I won’t talk about the flight - everyone has different carriers anyway.
We got to the hotel in the evening, around eight. Issued quite quickly, the porter was cheerful.
I note - drunk guest workers built the hotel, not a single flat road, except for two serving ones. Paths paved with red stones stray so that it is virtually impossible to find the right house without a "susanin" - even on maps that are every hundred meters, it's hard to understand - and half of the bungalows are not marked. Plus, they don't really light up. And since the houses are also the same, with a difference only in the statues at the entrance, you can walk past the one you need three times without finding it.
On a cheerful porter, all the joy of the arrival ended.
Settled on the first floor, and the room was terrible.
The shower did not work, the hose was simply torn off, the drain in the bathroom was clogged. When turned on, the electric kettle spat boiling water and gave out brown water - most likely someone thought of warming up the cooled coffee. The safe didn't work and the fridge didn't close. But the air conditioner worked, thanks. In the dark and in frustrated feelings, we went to dinner, but got a little lost. In general, somewhere on the third day you already orient yourself well, but in the dark I could turn the wrong way for another week.
After eating, we stomped to the reception, where we were promised to fix everything. Yes, do not change the number, but fix it. Here I would like to note the broad soul of the Dominicans. Reading reviews about this country, I always liked how they spoke about these eternally dancing, cheerful, friendly people. So far, I have associated only Sri Lankans with such a description - smiling but unobtrusive good-natured people who will always help. The reality about the Dominicans turned out to be much more prosaic.
They don't have their heads in the clouds, and they don't smile when you go to a meeting. They are just lazy. If you interfere with their rest, communicate with the staff, if you ask them to do the work that they do not want to do, but must, they will look dissatisfied for a long time duuumaaat and for a long time neckeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! And this applies to everyone - the boys at the reception, bartenders, waiters, cleaners, etc.
They changed our room only the next day, but there was no kettle in the new room. Well, okay, we thought, the main thing here it is - rest. But...
Due to a meeting with the guide and a change of room, we got to the beach around ten. This is not Turkey, we thought naive, there is no need to take sunbeds at seven in the morning. But in fact, at ten there was not a single free sunbed on the beach, as well as umbrellas. I had to lie down on towels in the shade of a palm tree. And the shadow from the palm tree is very insidious, here it is, and it is no longer there, move two meters.
In general, the biggest disadvantage of this hotel is the ill-conceived infrastructure and bottlenecks. Few sunbeds. Even fewer umbrellas. But our people do not lose heart, and climb under the already occupied umbrellas. And it is ours. A married couple with three young children once sat down with us, and then they snorted that my husband dared to smoke close to their children. Well, okay, that's their problem. We, taking into account the joys of the first day, occupied sunbeds at half past seven - they fell just at sunrise and the cleaners. Somewhere around seven, the sunbeds closest to the bars and toilets were occupied, at eight there were no more free ones. And yes, this is not Turkey, your things without supervision can go into the pockets of enterprising Haitians.
There are four toilets on the beach. All. For all 4 hotels, for 4 thousand people, there are 4 toilets, three cabins each, in which they clean for an hour four times a day. Outcome - queues. Alternative - run half a kilometer to the number or the sea)))
There are about 5 showers on the beach.
While the showers are flattery, they are actually a faucet pole. The result is a queue. There is only one bartender in the bar. The result is a queue. At breakfast one pancake master. Burritos at one dinner in an ordinary restaurant became the final, complete collapse of deliberation and finito la vacation comedy - there were 3 people in line, each took two burritos, and when 40 minutes later the line approached me, I was very happy with the girl who, at a speed snails filled the cakes with three ingredients. And yes, the burrito was cold.
Although the food is the only thing that really pleased. Fresh fresh juices for breakfast - carom, pineapple, banana, lime with celery, multivitamins. Two racks of omelettes, one of pancakes.
Various meats - beef, chicken, turkey, pork. But there are few fish. There were king prawns only once in two weeks. No crabs, lobsters, mussels.
Fruits are familiar - apples, bananas, pineapples, tangerines, mangoes, oranges, pomegranates, peaches, but there were also unusual ones - passion fruit, guava, carom, papaya) There was always rice, potatoes, there was a separate rack for spaghetti.
Each table has a card, green on one side and red on the other. Come and turn it over with the red side, which means that the table is occupied.
All drinks are brought by waiters.
During lunch, the main restaurants do not work - restaurants on the beach work. We found two of them. And the queues for food in them are constant, regardless of the time of visit. But the gazpacho is delicious.
A la carte restaurants are also good. Since we rested for a long time, we went to almost every one. I really liked the restaurant with the Show Chef, although we stood in line for an hour, Spanish, in a meat restaurant they wear different types of meat until you put a red sign that you are full. But here the dress code is no shorts and pareos.
In the bars, pina colada made from "snow", cubalibra is chic, mojito is a bit sweet ...
