Day 8. March 7

The plan was to take a boat to Mnemba Island to dive. There are corals and fish. I specially brought masks from Kyiv. But the husband from the evening began to doubt whether it was worth it. I'm not a very good swimmer and I'm afraid to snorkel without a vest. And the Zanzibar people don’t have vests. But you could at least go there, see, suddenly, someone has it.

But in the morning the husband just rested:

- My nose is stuffed up, I won't be able to dive, and you will generally hold on to the boat. We won't go. If you really want to, go by yourself.

But I myself can’t, I’m afraid with my husband, and I definitely won’t be able to do it alone. No, well, how can you go out to sea alone, if I also speak badly.

I'm still traumatized that we didn't go snorkeling.

Well, I'm selfish, if a person doesn't want to have an active rest, we'll stay in a hotel. It's a wonderful hotel.

- Well, let's at least go and see the hotel-restaurant. This is an island.

- So we have already seen the island.

- Well, it's different and not far from here.

Sometimes it's easier to agree with a woman than to argue.

- There are sea urchins in the restaurant. Have you ever eaten? Me neither! And you want it!

Moreover, until that moment I did not want hedgehogs, but then suddenly I wanted to.

Of course we went. And, of course, unsuccessfully)

The Island. Pongwe

The low tide exposes the stones. And a swamp)

Hedgehogs are not served in the morning. The hotel is not allowed in the morning. Moreover, they don’t let you in right away, but at first they scurry for a long time. We were given a menu, we chose dishes, then they took us to the territory and showed us that people were resting and breakfast was not over yet - no foto! - and taken to the exit.

What was that? )

It's hot to walk around.

And dirty (we didn't photograph the dirt, it's just algae).

As they say - with nothing)

We ran away from there until we began to smoke, the sun that day was especially brutal. But, in general, we went well. We can say - they saved the lives of twelve hedgehogs)

My husband moaned in the room until evening with his stuffy nose, and I lay on a sunbed, under a palm tree, and sometimes even went out to the sea, to plunge into a turquoise puddle.

What are the views! You can just look at the sea all day and enjoy the multicolored water.

Here along the beach, at cruising speed, a donkey rushes. And in the background a sailboat glides lazily.

A line of schoolgirls, as light as birds, is walking in the other direction

In the evening, when the sun is no longer scorching so mercilessly, the tide comes out. It is a pity that the ebb tide is indicated only by an even stronger shallowing of the already shallow sea. But, as it was in Paj, the water, of course, does not go down to the horizon.

There is water, but I still go to wander along the bottom of the sea, hoping to meet starfish. Everyone has already seen it, but I haven't! I call my husband, but there are no people in the sea,

walk in space. But my husband doesn't want to. Completely unraveled.

I'm walking alone. Of course, the Maasai is running after me. Usually they lead along the paths (the paths are not at all obvious, the bottom is uneven, there are holes and hedgehogs in the water), but I don’t have any money with me and I don’t need a guide at all. I want to be alone in this splendor. I ask him to leave me.

So I tell him:

- Let me be alone with the sea!

It is customary to plant gardens under water in Zanzibar) Algae grows here, of course, not cabbage, but this is the work of man. The vegetable gardens are even, with pegs, each has its own owner.

At the nearest garden, you can see the hostess and two girls who are gathering something around. The girls and I look at each other with interest.

I'm embarrassed to take pictures of them.

I never met the stars. But I saw a lot of sea cucumbers) And hedgehogs. Nothing interesting. At some point, the path ends. I see people in the distance, but I can't get to them. There is no road ahead of me.

I'm standing on the edge of the universe, looking around. Beauty is breathtaking. The water is diversified, streaked, kaleidoscoped! That's what attracts me the most here - different colors of water! The colors are fantastic, it seems that this cannot be. Nowhere and never. Like a dream.

A sailboat sails a few meters away. From there, people wave to me. I wave back. It is clear that there is depth, you need to go back.

Coming up with the gardens, I fall into a pit. I don't fail

I just don’t see any other way, and this pit doesn’t look like a dangerous one - there are no thickets and no hedgehogs either. But the woman became agitated, quickly says something to the older girl, she runs to me and gestures to get out back. I'm on my way, thank you. The girl runs ahead, shows the way. I don't even know how I could have gotten out without her.

When the path became more obvious, the girl returned to the woman, and I went further to the shore. Still, you need to take a guide there. Well, at least for the first time, to understand the principle of how to get out. And then the tide will come and you will fall into a trap. Try then get out.
