Where to start planning your vacation?
Good afternoon, I would like to go to rest in Prague. To be honest, we want to go ourselves without all kinds of excursions (that is, "savage").
To be honest, I want you to tell me where to start and how to organize everything correctly. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

The first is to get acquainted with the reports of those who have already traveled so successfully.
Secondly, do you drive a car (your own, rented) or public transport? In the first case, I have something to advise you. In the second, too, but much less, because it is difficult to get to the places of residence where we were and where we liked it without a car.

we will go by bus or by train

Visa. If you don’t have it (and it seems to me that you don’t have it ;-), then this is the most important thing for you.
For a visa, in addition to all other paperwork, you need a voucher - this is a letter from a hotel in the Czech Republic or from a Czech tour operator, which indicates that you have booked and paid for accommodation (yes, usually the consulate requires partial or full payment for hotel accommodation, and the hotel itself often pays does not take and does not always understand what you need from them).
That is, you yourself must ask to pay, and then ask the hotel to send you a letter (original or fax). This is your #1 goal - hotel fax about booking and payment.
There is an option to book through booking, venus or hostelworld and many more. others, but this is at your own peril and risk - on the one hand, you almost do not risk money, on the other, there is a risk that the consulate will not accept such a reservation ...
We ourselves usually live in houses at campsites (they are often in the suburbs and very cheap) and in Prague I wanted to advise a cool campsite, but you won’t get there without a car ...
By the way, in Prague itself there is a whole quarter of "camping sites", but the prices there are not cheaper than hostel hotels.
Well, you can forget about campsites in May ;-)

You can also open the Wikimapia site, select Prague, and select the Panoramio mode - you will see photos that people have added to the map. So you can evaluate which places near Prague you like the most and where you want to go. As a rule, the most popular and interesting places are photographed and posted there in dozens of frames, and you will immediately understand where the most touristic places are.
Well, I like to search by photos of tourists rather than booklets.
If you have someone under 26 years old and he is a student, be sure to do ISIC - it will pay off for 2 museums. + students have discounts on transport.
I won’t tell you anything about public transport, I’m by car ;-)
In general, if you are traveling for a couple of days, then you should not include something else in the route besides Prague. If a week, then, of course, you need to go.
There are several castles very close to Prague:
- Castle Konopiste (Benesov) somewhere 20 km from Prague
-Karlstein-also km 20-30
-Orlik + Zvikov castle. To the south, already further away, and the reservoir area.
-Krivoklat to the west of Prague
-Kokorin in the north
It's all close.
A little further - Karlovy Vary, Kutna Hora (ossuary), natural reserve "Troski" - the so-called "Czech Paradise" near Turnov, Ceske Budejovice (Gluboka nad Vltava castle)
There is something to watch

The most important thing is to have money.

We also wanted to go on our own, but it turned out that it was easier and cheaper with an agency. We calculated and calculated all possible options. And although we initially planned to organize everything on our own, we came to the conclusion that the agency would do it better, especially since the representative office of the Czech agency in Ukraine came to hand.
We were not tied to the group, everything was organized for us just for us and the way we want.
Only now we flew there by plane, because. we valued time, we did not want to waste it on the road.
Well, to each his own.
If you are interested in contacts of the agency, I will share.
This is not an advertisement.
These are just the words of a satisfied tourist :)
And I want to come back to Prague again and again! You'll like it.
There, even a simple walk through the streets at random is a lot of fun!
We took a map with the designation of attractions and thought out our route.
But I would not advise to refuse excursions. There are so many stories and legends that you won't read about in guidebooks!
Our price included 2 walking tours in Prague and Karlovy Vary.
It was very interesting. We were lucky with the guides.

There are audio guides and, among other things, Prague is the kind of city where a third if not half of all groups are Russian speakers. Needless to say, anywhere you can easily "fall on the tail" of some group)))
Of course, this is if you are 2-3 people. Also, in the Czech Republic, many castles-museums themselves form groups of independent tourists with a Russian-speaking guide - they collect, say, 25-30 people. And then there's the tour.
Again, finding a Russian guide in Prague is not a problem if you have the Internet.

The Janny25 option is also great if you do not plan a trip with 8 nights in different cities and do not have daily transfers. Then a travel agency will make a voucher for you, 5-6 nights in Prague, and you will buy tickets yourself or the same company will allocate seats on the bus. And you will climb around the city yourself.
If you want a circular route for 1 night in different hotels through the company will be expensive. And not every manager will get involved in these agreements.

Well, everyone needs money and always!

the first thing you need. it depends on the transport. the train from Kyiv takes about 35 hours (via krakow). the bus from Kyiv goes around the clock, from Lviv leaves at about 17.00 and at 10 in the morning in Prague.
then choose a hotel. it’s more convenient to stay in the old town (this is the Prague 1 district), so you can visit the sights yourself without extra travel costs.
Well, then you decide - you need to collect documents for a visa!

35 hours!!!???
Tin.
аватар Anetka-gan
yeah =) there, in my opinion, the car is disconnected in Krakow and it is waiting for a passing train))
аватар Anetka-gan
