What language to communicate with the Czechs?
Hello!
We are going to the Czech Republic for the first time.
When we travel, we like to skip "scheduled" excursions.
Accordingly, when you really don’t want to go to the “recommended” tavern, we plan to fill up on your own in some inconspicuous to us, but known to the local super-pub :-)
Hence the question:
Do they understand Ukrainian (Russian, English) in Prague cafes, as well as shops, shops, etc.? Or with the help of gestures and lowing :-) ?
Thanks!

Young Czechs understand English, older ones - Russian. Ukrainians understand Czech :) Everything is very simple there in terms of communication, don't get lost! :)

as they say "language will bring to Kiev!" communication in primitive English will save you =))))))

Well, you are not going to talk to them))))) And you can order food in a restaurant with gestures)))))

in a restaurant, when you sit down for something, say hello to the waiter in Russian and they will bring you a menu in Russian.

They wrote you correctly - minimal English, Russian - everything will work out. Czech words in 2/3 can be understood by yourself. Where, where, but in the Czech Republic there are no problems with understanding :-)
+ there are a lot of Russian-speaking sellers and waiters, we started to order in English more than once and in response we heard: "let's be better in our way" :-)

"in a restaurant, when you sit down for something, say hello to the waiter in Russian and they will bring you a menu in Russian."
Quite right. And also with prices "for Russians" and the cost of a couvert, even if it is not on the menu in other languages: ((((

+1 =)))

In Russian. This is quite enough, you will understand. Be polite, do not forget to say hello when you enter a restaurant, pub, shop, etc. Do not skimp on tips, within reason of course. (keep in mind that big denomination coins circulate in the Czech Republic)
