Let's go to Prague! What is a MUST see?
At the end of November we are going to Prague for a week.
Of course, the Internet has already been turned over in search of information about sights, but I want to know the opinion and impressions of people who themselves were there and saw with their own eyes.
We didn’t plan to go to another city in the Czech Republic, but maybe it’s worth it?
And is it worth taking a sightseeing walking tour of Prague? Or if you are well prepared, you can see everything yourself?

Good afternoon, If you are the first time, then it’s better to take a survey, I can even advise a professional guide in Prague, you can agree with him in advance and you can even agree on a route. Or a general overview. or with additions. He will advise you and a good gentleman with beer (restaurant) where there will not be many tourists and the food will be truly Czech, and not srestatic European kunya
Skype Guide alm-travel Name is Elishka,
Say that Korsar gave you her coordinates.
He will also advise what other cities you can visit besides Prague.
By the way, there is a direct bus from Prague to Cesky Krumlov - a string town and a castle in the middle of the city - one of the most beautiful string towns in the Czech Republic

It’s worth taking a sightseeing tour so that they tell a story about everything they see - it’s more interesting :)
.... I can judge by myself that I remember the main square, the famous clock, the cathedral on it, Charles Bridge (there you need to make a wish), a horse suspended upside down, beer houses, an international disco, a very familiar street, but nevertheless with a traffic light :)... a flowerbed where every day the date (today) is laid out of flowers.... and the fact that it didn't get to the zoo - everyone says it's cool there. Will definitely visit next time :)
I would also advise you to go to Karlovy Vary - the city is small, but interesting thermal springs and a geyser and very beautiful ....
And the atmosphere is very memorable :) It's good there :)
Have a nice holiday! :)

You should definitely take a sightseeing tour, because you will be shown a lot of places that you can then visit again without a guide.

There are a lot of beautiful and ancient towns in the Czech Republic, but few people know about them.
This has its own charm, you can see what the "standard" tourist will not see.
Telch, Trebon, Czech Budejovice, Chervena Lhota, and not all of them. And wandering around Cesky Krumlov on your own is a frozen Middle Ages,
One more tip - take comfortable shoes with you - you will have to walk a lot, Prague, like all other cities in the Czech Republic, is watched with "feet".

If you are not afraid to lose a day, rent a car and drive to Karlovy Vary!! They are really impressive!! On the way, the Krušovica brewery...very interesting!!

Cool guide to start - useful, and more impressions.
But if with an intelligent guide, like Dorling & Kindersly with its panoramic maps, you can also explore Prague together and enjoy it together.
Prague is very conveniently arranged for travelers to explore:
Hail - half a day minimum,
Old city + Mala country - another day;
a must in Zoo (metro to Holesovice station, from there - tram or bus), because. This Zoo is one of the best in Europe! At least look at the games of penguins and sea lions! And a tropical pavilion, if the tropics have not yet been reached in real life.
+ next to the Zoo, across the road - one of the spectacular castles of the Czech Republic - Troy / Trojsky Zamek;
from the surrounding places - Karlstein Castle or the town of Kutna Hora (nice, for walks in the fall, even if late - nice !!!);
I strongly advise you to ride a boat along the Vltava, in the evening or in the afternoon - to your taste.
Yes, and to have lunch after walking around the Old City or the Castle - Stary Dvor on the street. At the Luzickego Seminar / U Luzickego Seminara, it's on the way from the Castle, almost on the banks of the Vltava.

a sightseeing tour is a must, and also visit the zoo, the place is wonderful, it is not in the standard excursion routes, we went ourselves. Get a map of Prague with public transport routes. and on it you can easily find the way to the zoo. You can also visit Karlovy Vary, or any other city, from the bus station by a comfortable regular bus 2 hours away.
аватар lili-payn
You can visit Dresden, but this is by train, and take your passports with you, in case of control. I wish you a good rest, and drink local beer!!!

