Do they take your passport?
Last year, I rested in another hotel at the reception, they took my passport until departure. They gave it only after the delivery of the maid's room. This year I'm going with my daughter to Slavyansky. Does this hotel collect passports?

Do not go to this hotel, you need to have at least a little respect for yourself.
Let them rest there themselves, administrators with maids, and take each other's passports.

Last year I lived in "Slavyansky". I can say for sure that no one will take your passport from you, you only need it when you check in at the hotel, it’s literally for a couple of minutes. I really liked everything, very surprised by the negative reviews ...

They have no right to take your passports, just in case, photocopy it and give a copy if they need it. Your passport proves your identity!

A passport is required for tourist registration. The administrator keeps records of settlements, for further settlements with tour operators, and the budget, because a tour tax is paid for each tourist. In addition, tourists are issued address cards, which may well be asked for by Bulgarian border guards at the border (if the road is land). Passports can be kept in a special safe at the reception, where they are safe and sound, and it is better if they are there than tourists go to the beach with them. If they steal it, you will wait for the passavan for 3-5 days and you will not be able to leave the country. If the hotel keeps passports, and you need them - just ask, they are obliged to give you. After all, the bank changes the currency in the presence of a passport. If you rent a safe separately, it is better, of course, to store your passports in it. IMHO, if a passport is taken as collateral, then this is not good, in this case, offer to leave a certain amount as collateral.

you need your passport to check in at the hotel, but after going through all the procedures, you must return it. but if you want the hotel to store your passports and it does not cause problems for you, then you can leave it.

You need a passport at the reception for registration, but in some large hotels they can give it back the next day. And you yourself decide where it is better to store it: in your suitcase or at the reception. Best in a safe. Natasha Kiev explained very clearly.

In general, I never rented a room in Europe, for the first time when I asked the bellhop to rent a room, they looked at me like I was crazy, and for a long time they could not understand what I was trying to achieve. But ... Bulgaria did not go far from us , Turkey too.

This is me in the words of the TS "Given only after the delivery of the maid's number", refers to the passport!

I understood) as they explained to me in that hotel, they do everything like that, but only with Russian tourists. And then I found in the reviews, if there was damage in the room, they demanded large sums for restoration, and they gave the passports only after payment

That's right, second-class people, they would not have done this to a German, although I saw such Germans ... !!!))

In those hotels in which we were in Bulgaria, there were never any obstacles to pick up our passport. We always take a safe and keep documents, money, tickets there. As for the delivery of rooms - this was also not the case. Once I asked the maid at check-out if she would inspect the room. She said no, because she sees who needs to be looked at and who doesn't. And if the reviews say that they caused great damage, then I don’t understand how and what should be done in order to demand compensation. Probably drink less.

In principle, the maid really sees, cleaning every day in the room, if something has disappeared or broken, believe me, they will whip it very quickly, because they often write off everything on their conscience and fine them, they say, they overlooked it. Perhaps such wild orders were temporary, because a passport as a pledge is wrong.

As for hotels in Europe, Russians steal. I worked in Kyiv, in one of the 3 * hotels, we almost every day head. The room fund moaned that the towels were stolen, then the scales from the Suite room. And in the Suites live far from the poor and not Ukrainians or Russians at all. The Turks - so in general - their creed was to order a room service and then fade away without paying. As for something broken - yes, it happens, but the hotel charges 10 times the amount of damage. Sometimes this is justified. But, I repeat, a passport is already an extreme measure, and you can always explain to the staff or hotel manager that you will not leave your passport as a deposit

You know, for some reason I am sure that these costs and losses are included in the cost of rooms, which I won’t believe otherwise. This is much better than counting glasses, spoons and loudspeakers, as was the case under the Soviet regime. And it doesn’t humiliate visitors who don’t I somehow, not on our website, read how a "comrade" planned to "steal" a small plasma from a cabin on a cruise. And you say - a towel)))
аватар alex45
And about the fact that the "maid overlooked" and fined, it is rather a post-Soviet syndrome again. I’ll return to Europe - there are carts on the floors with a mass of bed linen, towels, the maid is picking up in the room, I don’t want to take it, but there are no chains and other devices against theft! If they were fined, then probably anti-theft devices would be)))

So, we were lucky, nothing broke, we didn’t take anything from the room, our passports were returned to us without questions. The exchange office asked for a passport only once, the guy standing behind me kindly offered his documents. Of course, it was a little stressful: “what if they hang an unbearable amount?”, But everything worked out, so I will give a copy, wise by experience and your advice)
аватар alex45
Here are the goodies! I would generally give only for registration, then if asked, I repeat, if asked, I would give a copy. And then you can in the safe at the reception, or in the room - but yourself!
