in the room, so take some funds just in case, we had to buy there ($11). Fruits can be bought in the old town ($2 by taxi)

Since you are traveling alone with a 9-year-old child, excursions to Mount Moses and the pyramids are definitely out of the question. Diving and quad bike safaris in the desert also disappear. Considering that on the beach the entrance to the sea is from the pantone - be sure to take the child an inflatable vest, mask and snorkel, as well as a mask and snorkel for yourself (fins will not be useful to you in this case) - then you can swim with the child next to the pantone, look at the fish. I strongly do not advise you to go into the sea from the shore, because. sea urchins and stars hide in the pits, and stepping on them is fraught with ...
You can take a boat trip to Ras Muhamed (without diving) - at the stops you can also swim with a mask and snorkel, there are very beautiful reefs and fish.

How did you rest?
Did you like it? Will you go to Egypt again? Did you snorkel?
аватар annacheff
Thanks, have a good rest! We will definitely go to Egypt. We swam with a mask, and if you don’t swim, why else would you go? Everything is very beautiful (under water). All in Egypt....

Nice to read!
From the bottom of my heart I will advise Mars Alam hotels next time - untouched corals, though a little more expensive, but it's worth it.