Thanks a lot to everyone for the replies!
We will take a review 100%!
Can you tell me more about car rental?
Who knows?
What do they need for this?
Price?
аватар shumera
I can send you a personal message about car rental - the company's website - you can't post it here - they delete it.
and so they took it in Prague, in order to rent a car - you need ordinary rights and even international ones on your part, nothing more. travel insurance and so will you
аватар shumera
booked a car in a Prague agency through the website http://trigacar(dot)cz/
flew in, they have a parking lot at the airport - received, signed and drove off.
it is difficult with parking in Prague. behind the blue stripe in the old town - it is forbidden (only locals park) there are paid parking lots per hour 40 CZK after 6 and on Sunday for free, only on Wenceslas Square - paid up to 8. maybe you will have parking from the hotel - then it's less of a problem)

Take the car later, In Prague, you don’t need a car, you are tormented, you won’t drink beer and look for parking. But in order to travel around the castles, then you won’t get along without a car, Well, you also need a map and GPS so that you don’t get lost. If you go from Prague to Cesky Krumlov, then I recommend it. drive from PRAGY - along the Pisecky highway (direction Strakonice,) in front of Strakonicema turn to Pisek - Czech Budejovice - Czech Krumlov. Before Buděovice you can turn left and visit the castle Hluboká nad Vltava.
If necessary, I will reset the GPS coordinates for you to plot the route
аватар shumera
korsarcb, and can you tell me the GPS coordinates to visit the castle Gluboka over the Vltava. otherwise I'm just in the process now and choose where to go for the weekend!!
аватар Janny25
Of course, if something is not allowed to be posted here, throw it in a personal!
After all, before the trip you need to collect as much information as possible, prepare properly :)
I want to plan the whole trip in advance.
So that there is no longer thinking "where and on what to go?"
аватар korsarcb

korsarcb, tell me - is it possible to order an individual tour there? otherwise we will go with a small company - there will be 3 people, or even one will go.
аватар korsarcb
I can tell you a guide in Prague, and he makes individual excursions, he can show you the Prague that tourists do not know
аватар shumera
thanks about Prague - I have already climbed it up and down) I’m also interested in the Czech Republic itself!
аватар korsarcb
Good afternoon, you put me in a difficult position with the question of what else to see in the Czech Republic. There are so many interesting places here that life may not be enough. As far as I understand, you will travel around the Czech Republic on your own, so that I could advise you on the most interesting places and that the route would not be tiring. towers and so on. if you need to contact the shift or via mail or skype - to clarify all the details,
Sincerely, Alexander

I have 2000 locks in mind. I have already looked at 15 of them - there are very few left) it is a pity that this is possible only in the warm season!
аватар Janny25
By the way, I also read that there are more than 2.5 thousand castles in the Czech Republic!
And if you look at one a day, then in 7 years you can review them!
аватар korsarcb
15 locks is also already a sufficient number. It is natural to see everything - this is certainly unrealistic - but you need to try. Then you need to rent a car and travel all over the Czech Republic
аватар shumera
well, you can come on your own :) as I do, although I also rented
аватар korsarcb
Well, of course, it’s better on your own, if only the road to the Czech Republic is not tiring and long

If you are visiting Prague for the first time, it is better to take an overview of the city.
Museums of Prague http://www.abc-realty.eu/praha/praha-muzei.htm
I would advise you, if you are interested in art, to visit the Mucha Museum, the National Museum of the Czech Republic, the Collection of European Art is housed in the Sternberg Palace Prague (the guides are often silent about this.

In Prague, now you can get on a tour of the center by paying only a tip to the guide, that is, exactly as much as you liked the tour. And the tour guide, by the way, too. As stated in the leaflet - group meeting every Saturday at 1 pm on nam. Repubilky at the main entrance to the Palladium hypermarket - they are there in blue T-shirts with the inscription "Excursion and I".
