Apply for a visa to the Czech Republic in Nizhny Novgorod
We want to independently apply for a visa to the Czech Republic in Nizhny Novgorod, book a hotel and buy air tickets. What is the best way to do all this? When and where to start. I would be grateful for detailed answers.

Do you have a visa department or an embassy of the Czech Republic in the city?

Our Consulate of the Czech Republic

You need to start by looking for air tickets, because if you can’t buy them at a normal price, then the whole undertaking with an independent trip will turn out to be more expensive than a ready-made tour. After the tickets, you need to contact the hotel you choose and find out if they can mail you the original confirmation of the reservation on the form and signatures. Then everything is simple - book a hotel, wait for confirmation, collect documents and submit to the consulate.

If so, then go to the website of any major operator (for example, I climbed to Amigotours) there is a list of all the necessary documents and questionnaires, buy air tickets, book a hotel, ask them for confirmation of the reservation and go to the visa department with a full package of documents. But I totally agree with Pachok, it makes sense to do this if you are going for a long stay or if you manage to get very cheap tickets. As a rule, an average tour with a 3 * hotel in Prague will be cheaper than tormenting yourself, and the operator will also have several excursions included in the package price. When I calculated this question for myself, in the end I bought a ready-made tour and already bought more excursions on the spot to saturate my program) And so, of course, it's up to you to decide which way to go

I will clarify - it is better to take the list from the website of the consulate, agencies often do gag. What I was told in one large and respected Kiev operator about the necessary documents - you can’t pull it on your ears ...

Thanks a lot!! That's just with the tickets and the snag: several sites looked at all the terrible duration of the flight (up to 16 hours), with 2 transfers and for big money!

Here we are about you too. If you are planning a fairly standard tour for 7 - 14 days, then buy a ready-made option, it is better to spend your energy on choosing a convenient hotel. Personally, I would recommend not to choose 4 *, anyway, you only spend the night in the hotel, but choose a conveniently located 3 * within walking distance from everything interesting, so as not to waste time and money on getting to the center.

Thanks! I also wanted to clarify: the daughter is a university student, which international student card (there are so many of them, I got confused with the choice) is better to issue in order to use discounts when visiting museums?

This is a good question for a separate topic. I can be wrong, but in the Czech Republic it will not help you much. There, each city is like a museum in itself. And when buying an excursion on the street, it will not help you. And for trips to real museums, you still need to manage to find free time. Personally, I didn't get to that point. Even when I went to Dresdon, I didn’t go to the museum, but wandered around the city, the historical center of the city, although not big, is beautiful, and there is very little free time.

I, apart from ISIC, do not know others. But according to him, tourists write, in many places there are decent discounts.

Thanks! About the map, indeed, it is better to create a separate topic.

ISIC is the most common. Almost always there is a badge stating that there are discounts on it.
There is also Euro26, less known and it often happens that there is a discount, but there is no sticker about this at the checkout. You have to push it all the time. This is also a student card, although it is issued not only to youth students up to 26 years old, but now the age has been increased and you can use it up to 32 (!!!) years.
Although most often in Europe, if you have any card, there is an age limit of 26 years, it does not save everywhere ...
There is also ITIC for teachers, professors and graduate students. Can issue an oversized student ;-)
Discounts as per ISIC. I didn't use the others.
Huge discounts in Greece and most attractions and museums in Greece are free for ALL EU students!!! Upon presentation of a student or ... ISIC.
Due to the fact that the country (?) was not indicated on our ices, they asked us again and sometimes they heard not Ukraine, but Yukey and we got for free ...
Once, I confess, they said. that we are Slovaks ... We got to Delphi for free.
In general, according to Aisik in Greece, everything was with a 50% discount (for non-EU citizens), but European countries (they had a list and Ukraine was present there.