And mamahuana is generally lovely, but it’s better not to take it home, it’s not the same in stores as in bars.
The Sports Bar is open around the clock, there is pizza, two types of salads, burritas, tacos, chips, nuggets. You can eat, but you don't have to.
The hotel itself is huge. We even went to the so-called closed part, THE ROYAL SUITES 5*. Nobody drove us out of there. Their beach is fenced from the side of the hotel - there are other sunbeds.
The SPA zone turned out to be very pleasant, there is a long pool with different types of hydromassage. The break is not very convenient, from 13 to 15. Also a rather pleasant place is Bar Hemingway, they don’t smoke there, there are tables for card games, and in the evenings the guy plays the piano. But it's only open in the evening.
It is better not to go to the gym, the smell of burnt rubber and old simulators are not encouraging. We sometimes heard animation, but did not see it.
Due to the large size of the hotel, a train goes there. And although they say that the train runs every 15 minutes, we did not notice this.
We didn’t ride even once - I didn’t want to stand in line.
A separate paragraph to the ocean. How much I have heard about golden beaches and blue water. Nice color, yes. But near the shore the water is muddy - the sand rises. And you can’t sail further, thirty meters away there are buoys, for which it is forbidden to swim because of lovers of scooters and windsurfing.
Somewhere in the middle of the vacation, my husband and I decided that if we don’t spoil our vacation ourselves, no one will. And they began to turn a blind eye to the cons, and just relax. But I will tell anyone who is going to this hotel - this hotel is not worth the money they charge for it. The staff is lazy and rude, rooms with broken plumbing and a centimeter layer of dust on the closet, the beach is cramped and not equipped for such a number of hotel visitors. And you can eat delicious food at home in restaurants, much cheaper.
Pros - food, spa area, Hemingway bar. Three unfortunate flamingos. Turtles.
Cons - Queues, staff, "get up on vacation at seven, borrow sunbeds" game, rooms, infrastructure, yes thousands of them! ! !
: ) After landing, we see a cheerful airport in the local style, such as huts covered with palm leaves, but then, when all almost 400 people start to break and push towards the stoics, it’s a little sad, well, it doesn’t last long, the whole passage through the arrivals area, if not crowd, it would take a maximum of 5 minutes, it includes a payment of $ 10, a passage of 50 meters showing a check, a stamp in the passport and getting luggage : ) what they said where and which bus to get on, waited about fifteen minutes for everyone to gather and set off on a journey that lasted about an hour, although we drove a maximum of 30 kilometers, due to the fact that our hotel (Grand Palladium Punta Cana) was appointed fourth in the queue of races , and each race was slowed down for 15 minutes. But it's not scary in front of the rest and only positive!
From the bus window, except for a narrow path, and forest thickets, there is almost nothing interesting.
I’ll start with the Grand Palladium Punta Cana hotel, I would give the hotel no more than 4, but in general, the most important thing is what room and where it is located, we purchased the cheapest promo - and we did the right thing, because for $ 100, after a short trade that began with 280 dollars, we were given a room in the fourth building on the second floor 4128 and as it turned out later this hotel is one of the best options.
The room, of course, is not new, but not absharpanny, as I read a lot where ... , everything worked, the content: a jacuzzi, a shower, a double bed, a normal TV, a safe, a coffee maker, a hairdryer, an iron, an ironing board, a balcony ...in general, everything that is needed and even more ...they clean every day well, regardless of whether there is a tip or not, the minibar is replenished every day, but the cleaning time from day to day sometimes varied from 8-10 in the morning, during this period we had breakfast and sat on the Internet at the reception.
Or in the afternoon at 2 o'clock. In this beautiful country, we met three couples from Russia, Ira and Michael, Igor and Tanya from Nizhny Novgorod and Zhenya and Olya from Moscow (huge hello to all of them! ) We visited their rooms - this is the Palace, the neighboring building Punta Cana, they have about the same thing, the main thing is that everything worked and everyone was happy with everything. Well, then the rest itself ....!!!
That's great!! ! The ocean, something indescribable, I advise everyone to go there! Especially who doesn’t like intense heat… there is always a comfortable temperature, and even if it gets a little hot, you can always swim in the refreshing ocean (water t 22-24) in winter, but as the locals say in summer from April t 25-27, it doesn’t happen anymore, but again, who loves warm water 28-30 is not here. Of the 14 days, there were a couple of cloudy ones and it rained almost every night, but by 10 in the morning nothing reminded of it.
The food, in principle, without any frills, but very good, there were days when our restaurant (“buffet” or dining room, as we later began to call them) did not have a very large assortment, but we did not despair, went to the next one and there was always excellent assortment even before closing, and vice versa ...In general, for breakfast everything is like everywhere else, eggs in any form, cereals, cereals .. , vegetables, fruits (not a very large selection and not super tasty - relative to Thailand, but very much even nothing ..
