This is not true. I have been traveling to the Crimea from Moscow for five years. When boarding, both tickets AND PASSPORTS are required.

At the border, they definitely don’t check tickets (this is the question), or maybe in Moscow they check them when landing (it’s not difficult to check on the spot). Passports, I know, are needed only when buying tickets, and then no one checks them
