What needs to be done so that people can fully appreciate the beauty of their country? The answer was simple - just close the borders! We have traveled a lot in Ukraine before, but now we can spend much more time in the most interesting parts of our country. And even discover fragments of other countries. For example, today we will discover a real piece of Norway without leaving the country. To do this, we will need to take a couple of tickets to Kamianets-Podilskyi and travel around it a bit.
We have been to our favorite Kamyanets more than once, and it seemed that we have not seen here? But nothing will be hidden from Dasha's watchful eye, all unknown places will be made public!
As quarantine opens up new opportunities, you can now not only travel on holiday, but also work remotely.
Before the epidemic it was possible to do so for several days, now you can safely try a temporary relocation. Now you can not get attached to the weekend, and go on the road right in the middle of the week. In the yard of July, the borders are gradually beginning to open, soon it will be possible to make a great journey, and for now rehearse on a shorter one. Go on adventures!
The adventures did not take long and began right at the time of boarding the train. We bought two of the two seats in the compartment. According to the rules of the July quarantine, only two people could go. But, as it turned out later, "Ukrzaliznytsia agreed on quarantine" (this was a direct quote from the train chief). And in our compartment settled two more people who were officially sold tickets in the same compartment. Although at the time of our purchase there was no such opportunity.
All the strictness of our quarantine over the last four months has collapsed. But somehow I didn't want to cancel the plans when you were already on the train with your things. Ukrzaliznytsia had to send an email to change the quarantine measures to those people who bought tickets in advance.
Yes, and good with that railway, let's better go on to good adventures, because the trip was really one of the best in our country.
Our apartment looked very themed, because it used to be a cafe. Chains hung from the ceiling, and an old pirate was painted at the entrance. In the kitchen near the bar, I equipped myself with a study. I shifted my work hours a bit. Some of the tasks I did at night before going to bed, some - on the weekends. So he unloaded his time for day trips.
During the trip, he simply took a laptop with him and in an emergency could connect to an urgent task. It is worth noting that the performance in this mode is definitely not affected, and I realized how I can be mobile at work.
Through the hostess we found the driver with the car (his number at the end of the story) and agreed with him a plan of individual trips, the driver was a great enthusiast for sightseeing trips. He was very worried that we would see absolutely all the places with all the details and beauty, his main demand was that we do not hurry and at least walk in all places until the evening. At the same time, he turned out to be the only one of the local drivers who knew about all the places we wanted to visit, others seemed to be freezing because the roads there were killed. The man is energetic, he went with us on the routes, keeping our pace, where there were mountains, he climbed with us with joy, sometimes even more agile…
Ah, I forgot to say the main nuance, he is 72 years old. I really hope that Dasha and I at his age will also climb the mountains with such dexterity and enthusiasm. At first I had wild doubts about his age, but when he began to talk about the day Stalin died, I was finally convinced. In general, a man of credit, I recommend.

Sunflower fields are everywhere, there will be many on the route, do not miss them during the season. Interestingly, I had never thought about how many imperfect sunflowers in the world before, until I tried to take a picture with them.
This one is too low, the one is crooked, the one is too flat, and the one that is closest is bitten by someone. Well, we have a great route here, we will stop everywhere until we find the most standard sunflowers for photography.
Hotin
I don't even know what was more pleasantly surprising: a castle, panoramas or a trekking route. Let's start with the castle, it is really well preserved here and looks like a real castle, unlike, for example, the castle Tustan, which now does not look at all))
Or, for example, if you take the castle in Bratislava, which just looks like a commercial building, and here is really a full-fledged castle with all the proper attributes and a bunch of themed halls. Around the castle is still beautiful, there are whole trails on mini-mountain routes. And there are even trails on top of the old wall for those for whom quiet routes are too safe. We, of course, climbed all the branches of the local rocks and be sure to walk along the wall.
Of course, there were no injuries here, but, as they say, beauty requires sacrifices.
But our driver does not care, deftly jumps everywhere and climbs all the local rocks. I still have fond memories of Khotin. While we were walking, I received an offer to return to one of the best companies in Ukraine, where I once enjoyed working and creating processes. This, of course, is not the merit of Khotin, but now such fond memories are attached to him.
Chewing gum
It is quite a beautiful and cozy place, which is just the road to Kamyanets, here the rivers make a good turn. Unfortunately, as I did not try to photograph the panorama, I did not choose a successful angle. It seems that the border used to pass here, because there are warning signs that have burned out.
Kamianets-Podilskyi
Kamyanets itself is as beautiful as ever, it has all the same cool walking routes, the bottom of the canyon smells just as nice with rural air, and in the city itself you can now rent bikes. The only problem is that the streets of this city are constantly sloping up and down. But if you decide to burn extra calories, that's it. And here you can order delivery of delicious inexpensive pizza from Silpo. However, there was one nuance: two pizzas arrived hot, ready, and one frozen. The store, of course, gladly agreed to accept, if we get to it on the outskirts of the city. By the way, when you need to get to their Silpo, Kamenets turns from a small cozy town into a long Kryvyi Rih.
We solved the problem in a more interesting way, so as not to go to the edge of the earth. Since the pizza was Carbonara with a bunch of meat, we decided to stuff the cats and dogs.