), and dry champagne a couple of days a week, I already knew what evening I could turn on alcohol, because in the morning my health would be improved ...J Lunches are also without anything special, a couple of types of meat, not always fried, chicken cutlets, side dishes, pizzas, pastas ...soups, ice cream, cakes ...Well, in the evening it’s already more interesting, either themed evenings in the same canteens, or a la carte, I’ll say right away not what to do in Marenostrum, but the rest are worth a visit, Japanese is not very bad, there is a chef's show, and it's not bad anyway. Brazilian, they feed only meat there, it’s not bad, and most importantly, everything is delicious and fried. J, Chinese is not bad, seafood is on the coast in Bavaro. You can have a snack around the clock in the sports bar near the Bavaro reception. In general, you definitely should not leave hungry! Unless, of course, you are super-duper gourmets ...then you need to look for a hotel at least 40 thousand more per person.
Remember that in principle, this hotel is not a bad four, although it says 5! From entertainment on site, everything that is written in the description of the hotel on any site. In the evening there are various events in the amphitheaters, such as the show of the stars, Michael Jackson, this is what I advise you to watch, the disco until 2 am. There is live music in the lobby every evening . . It is worth noting their music of bachata, merengue, regeton . . (Aventura, Don Omar, Zacarias Ferreira ... ) fun, simple, not forcing ...everything for relaxation J Tranquilo - in Spanish, relax, somehow so if I didn't mess anything up. Cocktails are not bad in the Hemingway bar on the territory of Bavaro, for me I’m not a particularly lover and understanding of cocktails, in all other bars I was satisfied with alcohol, the main thing is to explain what and with what in what proportions to mix.
Regarding the service, I did not notice any slowness and neglect without tips, everything is quite dignified and fast, with a smile and sometimes dancing and singing , since I myself saw how dudes, just for the fact that they poured a cocktail and gave them 5 and 10 dollars, maybe of course they have wagons of money, but I think this is not so, just pathos ...and you can give 1 dollar and then when to something has already been brought to your table a couple of times and they understand you well what you need, everything else is worthless show off. There are few Russian people in the hotel, 10-15 percent of the total number of vacationers, respectively, the Russian language, except for a couple of three expressions, they don’t know, but they’re already trying to remember something, it’s better to know English, of course, and best of all, at least a little Spanish, but you can even without a language .
Internet (Wi-Fi) in the lobby is free, but when there are many who wish, the speed is not very good, and sometimes even 0. Sunbeds on the beach, and we almost always just lay there for days, it’s better to take it until 8.30 later, there may not be places with shade, for us this was not a problem, because we lived near the beach and we have a difference with our homeland of 13 hours J we always woke up at 7 o'clock, and at first it was generally at 3 am, and it was cut down at 9 pm. In general, the sunbeds themselves can always be found without problems. Trading people on the beach did not bother much, if not interested, just refuse and they immediately leave. If you meet Sasha, he usually offers fishing near the pool in Punta Cana, say hello, he speaks Russian quite well, and in general a cool guy ...J Regarding excursions, we went to the capital of Santo Domingo with an awesome guide Antonina (Tez Tour ) she has been living in the Dominican Republic for 33 years, so her stories were very interesting and informative, I advise everyone!
Then we drove ATVs - nothing special, snake one after another at low speed, but I want to drive L, but I don’t advise you on buggies, you will be in the mud from head to toe. Other excursions are Saona, Samana…. we left next time J Well, everything that I wanted to tell seems to be. I advise everyone to visit this wonderful country! I recommend Palladium hotels. There will be questions, ask ask, I will be glad to tell you what I know.
The Palladium complex includes four hotels: Bavaro, Palace, Punta Cana and Royal Suites Turquesa. The territory is common and you can use the bars, swimming pools and restaurants of the entire complex, except for the territory of Turkeza and the a la carte Royal Gourmet restaurant (it is only for Turkeza guests). A train runs throughout the complex (from 10.00 to 2.00), it stops only at stops, so it is useless for him to shout and wave his hands)). Cars are still driving, they stop where you say. From the living creatures on the territory of the hotel you can find chickens, ducks, flamingos, fish, turtles in the ponds.
