New Year in the Czech Republic
There is a choice - to go on a week-long tour in mid-November or directly to the New Year (December 29-30). Judging by Ukraine, life stops immediately after the holiday. So doubts torment. , with excursions to castles?

The excursion program in NG holidays, everything is there, just the cost of the tour in November and in NG will be significantly noticeable.

Travel industry workers themselves do not recommend trips on peak dates to their friends. As a rule, a "wiring" for a feast, a company of strangers, increased prices for everything, closed attractions ... If for the New Year, then only an individual with her own company!
Almost all castles in the Czech Republic, the most beautiful, for sure! since November they are closed for "hibernation", even winter and summer tour programs are very different.

The main cathedrals and castles are not closed in winter, because it is during this period that there is a huge influx of tourists from all European countries. Yes, and you will not see all the castles, this is unrealistic, there are a lot of them all over the country and all the best! at the highest level (because they have Catholic Christmas at this time and are celebrated on a large scale for more than a week). But the New Year's tour will cost you more, that's for sure, you will want to buy so many things there at the fairs! fountains, you will not see all the blooming beauty of the island of Kampa, the summer royal palace, in the garden of which there is also a singing fountain, well, the zoo is also worth a look in the summer. And you will definitely see all the main historical and architectural objects. Prague is beautiful at any time of the year! Even at the end of winter, I admired it! Have a nice trip!

Why are you so evil? And why should I communicate with Google if I communicate with our dad, who lives in Prague. Yes, and I advise you not to blindly believe everything that you found on those sites. Firstly, Catholic Christmas begins on December 25 and is celebrated all week, until the New Year. Have you ever been to Prague at Christmas yourself? Secondly, we visited with a guide the cathedrals of St. Vita, St. Mikulas, Clementinum in Prague, St. Barbarians in Kutná Hora, Rozmberg Castle and in South Bohemia, on the border with Austria, the royal residence and castle in Cesky Krumlov. Is this not enough?! In addition, on the day when our group went to Karlovy Vary, our dad took us to different places in Prague: Obetsni house, near the Powder Tower (it used to be the Royal Court, when the Prague Castle was destroyed by fire); the oldest Prague house "At Vejvody" (by the way, I advise everyone to go there, there is a cool brewery on the 1st floor, the most delicious windmill knee and ridiculous prices); and in the evening, yes, yes! that evening we went to the church of St.. Yakub (because on that day in this cathedral they gave an amazing organ concert all night long, which happens only once a year - our dad just knew about it!). And all this, mind you, we got in the winter!

Now about the Christmas markets: they start at the end of November and last until the New Year. And we caught sales even at the end of January. By the way, I advise you to make purchases in the new (it just opened in January 2008) huge, 5-level shopping center "PALLADIUM", on Republic Square, this is in the center, not far from the Powder Tower. There, all sorts of fashionable boutiques put up such discounts that we in Kyiv could not even dream of big holidays. And buy groceries in the cheapest supermarket "TESKO", not far from Wenceslas Square. By the way, we bought Becherovka, beer and absinthe there, and Becherovka was no more expensive there than in Karlovy Vary. ABOUT! I remembered that we bought ready-made mulled wine in a bottle there, such an awesome taste and smell, you only need to warm it up at home (do not boil!). Ask if you need anything else, I'm always ready to answer!
And let's be more tolerant, uv.ssvacko!

ssvacko, where did you put your previous comment, in which you sent me to chat with Google, and gave links? And most importantly, what were the tone and emotions ... Should I remove my answers too? Still, I'll leave it, maybe the person who asked the question will come in handy.

I didn't remove my post. It looks like you can't post links to other sites here. Therefore, I will repeat without references. The question was about locks. You can also make sure that the main castles are closed in winter through Google and looking at the guidebooks. The castles are big and gas is expensive and reconstruction is needed, this is not Ukraine. In the first days of November passed. year our group of 37 people. didn't make it to Gluboka nad Vltava despite our guide's requests and our agreement to pay double the price. At the same time, the guide explained everything about the mode of operation of the royal castles. In Krumlov, we also did not get into the interior, i.e. to the fortress itself, courtyards, climb the tower, please, but no further. Advising the Czech Republic on New Year's Eve and yourself there on New Year's Eve should not be at least irresponsible. Terrible table for big money with strangers in a diner for 200 souls...

Hello. I was in Prague and Karlovy Vary for the New Year holidays 2007-2008. Yes, indeed, there are a lot of tourists, prices are expensive, they didn’t get to the Krusovice brewery and a couple of castles either, but NEW YEAR IN PRAGUE is an unforgettable sight!!! Although dangerous, because in the squares there it is allowed to shoot fireworks and pitards, which is successfully used by the mass of visiting Chinese. Be careful, because there may be injuries and in general it seems that you are in the center of hostilities :).
I advise you to go for the New Year!!! I think that even without excursions to castles you will have something to see and be delighted with!

I was in the Czech Republic both in November and before Catholic Christmas))) Unfortunately, I didn’t get to Christmas itself and New Year, but the impression that Prague made on the eve of Christmas will remain in my heart for a long time! It's just some kind of magic!!! Believe me, you need to see it with your own eyes!
