Our quiet town
This, of course, is not a story about a trip, but rather an attempt to systematize possible tourist routes to Zhytomyr. As a patriot of my city, I cannot help but regret that, for all its rich centuries-old history, there are very few interesting things left in our city (the city suffered a lot during the Great Patriotic War). Then Khrushchev with his houses, the result is catastrophic. Now there is practically nothing left, but still, as a tourist, I can advise you to see something. Let's start with the Museum of Cosmonautics (the city is the birthplace of S. P. Korolev) - beautiful and interesting, across the road is the House-Museum of S. P. Korolev. Of the other significant places, the local history museum (where the entire exposition has gone, no one knows, just like the art gallery, they say that everything is there, but for ten years we have not seen anything) Further, the Orthodox Cathedral and the Cathedral Church (a large community of Poles ). There is also the Korolenko House-Museum. Quite a beautiful Gagarin park, located on the site of the former estate of the Shaduars barons (practically nothing has been preserved). Everything in the city. In the region itself, much more sights have been preserved (I advise the Trigorsky Monastery, nearby the picturesque rocks near the Denesh Kostely in Berdichev, the castle in Radomyshl, a former fortified area in the Novograd-Volynsk region). You can get to everything from the city, but it is better to take excursions or drive a car. Our Zhytomyr travel agencies do not deal with such trifles (maximum Sofiyivka and Roshen Fountains. Probably a bad advertisement turned out, but we are not Feodosia, nor Kyiv, nor Vinnitsa. That is what it is. There is something to look at, but all the crumbs are inconvenient.
