Czech Republic at the end of December.
Share your impressions with those who were in Prague at the end of the year (we are going for a week from December 20th). What is the weather like there, is it cold to ride the bus in winter?
Is the zoo open at this time?
Which excursions do you recommend taking, and which ones are better to refuse at this time of the year.
Maybe there will be more advice, otherwise we are going on a bus tour for the first time.

To give you an exhaustive answer, you need to know which tour you are going to?
Write the name of the tour.

I was last year on a car tour just at the end of January :)))
I will only add to my review that the zoo is open, but to visit it, allocate the whole day. It is very big, you won’t be able to run through it in a couple of hours. Leave in the morning (opens around 10 am) and walk at your pleasure!

Sorry for the mistake - I was at the end of December.

Tour Magnificent Europe (Budapest-Vienna-Prague-Sychrov Castle-Dresden-Karlovy Vary) 8 days.
Tell me, what does an optional excursion mean?

I have looked at your program. As far as I understand you are from Kharkov. I strongly recommend taking train number 111 to Lviv and getting on the bus there. You have a night crossing ahead of you, and if you go from Kyiv, it’s + 10 hours on the bus, it’s very difficult. And so you will go on an excursion in Lviv or take a walk yourself.
Buses are different, it happens that in winter people in T-shirts sit in front, and freeze in the back. A headrest and a thin blanket will not interfere, especially considering the two night crossings. You will find not only pre-Christmas Europe but also Christmas there. But! On December 25-26 EVERYTHING is closed, museums, shops... I don't know about the zoo these days.
Optional excursions - excursions for those who wish for additional money. Because of Christmas, it is difficult to advise something, the program is subject to change, some days may be reversed. You can go to Karlovy Vary on your own, without a brewery, it will be half the price. Bus from Florence. But it is desirable that shops work there, there are very good and inexpensive Karlovy Vary cosmetics + products for venous legs, sore joints, stomatology. drugs and many others.
Bathing in Budapest is a must! Section 8-9e in 4 hours. Boat in Bud. at the norm. the weather too, not in Prague.

In Prague, most of the time in the locks, nothing interesting, and eating in the city will cost much less.
Fountains are interesting, but again it depends on the weather, I don’t even know if they work at this time. It's outdoors.

Fountains will no longer work.

Thanks a lot for the helpful information. Do you think it is possible to have time to consider at least something with such a busy travel schedule?

The castles are closed, the singing fountains are closed, the zoo too, the daylight hours are short (it gets lighter around ten and it gets dark already at 4-17)... For the first time it would be better to go to the CZECH REPUBLIC in May-August. CZECH REPUBLIC IS GREAT!
But CHRISTMAS EUROPE is beautiful!
On a sightseeing tour, I advise you to take a road electric kettle for half a liter of water, tea and coffee in the room in the evenings will warm you up (and possibly gather an interesting company of traveler friends).
Take a light fleece blanket and a small pillow (but you can put a warm sweater ready) woolen socks will come in handy for long bus rides

I may repeat myself, but still: we refused the evening boat in Prague and did the right thing, it was cold, expensive and, in principle, uninteresting, as other people from our group said (we went in January). At that time, we had a great time in a wonderful restaurant and MUCH cheaper. The zoo and singing fountains do not work at this time, definitely! The weather is not necessary once in a while, dress like you are at home at this time of the year, naturally a warm jacket, but under it there may be a T-shirt and a sweater - depending on weather, and definitely VERY COMFORTABLE shoes, no heels, you will walk a lot! The bus has the warmest seats in front, try to take or book them, and if you are farther away, be sure to grab a blanket, warm socks, mittens, a hat - at the end of the cabin at night, in winter it was incredibly cold. I foolishly (and not only me) tried to lie down and sleep there (fortunately, the bus was half full and there were at least heaps of empty seats), but it wasn’t there, I froze like a knot and returned again to the front seats, to my daughter :) Shops, museums, etc.. they do not work only on Catholic Christmas, the rest of the days you can shop as much as you like. Enjoy your holiday and positive emotions!

the tour is winter, so do not forget the FIRST AID KIT in case of any colds-infections (aspirin-analgin-terraflu, for the throat, from the common cold, oxolinic ointment) and, of course, the TRAVEL KETTLE!

In Budapest, visit the baths - just class, so don't forget your swimsuit!!!
In Vienna, the Imperial Treasury is impressive, but without a group on a ticket, it will cost much cheaper, not far from the Treasury is the Art Museum-Exhibition "Albertina" - Monet, we got on Hugo and many other interesting things. If you are interested, you can run to see the house-creation of Hunderwasser - there is also a small shop with wonderful souvenirs.
Prague, I don’t advise on a boat, a golden street is an amateur, a street with small shops, sometimes workshops, a national museum, I advise you to go.
Karlovy Vary - if there is a check-in at the Krushovets brewery, think about it (beer will make itself felt.
Karlovy Vary, all the springs are very beautifully decorated, buy a cup and try every bottle of water, shops with cosmetics like gels, soaps, salt, I recommend the quality is super, with what we sell cannot be compared.
It is a must to visit the Dresden Gallery, again, you can individually buy tickets on the spot, and not overpay for a group visit.
Castles in the Czech Republic must be seen, otherwise why go!
Take a blanket, pillow, warm socks on the bus. Find out if there will be tea / coffee on the bus
