People!!!, I'm going at the end of March 2013, on a group tour from the school with a child.
Tell me, is it really as scary as they write in the comments. Give advice on how to avoid trouble in the hotel. Thank you all in advance.

what kind of trouble??? European country! the trouble is that ours are settled in hotels where the owner and staff are from the post-Soviet space - that's the theft and rudeness!

What specifically scares you? I don't really understand the problem

dirt and the presence of a tobacco smell in the rooms, lack of towels for 4 stars, insecurity of the rooms (flimsy locks), the condition of the elevators, noise, din, lack of understanding on the part of the hotel staff ... I haven’t been there, I’m just going to, and I’m already changing I can't hotel. The comments of vacationers about the hotel are just horror (sometimes something comes across with a C mark, but there are practically no normal ones at all), but it is our right to believe them or not. It remains to be hoped that in the country of the Schengen agreement they would not scatter 4 stars .., but this is a very vague hope.

Dear cousin! I understand that we need to tune in only for the good. And so we will not spoil the mood in advance. We will come and see for ourselves. And then we will set ourselves up only for the worst, and with such a mood we will see everything. Let's start looking at every crack in the rooms. Look for dirt, sniff every smell. Everything will be fine!!! But still, if someone was in this hotel, then answer!

Yes, I agree with you, after all, we are not from the Inspector General :)

I lived in this hotel for a week (March 2010) - I really liked it, a big beautiful hotel, there were no problems, clean, good room (everything is in order, bedding, towels are clean, not torn) good food (I only had breakfast) . The only drawback is that it is far from the center (but we rented a car with a navigator). I read the previous negative reviews ... I don’t know ... either everything has changed for the worse in a few years, or I was lucky then ... The main thing is to “correctly” tune in to rest))). And I think you will enjoy Prague (it's one of my favorite European cities). I wish you a great rest!!!

What building did you live in?

Unfortunately, I can't tell you (it was a long time ago). I only remember that they settled in the building on the right side of the main entrance (there were also nice flowerbeds and a small stone fountain). I found some photos, but I don't know how to post them here...

I didn’t live in 4 *, but with 3 * I never had any problems from what you listed. You probably won’t be insured against the smell of smoke, but I was lucky with these, I don’t smoke myself and I smell smoke and tobacco very well, but I never had problems with this. Personally, I see no reason to overpay for the stars, for me the location of the hotel, proximity to the center is much more important, so as not to waste money or time on transport. If you get on vacation, then there will be quite a lot of children everywhere, although in a hotel, as a rule, everyone only spends the night. I ran into children on vacation, only at breakfast. It didn't bother me at all. Cleaning in inexpensive hotels is a peculiar thing in Europe in general, the garbage was taken out and that's it. , this is not Turkey, where towels and bed linen are constantly changed and the floors are washed, here they usually do this once a week. Here you will not achieve understanding and are ready to pay - all questions will be closed immediately. And I came across the staff only when entering and leaving the hotel, there are few of them in hotels in Prague. Out of real discomfort, I encountered cold in the rooms a couple of times, especially in early autumn. Batteries are still weak and cold to sleep. I had to dress warmer.
