I'll answer with a question (don't take it as impolite). Do you even know that there is a place in Turkey where sharks come to give birth to children?

jabetta, where then to rest without trembling with fear? We returned from Hurghada, celebrated our anniversary, amazing sea, swam with masks - a miracle! we want to have a rest in turkey this year for the first time, but we don't know where...

I have been to Turkey 3 times. I did not see anything dangerous in the sea. From living creatures I saw some nondescript fish; I don't remember jellyfish. Coral slippers are not needed.

Previously, people traveled to Sharm and Egypt in general for years and did not see anything dangerous there (although there are more than enough dangers, just no one thinks about it). I do not want to frighten anyone, but on the contrary, I urge people to be morally and informationally prepared as much as possible, because, as you know, whoever is warned is armed. Read relevant literature if you want to rest safely. After all, the sea in general is not our element and I do not recommend climbing there without a "tower" to anyone. Let it be known to you that there are dangers even in such a safe sea as the Black Sea. I wish you all a safe holiday.

I rested in Antalya and almost on the entire coast of the Kemer region. We swam in the open sea near a waterfall. It seems that the sea is generally uninhabited. Then I saw small fish (if you stand still for a while, they begin to bite, eating old skin) There are turtles and crabs. There are no jellyfish. As the locals explained, large fish (and sharks) are far into the sea. They showed a photo, impressive ...

Please note that for locals (both in Turkey and Egypt), talking about the dangers of the sea is a taboo. And when you start a conversation like that with them, they make you laugh. But this is no more and no less than protecting your own interests, because this business for them (those with whom you have the opportunity to communicate on vacation) means life.

jabetta, you have already come across minuses;)
Here's +1 for balance ;)

Thanks for the +1, but it would be better if those who disagree argued their disagreement, if they poke cons. Then I would explain my thoughts, if anyone is interested.
аватар _Ivi_
I am neutral, I did not poke any cons, but I would like to hear an explanation, please.
аватар jabetta
What exactly?
аватар jabetta
I ask "what exactly", because I did not see in which of the answers they came across minuses.

I have been to the sea 8 times in Turkey .. I have never seen anything dangerous ... once I cut my leg on a stone)))) but there is no particular beauty in the sea .. we just swim, the water is clean

We were in Alanya this summer. Not even a single tiny fish or jellyfish was seen in the sea, but sharp stones - yes!

I have been to Turkey many times, small fish swim there in the Kemer region, which pinch, if there are sores on the body, they seem to peck them like needles. And so, well, jellyfish occasionally happen, there are practically no living creatures. This year we went to the Aegean coast to Bodrum, where we liked the sea much more, firstly, it’s cleaner, the fish are not large, but you can admire, the entrance is mainly from the pontoon, but it’s even better, since in the Mediterranean Sea large pebbles and it’s hard to go out, I always bathed in slippers.
And on December 21, we discover Egypt for the first time, we go to Taba, the Sofitel hotel. If anyone is also traveling at this time, write, it will be nice to meet and chat. There are two of us, me and my husband, we are a little over 30.

Is there coral for sale in Turkey? What season would you recommend for a holiday - do not want rain and intense heat?
аватар arina_efremova
Regarding the special I won’t say slippers, somehow I wasn’t interested, but in my opinion there is everything ...))). There is no rain in summer. We went once since May 5, then it rained for 3 days, and then the weather improved, but the sea was very cold and the water in the pool was also cold without heating. The most optimal time, it seems to me, is June after 10. But for excursions, this time is very hot. We went to Ephesus in mid-June, the temperature in the sun was 54 degrees, instead of listening and watching the ancient city, we looked out for shade to cool off a bit.
аватар arina_efremova
But the beginning of May is very good for excursions, so what are you going for, if you just lie on the beach, then mid-June.

I remember last (or the year before last?)
there were cases of encounters with sharks near Bodrum
So it's all about safety...

jabetta i think the downsides were in the answer. People used to go to Sharm for years. But my agreement with your answer seems to have already brought your answer to the plus. I also don’t understand what people disagree with and why they didn’t argue their disagreement. Here's another plus for you.
аватар jabetta
Thank you, although I'm not particularly worried about the pros - the truth is more expensive.
аватар vavilova1
You can ask. I'm interested in whether there are sharks, miduzas or not in the Mediterranean Sea.
аватар vavilova1
in the Mediterranean

Tell me, today I swam on the shore, the woman sailed away from the shore and was between the buoys and the shoal, and then something emerged (with flippers, spotted (pastel colors), glossy head, mustache) very similar to a fur seal! What could it be ???

It is necessary to choose hotels where the water in the sea is clean and good visibility. I was vacationing in Side in August. The beach is sandy, but the water in the sea is very muddy, sometimes dirty, perhaps this is pollution from the city of Manavgat. Visibility in the water is about 30 cm, it makes no sense to swim in a mask or glasses. Because of the muddy and dirty water, you can’t see a damn thing and you can easily run into some kind of jellyfish with your face. Which happened to me, but "fortunately" the jellyfish hit me on the leg, stomach and elbow. The lifeguard at the beach made me look like a fool, he said it was an allergy. Received a severe burn. In the first-aid post, they anointed me with some kind of ointment, they said that from some kind of fish. The pain from their ointment did not go away, blisters appeared. I stopped swimming after that. So be careful in the water.