Number:
The most convenient in terms of proximity to the ocean, reception and restaurants 2000.3000 and 4000 buildings. I advise you to settle in the 4000 building, as it is the newest of them! We moved into it from 2000 and immediately felt the difference: in 4000 rooms as in the advertising photos of the hotel (a jacuzzi is right in the room, a separate bathroom with a shower and a toilet, bathrobes and slippers in the closet, a safe, a stocked mini-bar with Pepsi, Fanta , sprite, beer and water, there is also an ironing board and iron, coffee maker, hair dryer), there were no bathrobes and slippers in the 2000 building, there was no shower cabin either, instead there was a jacuzzi in the bathroom, a toilet, a sink, there was a one bottle of cola. There was a damp smell even though we had a third floor. All the time there was an incomprehensible knock-buzz. At first we thought about air conditioning and a refrigerator, but it turned out they had nothing to do with it. All buildings experience a problem with water pressure, this is especially noticeable during peak hours (before lunch and dinner), when all the people wash after the beach. In general, we decided to move to another building. At the reception they said that there were no places in building 4000, and in 3000 it would be only in two days: (But when they saw the money, they immediately found a free room in building 4000))
Cleaning daily, mini-bar is also replenished every day. Of course, there were failures when, instead of three towels, they put us only one, and when we asked for more, they brought us 3 pillows : ))) The door in our closet was very difficult to open, so it took 3 days to get repaired)) Once they came to the room before dinner, climbed to wash, lathered, and they had an accident and ran out of water)))) Of course, these are all the little things that caused us more laughter than irritation : )
Restaurants:
There are two buffet restaurants on the territory of Punta Cana - La Uva (an open restaurant near the beach) and Las Torres (near the reception). We preferred to have breakfast and lunch at a beach restaurant, and for dinner we went to a restaurant on the territory of Bavaro - Catedrel. In general, the restaurant of the Bavaro hotel seemed to us the best in terms of assortment and comfort. For example, the number of fresh juices for breakfast in the restaurants of our hotel was 3-5 options, and in Bavaro up to 12 items. There are about six types of ice cream to choose from, but ours only has two. Also in Bavaro they cooked pancakes for breakfast, but we don’t : ( Lunch is the same everywhere. Dinner in Bavaro is also much better and more varied.
In general, the food was not bad at all: for breakfast in each of the restaurants there were omelettes that are cooked in front of you with ingredients of your choice, pancakes, oatmeal, eggs, sausages, muesli, sliced cheeses and sausages, cucumbers, tomatoes, salads, sweets , fruits (watermelons, melons, papaya, pineapple, mangoes, apples, bananas, sometimes tangerines, passion fruit), freshly squeezed juices, etc.
Sometimes they gave champagne for breakfast.
For lunch, there was only one soup (vegetable, seafood, chicken, peas, etc. - different every day) For lovers, daily tomato gazpacho soup with options for ingredients (crackers, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions).
Theme dinners: Spanish, Italian, Dominican, Mexican, Japanese, Mediterranean, gala evening. The food corresponds to the theme of the evening, so there was sushi, and jamon, and king prawns, paella, fajitas, mussels and much more))) Although, as we heard from compatriots who dined not in Bavaro, like we did, but on the territory of our they didn’t see a hotel, jamon and shrimp there, and the choice of sushi was clearly smaller, so you definitely need to dine at Bavaro! Before entering the restaurant, drinks are offered according to the theme of the evening. For example: tequila, mama juana, sangria, sake : ) On one of the dinners in Bavaro (I don’t remember exactly which one), a group of musicians walked around the restaurant and sang at each table (very nice : )))
On all tables in restaurants there are cards, green on one side, red on the other. If you came to eat, you just need to turn the card over with the red side up so that everyone knows that the table is occupied and you can safely go to pick up food.
24/7 food and drink is only available at the Bavaro Sports Bar directly opposite the lobby.
The Palladium complex has 7 a la carte restaurants. Three of them next to Punta Cana are Brazilian (the most popular in turn), Japanese and Italian. There are four more on the territory of Bavaro. We were only in two - Italian and Mexican. I liked Italian better. Although everywhere it takes a very long time to prepare an order. It seemed that during the cooking time you could have time to have dinner in an ordinary restaurant and even have time to get hungry : ) Everyone who wants to dine in these restaurants forms a live queue. Everyone is given something like a pager, and when it starts blinking and beeping, then the table is free and you can go! We saw people who only at 22.00 walked with a blinking pager, although they got in line at 19.30! We were lucky all the time, because we came early (18.30-18.45) and there were free tables all the time))
Beach:
White sand, palm trees, umbrellas, sun loungers, hammocks, a warm, azure ocean, what can I say? ! The beauty!! ! There were days when there were a lot of algae on the shore in the morning, but by 10 in the morning they were all removed, it happened that after lunch the algae floated in the water, but there were also days when the water was crystal clear! The coastline at Punta Cana is the most successful, in comparison with other hotels in the complex. Entry into the water is smooth, the depth is not near the shore. We didn’t see a storm, although there were waves for a couple of days, but they are more like children’s, you won’t drown in such) There is no living creatures in the water, only a little to the right along the beach there is a small underwater rock where a small flock of fish gather) On the shore we saw small crabs and lizards.
The first days we, finally reaching the sun, did not even think about taking a place in the shade! Then everyone burned down together (although they were smeared with 20 SPF) and moved under an umbrella : ) I want to warn you right away, people take the best places under umbrellas on the beach and by the pool from 6 in the morning! By seven in the morning it may turn out that there is nothing to choose from! For us, of course, it was not a problem! All Russians, because of the time difference, easily got up at six!
