Keep in mind, when you finally get to your room, after an 11-18 hour flight with the only thought - to take a shower .....you will be very upset if you do not find towels in the room! After you find the staff and show your indignation on your fingers (the staff does not understand English), you will have to wait another 1-3 hours until the towels are brought to you. Don't get mad about it, just dry off with the orange beach towels provided in the room.
During the whole rest, you will find the loss of towels 3-4 more times - you come, the room is not cleaned, and one or two towels are missing.
This is not accurate, but I think if you leave a daily tip of $ 2, then the issue can be resolved. I stopped leaving tips when I started noticing missing towels.

And it's sad that the guides and employees of tour companies, in search of profit, discredit the image of the beautiful Dominican people and the country itself in the eyes of tourists.

I myself rented a car at a local establishment, ate chebureks in a cheburek on the street, went to night bars where only locals hang out, was CAM at a local guy’s house, in the blackest quarter of the Dominican Republic, rode around the city at night, was in a supermarket, played at the casino, etc. I am alive, healthy and very happy.
The first time we rented a car from a Russian company, they charged us $85 for the Hyundai Sonata and blocked $300 on the card as a deposit for a month. The second time we took a Kia Optima from a local for $ 50, a passport as a pledge. Everything went perfectly, although they were explained on the fingers. Savings - 40%!!!
First, we drove by car to nearby places, such as Macau beach, a mountain with a swing, some kind of park.

Not the usual chanson or English language, but real live Latin American music - this atmosphere cannot be conveyed in words.
The first time I, a pale gringo, left the hotel, I was surrounded by local motorcycle bombers. Everyone has the same offer - taxi, coca, chica, marivanna ?? ? And you freeze one, the second one comes right behind him, and so on until everyone comes up ..... At first it was annoying, then, when I darkened, became familiar, they stopped coming up to me. It is important to understand that they do this not because they are criminals, but because they are!!!
Almost every janitor or building administrator will offer you a local service in a whisper - coke, chica, marivanna. If you decide to take them, keep in mind that the price for coke will be announced to you starting from $80, although you can take it on the street for $20-25. The quality of the coke on the whole island sucks, there's no need to be under any illusions. The grass is really good, who loves.
If you decide to take something like that, it’s better from a person who rubs near the hotel’s barrier, he works there, which means he won’t throw you. Be sure to bargain to the last. It is better to buy girls in brothels (here they are allowed), since the employees of these institutions have local certificates)).
Let me summarize!
When we gathered in the Dominican Republic, everyone told us that we would like it. When we arrived, we were not imbued with either the hotel or the service. But then…. Every day we were covered by this cool Latin American atmosphere, an everlasting sense of adventure. It was a pleasure to get to know this country and its people. We were given a room in building 12 on the 3rd floor. They took us to the building, brought the suitcases. The room was large, nice, renovated. The room has a huge bed, 2 sofas, shower, mirrors, wardrobe, hair dryer, iron, coffee maker, air conditioning, fan, table and chairs on the balcony. Everything is as described on the sites. The view from the 3rd floor is good and no one will look into the windows)) In general, everything suited us, they did not change anything.
It seemed to me that the maid never changed the bed... This is of course a minus. Cleaning is not perfect... Although we left a tip . . But there were a lot of towels, both large and small. There was also a gel, shampoo and conditioner. there was enough drinking water. Beer was brought only 1 or 2 times and then at our request. But we didn’t suffer much from this, because. almost never sat in the room.

We have chosen this hotel many times, and each time we liked this one, then this one. And this time we decided to choose Occidental and now we understand that the choice was excellent. I'll start with the most important thing for me, from the beach. Most fly to the Dominican Republic because of the divine and unique beaches of this island. The beach is wonderful. Algae is cleaned every day, so the cleanliness is perfect. The water is crystal clear, the waves are pleasant, there have never been huge ones. But at the same time, it's nice to jump on the waves. The beach is very beautiful, there are no umbrellas, and this is another plus. Everything looks close to natural conditions. There are more than enough beds. Although the beach is not very big, there were always enough places, and the sunbeds were not crowded. They didn’t go over each other’s heads, there was enough free personal space. The territory is also a fairy tale. There are many palm trees and greenery, there is a lake with living creatures, turtles, fish, ducks. Several pools, three to be exact. Bars are at almost every step, you can have a bite to eat and drink any cocktail or just a cup of coffee, by the way, very tasty. They did not buy additional VIP services, and they made the right decision. What food, what alcohol is of the highest quality, and with a simple choice of a tour, I think you should not overpay, but it's up to you to decide. A room with a huge king size bed, there is a lot of space, enough for a family, but for the two of us, it’s generally excellent. There is also a lot of space for things, a safe, an iron and ironing board, a coffee maker, a mini-bar, shower accessories, everything changed every day, or was reported. Cleaning is excellent, every day, beach towels are immediately in the room and you can change them all day and as many times as you want. The food didn't disappoint either. In addition to the main restaurant, as I already wrote, you can eat almost anywhere in the hotel at any time, even late at night or early in the morning. Immediately upon arrival, we signed up for a la carte restaurants, you can visit them once. Steakhouse and Seafood are real favourites, although the others are just as good. . In total, the main restaurant lacked meat and vegetables in any form immeasurably, less fruit and seafood, and that was every day. Alcohol and other drinks are also unlimited. In this case, you can say for sure that they are pouring like a river. The only drawback is the lack of free internet, only for a fee, but we knew about it, so we were not very upset, at least we had a rest without phones)). The staff is not particularly in a hurry, and this is also worth considering, everything is a bit slow, but it is done with high quality. In general, the hotel is superb. And most importantly, the beach where you want to spend the rest of your life)))).
