From the pros:
Convenient location, clean rooms, good breakfast.
Minuses:
non-working plumbing.
So, let's start with the hotel itself:
The facade is in the spirit of Kamenetz-Podolsky. I liked everything - the design of the restaurant and the hall, the location, the service. Outwardly, it resembles the Old Fortress. In general, it's beautiful.
Number:
We took a duplex room with a fireplace, three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It seems clean and spacious, but not thought out at all. Firstly, to get to the room, you had to go through the hotel, go out into the courtyard, and then go up the street stairs to the floor and go into the room. In the courtyard - all sorts of rubbish, laundry (a lot of all sorts of dirty linen lies) - the view is not the most pleasant and somehow not a hotel.
The second is planning. The first floor is a spacious hall, a soft part and a dining table with chairs - the place is walking. But here's the second one . . The rooms are just crumbs. In fact, the room takes its hall, and the bedrooms are meter by meter - neither pass nor drive. There are no windows in the bedrooms (only windows in the hallway, the walls are empty (at least a picture was hung for a change), in short - dullness. I also liked the inserts in the windows and doors - they were translucent. That is, if desired, our neighbors (albeit friends) could easily see what we were doing in the room. No privacy. Yes, and it's hard to wake up in the morning - it's dark in the room.
The second is a bathroom. On the ground floor - bath, shower and bidet, toilet and sink. The naporchik disappeared from time to time (in fact, it was possible to wash in the evening, but at lunch it was difficult. On the first floor, it would not hurt to fix the faucet in the bathroom - it leaks.
Third, the refrigerator. It works loudly, leaks, closes poorly and there are no shelves in it - that is, it is a mini-fridge, but the shelves are removed and hidden somewhere.
The fourth is furniture. The bedrooms have wardrobes and a lower shelf that does not close. There is also a separate small closet with two hangers and a shelf on top, in fact - a hallway. In the room, you can store linen in fact either in the drawer of the nightstand, or on that top shelf. Resting for a long time is generally not convenient.
But on the second floor there is an abundance of furniture - a sideboard (why is it there? ), a bedside table with shukhlyads (one where one could store either a lot of clothes or a change of shoes).
I have no complaints about the table, chairs and soft parts.
Another question about the fireplace - why is it in the room, even if they didn’t put two logs for beauty. Resentment(
Service:
We were able to check in even before 2:00 noon. The room was clean, but - 1. there were no disposable shower gels, there was one soap per room (small portion). I had to return to the reception - everything was issued without problems.
Room cleaning only on request. On the third day, we asked to clean our room (since the slippers from the hotel were not provided - although it seems like a suite). The maid cleaned everything well, even replaced the towels, in general - we are satisfied.
On the day of departure, we left our things at the hotel and walked around the city. Everything is safe and sound, and the administrator also helped to call a taxi.
Breakfast:
We were at the height of the tourist season and breakfast was included in the room rate. It was necessary to come to the restaurant from 8:00 to 10:00 and we tried to be in time at this time (we came somewhere at 8:30). After reading the reviews, I thought that the choice would not be large, but I was wrong. There were plenty to choose from: chicken broth and separately noodles for it, buckwheat, mashed potatoes, sausages, cold cuts, cheese, butter, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, coleslaw, black and white bread (the toaster was on the table - you could try out). On the second table there were buns with various jams and even poppy seeds, yogurt, dry breakfast, warm milk, compote, black tea, sugar, instant coffee.
We collected food and ate without problems. I didn’t really like the remark on the last day of my stay that you only need to take two sausages (although that day there were “crumbs” and they are really tiny), and at that time they did not have time to bring cold cuts and cheese (when they left, everything was “updated” again "). And so in general - tasty and nutritious. The waiters cleaned the dishes, they also quickly removed the napkins.
We stayed at the Xenia Hotel for one night.
We were settled, most likely, in apartments - a two-story room, with several bedrooms and two bathrooms. We came with a tour group, we did not book a room for ourselves. Our bedroom was very small, without a window, but with a wardrobe, bedside tables and a comfortable bed, it was enough for one night.
Confused doors. Both in the bedroom and in the bathroom. Glass is inserted into the wooden frame of the doors, which does not shine through during the day, but in the evening, when the lighting is turned on, yes. The shower is right next to the shower room doors. And such a design idea there seems quite strange.
In general, I liked the architecture of the hotel, thematic and original. But it would not hurt, while preserving the almost medieval originality of architectural and construction solutions and forms, to update and make the content itself more stylish.
