Is Zanzibar as beautiful as other exotic islands?

No, Zanzibar is much more beautiful than most of the exotic islands we have seen. Zanzibar and its surroundings have the same beautiful beaches as in the Maldives.

How beautiful is snorkeling in Zanzibar, can it be compared to Egyptian?

There are many small islands around the island, the underwater world of which pleasantly surprised us, for example, on one of the neighboring islands of Panj (tourists are often brought there instead of Nakupenda Island), the coral is much more spectacular than the Egyptian one, since it is completely alive and larger in size, although the number of fish is smaller,

yet they are just as exotic and beautiful.

On the plane

If you sit in seats A, then upon arrival you can see the underwater islands. If you sit on the other side, then if you're lucky you'll see Kilimanjaro. But there are not many chances. The islands and Kilimanjaro will be around 40-50 minutes before boarding.

Transport between cities

In Zanzibar, transport is even easier than in the Dominican Republic. Being anywhere on the island, you can go to the first minibus (it is called dala-dala in Zanzibar) and name the city you need to go to, with a 90% probability it will turn out to be the minibus you need. If the cities are on opposite sides of the island,

then you will need to make a transfer in Stone Town. It will not be difficult, you will be transplanted and sent by the conductors from the previous minibus. The only time we had to walk decently to change minibuses was when we arrived from the airport in Stone Town for a transfer to Nungwi.

How do I find out the fare?

If the minibus does not have a list of stops with prices, then give the conductor some money and ask for change until he stops giving it. Since some conductors are happy to pocket an extra thousand shillings ($0.4)

Food in Zanzibar

A hearty meal of seafood and fresh juices for two cost us 35.000 - 55.000 TZS ($ 15-24). In all restaurants, you have to wait for an order for about an hour or more. Almost the entire trip you will eat octopus, squid, shrimps,

lobsters and fish in different variations of dishes. Our favorites in Nungwi are M&J and in Pages, Luciana.

Money

The card is practically not accepted anywhere here, and it is dangerous to withdraw from ATMs, Tanzania is a leader in stealing cards. You need to fly to the island with dollars. You can change them almost anywhere. It is more profitable to pay in shillings. At the airport there is an official bank with a favorable rate, there are also many unprofitable stalls. As of January 21.2021, the favorable exchange rate is 2310. Dollars of 2006 and above are accepted on the island.

Visa on arrival

It is paid in cash dollars at 50 per person, you can pay a hundred for two.

Nation

Two nations live here.

1. The Masai tribe are very kind, sociable and pleasant guys who will always be happy to talk with you, in most cases, without even offering to buy anything from them. Communication with the Masai charges with positive.

2. Locals - can cheat for money,

there are dishonest ones. But just as harmless as the Masai. It is very easy to distinguish them.

Security

It is safe, even in the dark without lighting, you can walk through the slums and not be afraid.

Weather from 11/21/2020 to 12/02/2020

On the beaches of Nungwi and Page, all our days were sunny with clouds. One morning it rained for half an hour. Stone Town in the first half of the day, almost all days were flooded with rain, the second half of the day is sunny. During the day it was always very hot, and at night we slept with the air conditioner on. The locals called our dates the dry season.

Useful apps and mobile internet

Maps. me and the Tides. The island has poor GPS coverage. And when it catches, then a big error. The local sim card 4g of the Halotel operator worked well, the locals cheat when connecting gigabyte packages (we were connected less than declared). The operator's online account practically does not work.

Advice

To avoid getting into a long line upon arrival for several hours, print and fill out migration cards at home. There are two cards in the attachment, both must be filled out for each tourist. Photos do not need to be pasted.