On the beach every day they laid a table with snacks: hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. The beach bar is open from 10.00 to 17.00. Pool bar until 18.00.
Wedding ceremonies were held almost every day on the beach. The design was different every time, but always very beautiful! In addition to the beach ceremony, the ceremony could be held in the gazebo in the garden, but most were done on the beach.
Animators are doing a great job! Beach dancing, Pilates, aqua aerobics, then competitions, beach football, volleyball begin at 10 am. You can rent a kayak or mask, snorkel and fins for free ($20 deposit). There are windsurfing and catamarans, but if you don't know how to use them, you will have to pay for the lesson first! They ride on a banana and on a parachute.
Several times a week, in the morning, local workers knock coconuts off palm trees on the beach and in the garden, and cut off excess branches. You can come up and ask for a coconut. They will open it and you can enjoy the coconut milk) We then came up to have it cut in half and eat the pulp) Sometimes coconuts are handed out at the beach bar, but not often and there are not enough of them!
Locals go there from time to time and offer guided tours. We did not take from them, so I can not say about the price-quality. Often they go with a monkey, parrots, a snake : )) They offer to take a picture. Photos can be taken in the evening in front of the restaurant in Bavaro. One photo - $10.
For children:
Since we were with a child, we were primarily interested in the issue of children's leisure. We can safely say that there is everything you need for children: cribs in the room (from cradles to full-fledged sofas), high chairs in restaurants, you could always find boiled vegetables, steamed fish and chicken, etc. Next to the 2000 building there is an excellent mini-club with swings, houses, slides, a sandbox, big chess, a room for video games and table entertainment! There is a club for older kids next to the Bavaro lobby. Once a week, animators take children to Manati Park (a park with animals not far from the hotel) for free. There, children watch shows of dolphins, seals, horses and parrots)) At 20.30 in the Sunset amphitheater next to the Bavaro lobby, children's animation begins - dances and contests. one evening, the kids who went to the mini-club prepared a whole show program with a parody of world stars (Shakira, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé , Michael Jackson... ) They were moved and amused to tears !!
Evening entertainment:
The evening program starts at 22.00, but we have never sat through it ((Although I know the topics vaguely: a circus show, the election of Mr. and Miss Hotel, parody shows, karaoke evening, Harley Davidson show... There are two amphitheatres, a nightly program in them different.
There is live music every day in the Bavaro and Palace lobby after dinner. The lobby of our hotel is the most deserted, since we don’t have music every day and not as long as in others.
Bavaro has a disco next to the Sunset Amphitheater. We have not been there, but they also organize themed parties, for example, "tequila night")) Once there was a beach party, which we also could not attend ((
Shopping:
There are several mini-markets on the territory of Palladium. One is next to our hotel, the second is next to the Bavaro lobby. The prices there are outrageous! We bought goods in a Russian shop, which is located on the coast, if you look at the ocean, then you need to go to the right to the end of Palladiuma, there are a number of small shops along the coast. The Russian is the last in this row, in front of him is a large sign "we speak Russian. " Prices are fixed, but in my opinion not high. Coffee -3.5$, Barcelo imperial rum - $20, brugal -$15. For comparison, in the mini-market and the airport coffee - $ 9, imperial - $ 45! We took a free taxi for shopping, but even in the store where we were brought coffee was $5, imperial $21.
Excursions:
You don’t travel much with a child, so we were only in the manati park, and swimming with dolphins in the Animal Advance park. Both excursions are rather weak and interesting only for small children. And swimming with dolphins for $ 109 per person turned out to be a banal photo session of the whole group in turn with a dolphin, standing on a platform knee-deep in water. And then they still rip off a lot of money from you for photos and videos! You still have to take it, since you can’t take pictures and shoot yourself; (
We took a photo session with a tour operator. $360 for 300 frames. All processed in Lightroom, top five in Photoshop (we did 15). Plus a transfer to Macau Beach, where the shooting took place. Organization of FD Studio. Owned by our Russian photographer, but Colombian Santiago took pictures of us : ) Charming boy))) The maestro himself takes pictures for $ 860! The number of frames is correspondingly larger. I looked at his website, where prices are $ 60 cheaper, so it makes sense to negotiate directly, and not through a tour operator. The hotel also offers a photo session, but the prices are more expensive.
In general, the holiday turned out to be very positive! This was our second trip to the Dominican Republic! We never regretted that we returned! And we'll be back again!
