First time wild
Hello everybody. We are going with friends for 3-4 days in Prague. Does it make sense for such a short time? And how to organize a trip: which hotel? what to watch? where to eat? All previous trips were standard: travel agency-Turkey/Egypt-all paid for :). Now it's a little scary to go by yourself :)
I would really appreciate your advice!

in princepe 3-4 days is possible. if you fly by plane, and do not waste time on train-buses.
A. you have to choose whether you organize everything yourself and trust the agencies
B. if you are ready to solve everything yourself:
1.visa - go to the website of the Czech Embassy in the Russian Federation and print out the list of documents required for a tourist visa
2. find a cheap (not cheap if finances allow) flight-train
3. find the right hotel. for example here: www.booking.com or hotels.com or tripadviser.com
4. prepare all documents from the list

5. Read reports of self-tourists to the Czech Republic on the Internet. For a beginner, this is a treasure trove of useful information.
Start with tickets. Their price determines whether there will be economic sense in an independent organization.
What to watch, only you can choose, the main routes in Prague are described in paper guides and on sites dedicated to the Czech Republic in general and Prague in particular.

Good afternoon! Of course, you can go to the Czech Republic on your own, although you will have a question about obtaining a visa. The Embassy needs the original voucher from the hotel, which is hard to get. it is better to contact a tour company. They will help you pick up a hotel and make a visa. I recommend that you choose a tour of 7-10 days, otherwise you will not have time to see the Czech Republic. You can only enjoy Prague in such a short time. In order to save time, choose an air tour, but if you can afford a 10-day tour, then by train to Krakow, and then by bus. And it's better with a group, there are more excursions. Very cool tour Czech etudes, I recommend! There you will be in Prague for 5 nights and see a lot of interesting things.

"and it's hard to get it. it's better to contact a tour company"
Absolutely not difficult. Write to the hotel, wait for the voucher by mail.
"They will help you find a hotel too" Yes, they will help :))) The hotel that we go to in Prague for 40 Euros per day, Kiev agencies sell for 70.
аватар gribanova1966
So you are in luck! Among hotels, this is not usually practiced. And there are agencies that can offer you accommodation in a 3 * hotel for 26 euros per person. Need to find the right one. Of course, booking is cheaper by a couple of euros, and if the original voucher is sent, it is better to make a visa on your own, if you are not afraid of the queues at the Consulate.

"So you're in luck! Among hotels, this is not usually practiced."
Not true. This is a completely common practice. Maybe this is "not practiced" in the base hotels of tour operators? I believe in it :)
"And there are agencies that can offer you accommodation in a 3 * hotel for 26 euros per person."
Firstly, you correctly wrote "per person", but I wrote about the price of the ROOM. Secondly, 3 * are very different, we take 4 * for 40 euros.
"cheaper by a couple of euros"
30 euros per day difference, agree that this is not a "pair of euros".
"if they don't scare the queues at the Consulate."
The lines at the Czech embassy are short.

I will not argue with you! Everyone is looking for a more profitable option. It is possible that during the crisis, hotels have revised the rules for working with direct tourists. As for the queues at the Consulate, let me disagree with you. People queue up at 7 am to apply. The best option is to sign up for a feed on the site, then it will be faster.
аватар Anetka-gan
what the hell?? any hotel will freely send the original of the document (sometimes a fax copy is also suitable for the embassy), because he clearly knows that if this is important to the client, then he will choose his hotel, and not another one that will send documents. They did everything to me - they sent it. no problem!

I "surrendered" to the Czech embassy in mid-September - there were 8-10 people in line. It's at 9:00.
And around 11 - there was no one at all ... so queues are not a constant phenomenon ...