We gathered for an evening hike, took pizza with us and started walking. We passed the whole center of the old town, reached the castle, went around the castle on all sides, went to the mountains behind the castle, where everyone went around, went down to the river, walked around the river to the bridge, climbed the bridge, but there did not meet anyone . animals. With pizza, I went around all the sights of the city with a pizza. Because of the war, we were able to find customers. It was two cats, one seemed to be waiting for us on the green hills, and the other was waiting near the apartment.
Bakota
We found the first traces of Ukrainian Norway here. The steep cliff offers a magnificent view of the Bay of Bakot and the adjacent shores.
For complete immersion in the atmosphere, it is recommended to watch the species while drinking non-alcoholic Bakot mojito.
It is sold here at the entrance for a symbolic price.
And to enjoy the panorama even closer, you need to find a steep and dangerous rock to hang your legs from it. Now you can go down, and below us are cave temples and a whole campsite.
The views below were less eye-catching, although they were beautiful in their own way. In any case, the entire route is mandatory. Otherwise you will not feel the full height and grandeur of the local mountains. First, of course, easier, you constantly have to go down. But one of the axioms of hiking says: a good descent will be accompanied by a good ascent.
So here, after we walked along the beautiful shores of the bay, began the rise-fight with the scorching July sun.
Fortunately, a cold Bakot mojito was waiting for us upstairs) Now a small snack of sandwiches and we move to the heart of Ukrainian Norway - the village of Subych.
Subich
Dasha found this place while researching a Google map in the Kamyanets district about where else to go. The added photos were impressive, and someone wrote a review that "it's more beautiful here than in Bakota. " We definitely decided to check it out.
Even despite the road killed in the rubbish, our driver managed to drive straight to the top of the local mountains. It took another 3 minutes to get to the top. The more we climbed, the more we were surprised that such beauty is in our country and for some reason we have never heard of it. This place should be the main tourist route of this region!
Beautiful here in all directions at once, eyes wide open, where to start?
It is best to start from the top to the left of the monastery. Then move to the right and look at each of the ledges. The main thing is to remember about safety, and not to overdo it sitting down on the edge.
Far below sailed small ships, boats and jet skis. So, if you find where to rent them, then even below you can admire the stunning views.
We really caught a wave of admiration and fullness here. I did not want to leave here at all. I wanted to sit on a huge boulder over the cliff, look at the water surface, catch the warm summer wind that smelled of flowers and herbs.
Chinatown
A small piece of "Norwegian Geiranger" was waiting for us here. Very beautiful views of the river, which flows far below, and in addition to beautiful views above, you can also walk down.
But you can not just go down, you need to go down, albeit not to the bottom, but still the beauty of these places will look different, but no less beautiful. The nature here is very bright, juicy. We walked and absorbed the beauty.
Along the descent, there are sometimes old concrete columns with holes in the center. At first we thought that ancient civilizations used them as a teleporter, but it turned out to be much more banal. Although we will not dispel the mystery, let it remain the ancient portals. This makes the place look even better.
Maliyivtsi
The next day we had a trip to another new and unusual place. The first thing that awaited us was a big old lake. In which a turtle was warming itself on a fallen tree.
As soon as we approached, the turtle dived, and then lazily returned. An interesting attraction is the waterfall, inside which is the temple. The waterfall is artificial, but it looks beautiful. Not far from the waterfall on the lawn is another lake for those who want to swim - the water there is very cold, but crystal clear.
Well, to complete the park with age-old trees. Maliivtsi is a beautiful place, but unjustifiably far from civilization. Although this has its own charm, there is an atmosphere of stagnant time.
Kamyanets-Podilsky again
We are in Kamianka again! All the good places on the route are visited, but I really want to go somewhere else. But where, because we have already explored everything here.
It turns out that we have not yet paid due attention to the Smotrych River.
So we got into an armored reconnaissance patrol car and began to furrow the river and its environs in the lower part of the city. In some places we drove and even swam the river.
It was so unusual and exciting! In addition to us, there were two other passengers, they sat on top of the platform.
Every time our armored vehicles flew under the next tree, the driver and I turned dangerously, checking to see if the passengers had their heads in place. And of course, a moment of joy when the car enters the river and the oncoming wave rises directly on us.
If you suddenly feel bored in Kamianka for some reason, this is a great way to cheer up.
Since now all our plans have come to an end, we went to study the secrets of the castle itself. There must be something here that we have not seen before.
Surprisingly, we did open a small network of tunnels on the outside of the castle, where you can climb with flashlights. However, the ominous feeling did not leave until the exit from the tunnels.
We spent the rest of the time walking through the usual nooks and crannies of the city.
Our company was joined by a guide dog, which was traditionally rewarded with food for walking the whole route with us so devotedly and admiring the beautiful sunset. And after a good sunset you need to get in no less good place. The opening of this trip we had a restaurant "Three in a canoe". This is for lovers of Mexican cuisine. The interior and the beauty of the dishes literally made our mood. But our previous favorite "By the River", unfortunately, gave up their positions. In general, I want to note that this city is very suitable for gastronomy.
During all the days we were here, we discovered many interesting places with delicious food.
It's time to go back, we boarded the train a little sad that the next trip was over. At that time, we had no idea that our greatest journey of all years would begin in just 4 days ...