I liked the hotel right away. It was not the most expensive of the proposals under consideration, there were hotels much more expensive, but this hotel did not disappoint us. Firstly, its very big plus is a large territory. Even more correct to say huge. For 12 days, they did not bypass everything. The complex consists of three hotels plus a VIP hotel Royal Suites. The territory and all infrastructure is common to all hotels of the complex, except for the services of the Royal Suites. They have a couple of restaurants and bars of their own that guests of other hotels are not allowed to enter. But there is enough to go without them. A steam locomotive runs around the complex. If you don’t want to walk (although it’s also not so far, about 15 minutes to the Bavaro Hotel), then you can get anywhere by train in a couple of minutes.
We lived in the 2000 building. There are euro sockets but the voltage is 110 volts! If you need an adapter, they are sold in any store on the territory of the complex. There were no problems with accommodation. We had a deluxe promo room booked. This is how we found out later the most basic rooms are not with the best location. At first we were settled on the first floor, it is very damp there. At the reception, without any problems, within half an hour we were changed to a room on the third floor, since there were no second ones, for a not very large additional fee. They have these rooms with ocean view and they charge $15 for that. per day extra. We changed for half the price and plus another on the trail. day the satisfied manager of the reception gave us a gift - a bottle of rum and fruit. A trifle but nice.
The rooms are good. As for the interior and decoration, in Turkey and Egypt, the rooms looked richer in good hotels. But we don't really bother with it. Since we spend little time in the room. Yes, the rooms are not very new. But literally on the second day you don’t pay attention to it, they are spacious and the room has everything you need, including an iron with an ironing board and a coffee machine. It is very convenient. You get up before dawn, drink your morning coffee on the terrace and go to the beach. Mini bar (beer, cola, fanta, sprite and drinking water) is replenished every day, as well as coffee and tea.
The bathroom has a jacuzzi, there are all the necessary accessories, even disposable razors. There are rooms with a jacuzzi in the room, this is for romantics or honeymooners. Room cleaning is good and thorough. Towels are changed every day. It is true that tips do not affect the quality of cleaning. Either way, it'll be good. We left but not every day. A couple of times they made beautiful figurines out of towels. Another distinctive feature of cleaning there is that every day the bathroom is decorated with freshly picked beautiful red flowers.
People leave the books they read in the lobby, so if you forgot the reading, you can always find something to read. There were many books and magazines in Russian.
The hotel itself and the entire complex are located in a tropical garden with coconut palms. You can ask the gardener and he will pick and cut a fresh coconut for you for $1.
The food is just great. Very varied and very tasty. They have no shortage of restaurants. We did not have time to visit all the restaurants during our stay. A very good restaurant near the pool and the beach for breakfast and lunch. From our building we went straight to the restaurant, and there you are almost on the beach. Very comfortably. For dinner, we went to the main restaurant of the Bavaro Hotel, there is much more choice. Or in A la Carte restaurants. Were 2 times in Japanese, there is a menu, sushi or chef's show, but you have to sign up for it at 6 pm the same day. They cook very tasty food there, and the menu and the chef's show really liked it. I also recommend the Spanish restaurant, very tasty and refined. We celebrated my husband's birthday there and were very pleased. Also were in Brazilian and Mexican. Brazilian is very tasty and interesting to visit. First you take a snack buffet, then the meat service begins. Several types of grilled meat and fish are worn on large skewers in turn. They offer until you turn the card on the table to the red side. This means that you will no longer be meat. Then they bring a menu with desserts. Mexican food is good too, Mexican food well cooked but many of it spicy. But for children there is a separate menu. In general, in this hotel you can find dishes for every taste. They even have a Russian salad (like Olivier) and by the way it's very good. All types of meat - pork, veal, chicken; fish, seafood, cooked in different forms - and stewed and fried and baked, whatever your heart desires. The Bavaro Hotel has a themed menu for dinner every day - Italian, Spanish, Dominican, International, etc. kitchens. There are always several types of pizza (very tasty) in all restaurants for lunch and dinner.
Freshly squeezed juices for breakfast, and which ones are papaya, pineapple, banana, watermelon, melon, mix, and even vegetable juices. They are in decanters, we did not immediately notice them. In addition, the machines also have good juices, orange, and a couple of other types, not Jupi! Coffee is poured by the waiters, the coffee is also very tasty. There was no champagne (as read in the reviews before the trip) for breakfast!
Fruits - watermelons, melons, papayas, mangoes, passion fruit, pineapples. Wine for lunch and dinner is poured from bottles, the wine is very good, Chilean dry, red and white. Very tasty beer. I really liked the service in the restaurants. I didn’t have time to go to the restaurant, they will immediately come to you, set the table if there are more people, offer drinks. Always full of free tables in restaurants, everything is always clean, covered and cleaned. At the entrance to restaurants, hands are treated with an antibacterial liquid.
Ala Carte restaurants are also not a problem to get into. There is no pre-registration (except for the Japanese on the chef's show). If you arrive before half past seven in the evening, you can always sit down immediately. If there are no free tables, they give a pager that will light up when a table is free. Usually you wait no more than 30-40 minutes. During this time, you can go to the bar, drink a cocktail. Everything they have in this regard is very thought out, no hype and flea market. Please note that there is a dress code for dinner in restaurants, trousers or Bermuda shorts are required for men, shorts are not allowed.