"during the crisis, hotels have revised the rules for working with direct tourists."
Again not true. We’ve been booking like this for five years already, the crisis is two or three years old, ne?
"People stand in line at 7 am to apply"
People's business. Arriving at 10 in the morning, I was always free by lunchtime (12.30).
"an option, sign up for a feed on the site, then it will be faster."
You are not confused with the embassies of France or Great Britain?
аватар Pachok
"sometimes in the embassy a fax copy is also suitable"
Anetka-gan, unfortunately, neither fax nor booking confirmation works with the Czechs. Only the original voucher is needed, with seals and signatures :(

Pachok "Unfortunately, neither fax nor booking confirmation works with the Czechs."
The Germans told me the same thing at first, then they received a fax.
in any case, the guests send everything without problems! proven! :)

I would advise you to calculate both options - through a travel agency and on your own, and then choose what suits you best. Usually I get 20 dollars more for Europe through a travel agency, but minus the headache with a visa - to submit documents I have to go to Kyiv, otherwise I gave all the papers to the agency and you can relax. We went to Prague at the end of September, booked a tour - a hotel plus an air flight plus a visa (no transfers, excursions, etc.) it turned out to be 2900 hryvnia round-trip ticket Odessa-Prague per person (for these dates they themselves could find the cheapest one for 3700, and the agency bought for us a much cheaper package) and 460 euros for a 3-bed room in Victoria 3 * with breakfast for 7 nights + 35 euros consular fee for each. And then they decided for themselves what to watch, how to get there, etc.

We were in Prague for 3.5 days in August.
All options were considered. It turned out to be better to go with an agency. Cheaper. We took the air.
If you are interested, write in a personal, I will tell you through which agency you can take a tour. Inexpensive and very well organized. This is not an advertisement. We just LOVED it. They specialize in the Czech Republic.

In terms of economic benefits, it happens both ways. Again, it all depends on the ability to take an inexpensive air ticket.
If we bought a direct Aerosvit to Prague for $97 last December, why the hell did I need agencies with their "flights from 250"? :)
And a few years before that, I bought an entire tour with a flight for 300 euros at Vedi Tourgroup, which is also a normal price, then there were no cheap flights in the offers.
аватар hatinka
And with me, on the contrary, as soon as I buy a tour through a company, and it was only three times, so only jambs with a visa! Either a visa the day before departure, or someone from the company will be slapped with an unintelligible refusal.
When I prepare the documents myself, so "know the problems."
I also received vouchers without problems and the hotel always additionally asked for a fax of the consulate, something else to fax them ...
I have already vowed to travel with travel agencies.

I'm here intensively studying air routes to Prague. An amazing fact - I was told yesterday that ONLY Aeroflot and Czech Airlines fly to Prague. Is it really true? I highly doubt....
аватар lubitelj
I don’t know from which city you are flying, I looked from Moscow just in case. Direct flights are really only by Aeroflot and Czech (this is normal, from Ukraine too - one Czech and one Ukrainian direct flight), but there are options with transfers (sometimes they are cheaper than direct ones - the fee for having to hang out at airports :o) , for example, Finnaer flies via Helsinki, Rossiya via St. Petersburg. Direct flight 2.40 hours, with transfer 8 hours
аватар RoZa79
Thanks. We are from Moscow and apparently we will have to fly with Aeroflot. It's just a pity to waste time. We are already going for three days, somewhere else to hang out just like that ...
Apparently 15 thousand rubles for a round-trip ticket - this is normal and you have to take it ...
аватар lubitelj
Take a better look at Czech Airlines - the cost is slightly less, and the quality is much higher - the minimum cost that I have seen so far is 460 dollars, but it depends on the dates. Write the dates - I can look for you options
аватар RoZa79
We are doing everything to fly there on November 26 and back on November 29. Thank you very much!
аватар lubitelj
For your dates, the cost of Aeroflot and Czech is the same - about 488-495 dollars, and if you fly out on 25/11 - it will be slightly cheaper than 460-465. It is advisable to book tickets (if there is a possibility of free booking), but not yet redeem now - it will be more expensive later. I looked at prices through Ukrainian agents, I wanted to look through Russia, but it doesn’t work through the site - only if you send a booking request. Sometimes through agents it turns out cheaper than directly with the airline.
аватар RoZa79
Yes, indeed, it is cheaper through agents than directly. She made sure herself. Yesterday I found out at the agency, the ticket is 15 tr. to Aeroflot. Directly at Aeroflot, I simply could not find out anything or even book. Sometimes it happens...

By the way. There are no problems with food at all. There are cafes and restaurants at every step. For some reason, there are especially many Italian ones. You can still buy food from the supermarket. there is Albert there in the center and Tesco.
What to watch?
Everything is interesting there! beautiful every home!
If possible, take a sightseeing tour of Prague.
Guides will tell you so many legends and stories! At least we were very lucky with the guides, it was very interesting. You don't read this on the net.