Lobby bars make delicious cocktails. Very popular and also delicious cocktails with rum, mojito, banana mama, pina colada. There is live music in the lobby in the evenings every day.
On the beach there are kiosks with drinks and the same cocktails. There is no bar as such to sit at a table, you take drinks to the beach.
There is a kids club and a teens club (called Black and White). The second one saved us a lot. There are game rooms (Play Station, Xbox, and other game consoles, a large selection of games on discs), billiards and small tennis. Club for children from 10 years old but allowed at 8-9. There are many Russians in this hotel. Our son met Russian boys and they spent their afternoons at this club. There are animators there, for their own older children, who watch the children and they also play games with them near the pool, sometimes organize competitions. Small children have their own animation, they saw a girl on the beach with small children, she also worked with them and played. Everyone speaks Spanish or English. But we had no problems with this because we are friends with English.
There is a large sports ground, a couple of tennis courts, a football field, volleyball, tables for small tennis.
Very beautiful pond with flamingos near the reception of the Bavaro hotel. There is also a smaller pond at the will of the Palladium Palace.
There is a sports bar, open around the clock, where you can always have a bite or a drink. But we never got to it : ) Located opposite the flamingo pond on the territory of the Bavaro Hotel. In the same place, a little further if you go through the Teen Club about which I wrote. The pools are large, beautiful, but we did not swim, only the child ran, so I can not say anything.
Good shows in the evenings. There are two amphitheatres, there is also a bar, the waiters go around offering drinks, which is very convenient. And you watch the show, and you drink a cocktail.
The staff is mostly very friendly, everyone smiles and says hello. There, the main key to the success of a tourist is a smile. If you smile, then you will be greeted with joy. There were a couple of times that we walked in the evening with a child, if electric cars serving the Royal Suites or other cars serving the complex were driving, they always stopped and offered a ride.
The animation in this hotel is very good, both on the beach and by the pool. Charging, dance lessons, volleyball, football on the beach, beach games, competitions. Who wins during the day in games and competitions, in the evening before the show in the amphitheater, the winners are awarded. Adults are given a bottle of rum or coffee, children mostly caps. My son and I won twice and received coffee and a cap with the hotel logo as a gift.
But the most impressive of course there is the ocean, the beach and very beautiful nature. For this it is worth going there. Due to the time difference, we got up early, we were already at the beach at seven in the morning or even earlier. In the morning it is especially beautiful there, there are almost no people, the ocean is very beautiful, an unusual turquoise color, all this is beautifully combined with a delightful dawn, and small clouds in the sky. The water is very warm. The sand is really white, you walk in the sea like on a carpet. When we were there, there were no waves, the ocean was warm and gentle. Great for kids. Near the beach is shallow. So there is where to swim for both adults and children.
The beach is good, there are a lot of sunbeds, but to get a good place in the shade, you need to take sunbeds from the early morning. I came at half past seven, and the best places in the shade closer to the ocean were already taken! Although there you can always find a place and a sunbed even if you come later. But it will be either the end of the beach or in the sun. The sun is very active, you get burned in a jiffy, we took a cream with protection 50, we didn’t get burned even once and tanned, nevertheless, not bad either.
As for the time difference, it is very noticeable and we did not fully adapt even by the end of the holiday. You wake up very early, but by 10 o'clock in the evening you are already terribly sleepy.
The climate there is really very damp, you hang towels or a wet swimsuit and they do not dry, so you need to take clothes with the expectation that there is less washing.
We were afraid to get into the season of tropical showers, which we read about as we were driving in the summer. We were not very lucky with the weather in the first three days upon arrival. It rained quite often and lingering, but as we were told, we got into a cyclone, which came there just a couple of days before our arrival. Three days later, the weather improved, it was hot and not a drop dripped. Although even when it rains, it is still warm, and after a couple of minutes of rain there are no traces of it. Once we waited out such a downpour on the beach under an umbrella.
As for excursions and souvenirs, they are all very expensive. We were on the island of Saona, it's in the Caribbean. They promised very beautiful nature. But we were not particularly impressed, the beach is no worse than in the hotel, And the sea is knee-deep, so you can only dip and swim there. Lunch was included, so-so. So this tour is not worth the money.
As for souvenirs, cigars and rum, we read that they are very cheap there, but I would not say that, good cigars and rum are not so small there. Although you can bargain with them. Popular souvenirs from the Dominican Republic are rum, cigars, coffee, and decorations made from their national larimara stone.
The only thing that marred our holiday a bit was the loss of a mobile phone. They forgot in the lobby, returned after 15 minutes and it was already gone, nothing was given to the reception and there were no tourists in the lobby at that time. Very strange. We have forgotten things on vacation more than once, and always found them at the reception without any problems. But the country is poor, and as I understand it, if someone has forgotten something, then the owner of these things is the one who found it. Most likely one of the staff. So keep an eye on things, don't forget anything. From people I also heard that they read about such cases of thefts in this hotel. Although they left an expensive camera on the beach when they went swimming, money and nothing was ever lost. But there are tourists, many foreigners who usually never take anything. But in any case, you have to be on the lookout.
Nevertheless, we were very satisfied with our stay. This is a country where you want to return, because the nature and views there are indescribably beautiful, you feel as if you are in paradise. Upon arrival home, the negative was gone, but the nostalgia for the Dominican Republic remained. Next year, if possible, we will go again, although we try not to go to the same place twice. As for the hotel, I would love to rest there again. Moreover, there are still many places where we have not had time to visit. So if you choose this hotel, I think you will be satisfied. All pleasant rest and positive emotions.
The flight was heavy, but we were ready for it)). Transaero Airlines.
At the hotel we were greeted with a cool, pink drink... it was nice... )) We settled quickly, next to each other, with a good view, we gave, from the room, 10 dollars each, NOOOOO this can not be done, they are quite friendly, cheerful . This was our initiative. ))
The food is excellent, very varied, delicious. Everyone can find it to their liking without any problems....When it's the first days, the eyes run in different directions))). This is pork, beef, chicken, turkey, different fish and it's all like a grill, and like in sauces. Stuffed pig, huge turkeys. Pizza in various interpretations, pasta. . Parmesan cheese, dor blue, etc. Vegetables, salads, fruits: mangoes, watermelons, pineapples, apples, bananas, etc. Fresh juices. Alcoholic cocktails are delicious, champagne on Saturday mornings, etc.... In short, you won't leave hungry. . . ))) "all inclusive" in Turkey, Egypt, just didn't stand next to the Dominican Republic.
Ocean BOMB, people are friendly, singing and dancing. Some people know and learn Russian, if you speak something in Spanish, they are very happy)) BUT it is desirable to know English, if not, it will be difficult... We were just lucky with the weather, sunny, warm, although according to forecasts it was rain.
The hotel is good, you won't regret it. The area of the hotel is huge, but there is a train, if someone is too lazy to walk. After such dinners, it is advisable to walk... ))) Palm trees, bushes . . everything is clean, trimmed . .
For girls: you don’t need a lot of heels . . ))) My friends and I scored, BUT they put them on a couple of times in a restaurant; one of my friends didn’t wear shoes at all))). Light slippers, sandals just right, you just don’t want to wear it all. . )))
I wish you all a great holiday and most importantly go with a good attitude. I recommend the hotel....
The MOST pleasant thing is the deaf American youth, they yell at the creatures as if they are finally alone ......I’m already silent about the drunk Canadians, they yell no less, but since they are healthier, they last longer and these nightly yells fascinate. ......animation is SHIT - it doesn’t exist at all, except for two blacks (silent people) on the beach .....everything that they offer there: excursions, cigars, paintings, gifts, whatever - feel free to divide everything in half and bargain until the last.... never leave and bargain bargain bargain. And for smokers - a pack of regular cigarettes costs 6 bucks, keep in mind (buy everything at home)!! ! Talk to a doctor - 120 bucks and it doesn't matter if he cured you or not. Consultation with him is not included in the insurance ....Another negative point - we went through the Neva travel agency and it turned out that in the middle of the vacation they called us from the reception and said that we had to pay 3400 bucks for the room, since the money was from our travel agency did not come.
And they said this when it was already night in St. Petersburg. As a result, we looked at everyone in St. Petersburg for the night, got through to the guide who met us at the airport and everything was postponed the next day ...after spending a sleepless night, they began to call the guide - he stupidly did not pick up the phone. The St. Petersburg travel agency said that everything was fine, the money was gone. Approaching the reception and asking if this is so - we were given a negative result ...as a result, after sitting all day at the reception, waiting for our guide (who still did not pick up the phone), we waited for him for three hours - with puzzled eyes, she said that we worried in vain - this is their usual situation ...the money for the hotel came only the next day ...you yourself understand what a wonderful three days we were instead of enjoying our vacation - we were sitting on pins and needles !!! ! Also, another great divorce from our travel agencies is a view of the sea ...
If you still want it, be sure to check - it should be written in your hotel voucher. If this is not the case, you will be placed in a regular room. I can also say that this hotel has a rather tight view of the sea - there are only a few of them (and the ocean is barely visible because of the palm trees and a small mound of sand) ...PEOPLE PEOPLE!!!! ! take a lot of cream with you at least 10 spf for one (provided that I finally don’t smear with protection) you need to smear after 30-60 minutes and it doesn’t matter what is written on your cream .....smeared in otog on a burnt body 40 and absolutely BURNED....
P. S. People go, relax, get burned)))))
